I'm the loser, if that was too hard to guess.
I can spend all day talking about how I should have started drawing/writing/programming earlier. I've spent at least a year doing that without actually starting.
But sob story aside, are there any wealthy people that - lottery winners aside -- literally were total plebs by their 2nd decade of life?

I think you're asking the wrong question. How do you define success? If getting $100m is your definition of success you're gonna have to come up with a plan. Maybe you could aim for something easier, like own your own home and have a loving family. Could make you just as happy.
If you had $100m, what would you do with it? How would it help you change the world for the better? You need to figure out how you're gonna contribute to the world, and whether you need $100m to make that contribution.

Perhaps this is a result of my overconsumption of fiction writing and media, but I sort of view each person as a story. I would really like to help facilitate the development of stories far more interesting than my own.
I would like to branch into two distinct markets if possible: Children's entertainment and biomedical technology.
I know, odd things. I just remember being a generally lonesome lad that spent a lot of time socializing online on places like Neopets and the lot as a kid. It would be nice to foster the growth of communities like those. Perhaps the internet has changed too much for such nostalgic formats to rise again. I don't mind adapting that.
And I don't mean I wish to plot out people's lives like some sort of evil mastermind; I'd just like to create environments that allow people to do memorable, enjoyable things, even if it's nothing more than keeping company through servers across the world.
My only issue with this is that I cannot think of any means to fund it even if I gained the technical ability. I do not want to advertise on such a place, as it both ruins immersion and cheapens the experience. I also don't want to sell off user data for anything.
As for biomedical technology, I'm fascinated by advanced prostheses. I'm a bit disappointed, buy ultimately aware that I won't see a Ghost in the Shell future, at least not in my lifetime. That's fine. I would still like to somehow find myself on the bleeding edge of developments regarding our understanding and augmentation of the human body.
Neither of these are things I can see accomplishing without a considerable sum of money. In both ventures, it won't take long to encounter individuals far more intelligent than myself. I would like the ability to employ them to help me accomplish these dreams.

dude, you're a dreamer and you like talking about yourself. how about instead of talking you just start building momentum. like doing stuff you always wanted to do, no matter if you suck at it. start with small stuff and work yourself up. go work out or something. and then within the next 3 years you'll realise that you can do almost everything you set your mind on ...
Any consultants on /biz/?
Currently work as a business analyst for a tech startup, and am considering transferring into consulting, I get the feeling the skillset would transfer well.
What's it like to work as a management consultant? And what's the money like?
>>1385214
freelance or thru a big boy ?
>>1385214
why dont you like the biz analyst at the startup position? Also, what did you study to get the job?
I think the hours in the big boys are crazy and the attrition rate very high (pyramid of promotion and layoffs)
I'm actually applying for a Management Consulting job at PwC now, can somebody please give me any tips to land it, i'm coming from a A/R background and was a Ex-english teacher.
Anything will be appreciated
How long until we start to see Mortgage/Housing market growth due to certain locations having Pokestops or Gyms on them?
Medium/Small business are already using in game Lures to attract new customer bases with most places offering free or discounted products if you play the game.
Can we put a tangible price on a pokestop or Gym location yet?

People who play PG are usually poor millennials. You have to wait for all their parents to die off and then to inherent the money before any of this becomes feasible, and even if it does, it'll just be an icing on the cake kind of thing.
Biz, freeloadibg off my old girlfriend.. My gf just told me I need to get back into school and build a life on my own.
It's hitting me blindly and blunt because I don't do shit in my life. I'm fucking worried. My parents yell and bother me but my girlfriend? It's harsh.
I haven't gone to school in two years and dropped out because I couldn't pay attention to any of it. I had this big plan to be an advertiser and I'm fucked now because I totally let it go.
My friends all ditched me and the people I can hang out with I feel nervous hitting up.
RN I sit and stay focusing on what I did wrong and what I need to do. I just need a start in the right direction.
I know everybody wants me to make it, I'm just so lost.
Sounds