I know /ck/ gets a cheap eating thread almost every day, but mine is a little different.
I'm going to have a temporary situation where I won't have an income. During this time, I won't have consistent access to cooking utensils. Sometimes I might, sometimes I won't, but I definitely won't have the space to carry a big bag of beans or rice, freeze meals for later, etc. I'll probably have access to a microwave.
I'm not a total poorfag, I have money saved up in the bank, but I need to use it judiciously - I've gotten used to spending like $50 a day on food and booze and I won't be able to sustain that.
All of the ideas I have right now are like, canned soup and fast food dollar menus. Any quick an easier stuff to prepare that will give me better bang for my buck?

The McChicken for me, is the most sustainable sandwich.

What kind of rice do I buy for recipes that call for Japanese rice? Where can I get in the US southeast?

Japanese rice. Little Tokyo.

Yellow rice, obviously.
Anyone hear pearl barley? I'm thinking about trying it. Heard that it can be used to replace rice. Is it easier to cook than rice? Also, nutritionally, which one is better, white rice or pearl barley? Or parboiled rice vs barley?
Any good methods on cooking (how many parts of water on one part of barley)?
it's just a more expensive rice. Don't bother.
And stop eating rice. That stuff is really bad for you. Stick with whole wheat bread.
I love barley, but it takes a lot longer to cook than rice, not sure if it's healthier but it's more voluminous. If you want wholegrain and don't mind longer cooking go for hulled barley.
It's similar to risotto rice. You can cook it like oatmeal too.
>>8238064
Pearl barley is basically brown rice. What you want is hulless or hulled barley.

what did he mean by this
Alright, so say I just happened to through means outside of my control found myself with a fuck ton of hot peps.
Now assuming I didn't want to jam them into everything I eat in the next week (and still have half of them go bad by the end of it). What should or could I be doing with them?
I do not know what kind of peppers they are. They aren't the most flavorful, heat is mediocre.
Preserve them
Make them into paste for spreads on sandwiches or dips
Preserve them. What the hell do you think hot sauce is anon?

It's very good, but certainly not the be-all-end-all. In my experiance a lot of 20+ year old whiskey is really overhyped.
