Say that starting tomorrow, without previous notice, every single patent and non-trademark IP right is cancelled, including copyright.

Would the sudden decrease in prices for tech (and a lot more stuff) caused by the massive increase in competition stand as a net gain for the world economy when put against the obvious collapse of the stock-market?

It would be a net gain.

The collapse of the entertainment industry alone would generate so much new productivity that it would be worth it alone.

Generally, how much money would I have to invest to live off of the dividends?
19 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
around 50k for a frugal neet life.. 200k for some semblance of luxury
>>
>>1395440
Tricky to predict, but a lot.
The higher the dividend, the higher the risk, so you'd probably have to avoid high percentage ones to protect your capital.
If you chuck $100K in to something paying 5%, they'll probably cut you a check for $1,250 every quarter (or, $415 a month).

So it would cost around 1mil to make 60,000 a year?

As a non-American visiting this store for the first time I was quite impressed.

It's got a much better vibe than Walmart (you've never heard of 'People of Target').

They're also highly meme-aware (there were some 9gag-tier shirts).

Invest?

Fuck no. Used to work there. Management is childish. Do you know why they failed to pop in Canada? They didn't both to figure out how to get inventory to the stores effectively prior to having them open. And they always implement new technologies later than their competition. The ONLY thing that sets them apart is their app.
>>

They have their market niche. However, they tend to make poor decisions at the executive management level (Target Canada, hiding their major data breach), and their overall business model is getting eaten up more and more by Amazon, which offers the same types of products as Target and Wal Mart.

Honestly, I don't live investing in the retail space at all; I don't know enough about it to know what will grow and what won't. I simply know as much as I do about Target because I live and work within a 2-minute walk of its HQ, and I have friends/co-workers who used to work there.
>>
>>1395404
Target is doomed.

Their pricing on a lot of merchandise isn't competitive. They sell just as much cheap crap as Wal-Mart (And in their clothing and accessories sell even crappier products) and their entire demographic is slowly going away (Solidly Middle Class White Mothers). This is not even counting the "brilliant" ways they have decided to intervene in culture war issues over the years, and the disastrous placing of their retail locations.

I would be very surprised if they are still around in 20 years.

I've made it myself since 21. $50,00 per month is the most I'm making now and until it's over. I started at ~$6,000 per month. My father works on a crane and my mother works at a mall. I wish I had family money.

I own several businesses, some related to software engineering, mostly professional services that are only accessible via subscriptions. You see how this can grow exponentially and why what I make is possible. I basically siphon money out of other companies and pocket 90% of it, if you want the face of it. That's about 75% of my income.

So I read that money received through crowd funding isn't taxable in the U.S

I live outside US and any and all donations are taxable here.

I've raised a formidable sum of money in support of lgbt. Both promoting and aiding lgbt is illegal in my country and donations received for them might be seen as promoting lgbt. Being homosexual is also punishable by law.

How do I get the money to myself? Its in a US PayPal acc right now that someone made for me. Should I just turn it into bitcoin and physically sell the coins in my country?

Money received through a will or inheritance isn't taxable in my country but I don't know how I will do that.

Any advice?

Pffffft yeah right. Link?

> Both promoting and aiding lgbt is illegal in my country and donations received for them might be seen as promoting lgbt. Being homosexual is also punishable by law.

Then how did you raise money for LGBT in the first place if its illegal to do so?

Seems to me that you're just trying to illegally transfer some ill gotten gains under the pretext of supporting LGBT.

What will be signs of the next Great Depression?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.

A really stupid president gets elected, and starts wanting to 'give poor people more oppurtunity' via easier to get loans, mortgages, whatever

Said stupid president doesnt understand international relations and pisses off X (Whether it be China, Saudi Arabia, whatever) and X refuses to do business with US.

Consumers read news articles and go 'Our president is a fucking idiot and bad stuff is happening' and they start pulling out of markets that they feel will turn bad, which causes the market to turn bearish.

The loans and mortgages given to the mass of poor stupid people come due, and they cant pay their mortgages, mass foreclosures, families losing houses. More news articles pop up saying 'Shits fucked yo'

People read articles and further lose confidence in the market, refusing to invest in American companies.

President fuckwad continues to make poor decisions for the country and international community and cannot find a way to fix said problems. International business leaves to China/Europe/whatever.

President fuckwad doesnt like what China is doing, throwing its weight around and says "You will stop X or ELSE!" China calls bluff because its China, fucking hot war starts between the two countrys, US calls for international support in war against china, other nations are like "Uhhh...no?" Massive losses against the Chinese make global headlines, people starting building bomb shelters and hoarding food and guns, scared of fucking everything.

Great Depression ensues.
>>
>>1395016
The great depression starts if the FED increases interest rates.

If they choose not to do this, they need to keep printing money like crazy, and hyperinflation wipe wipe out all debt.

How much will Nintendo stock go up after Japan release?

$0. Every investor and their mother has that already priced into the stock. It's a huge pump and dump and will pop at the first seed of uncertainty. Ou'd have to be an idiot to invest in Nintendo right now. Their P/E is ridiculous, they're overvalued at least 5x over and that's assuming Pokemon GO will be a huge financial success.

2000$ is great investing money, just hold on to it untill you read good news about a company and then quickly buy stocks before else.

When facebook bought Linkedin, I read that news 20 seconds after it came in.
I bought 20 Linkedin stocks for 130$ each.
1 hour later after the news, the linkedin stocks were 190$ each, sold my stocks and made 1200$ profit.

What do you think you owe your parents?

I don't owe them anything. I told them tonight by the time I'm 30 I will take every single penny they've earned from them for treating me how they did for 20 years.

I will not help them at all and the moment I'm finished college they are dead to me, I will never speak or have anything to do with my family the day I graduate, I'll never ever speak to them after that day.

Canuckfag here from Ontario.

I am starting a little business that'll make and sell parts for various items, and I can make those parts at home if I buy a bit of tooling. If I'm not making noise before and after daylight hours, can I manufacture my own stuff in my garage or do I have to be in an industrial area?

Pic is also my face when the shit I have to jump through to start said business; to clarify, I am much better at making parts than /biz/'ing.

Machining actually, been manual and CNC machining for years. If I can get a little bridgeport in and set up fixturing, it could supplement my income enough to be worth it. The plan is to work on it when I'm not doing much and see how it goes, if it doesn't work out I still have the regular job.

What the parts are isn't really that important. I can make stuff on my off time for various customers that require oddball shit; getting a handful of parts for a big wood processor from the fifties isn't worth a full setup on CNC, but I can fill that order quickly and efficiently.

Shit like that. The point is I don't want to be selling shit and having the Queen busting my door down because I wasn't doing it in an industrial area (where all the machine shops usually are) and didn't have my hardhat and regulation air hose fittings.

pic is one of the three dozen of these doodads I made, apparently it goes in those big tree-eating machines. To be honest I'm not sure what half the shit I make does.

I always imagine my part eventually getting shipped to a volcano island where a bald man petting his cat chuckles and whispers "my doomsday device is almost complete" or something.

The tax refund is about $10k. I've got over 6 figures in the bank and just don't give a shit because I live in a condo I inherited. I screamed at myself today because it's been over a year and I need to fucking do this but I keep procrastinating. I don't need the money. but I have this burning desire to do many things but I'm just too lazy and have no motivation for doing it.This simple tax refund is irking me to no end. I don't have to do it, but it's a good chunk of money and I would be stupid not to.

What gets you richfags motivated? For example, our hero D.J. Trump didn't stop at a million, or a billion. He kept going. He kept going like a mad man. HOW DOES HE DO IT WHY AM I SUCH A SLOTHFUL FAGGOT BORDERLINE NEET!? I refuse to give up and stop here goddamnit. There's more to life than this. Do I seriously need to hire a personal self motivator who will jew me out my money? Are they worth it?

Money isn't a goal, it's a means. The way you make money can be your goal, if you love your job, but just acquiring currency simply for the sake of making your various worth numbers go up is literally autistic. You're trying to force yourself to be autistic and it's not working because you're just retarded.

>What gets you richfags motivated?

A strong work ethic, which they have honed from a young age.

You had easy mode life, you'll never be motivated to do anything.
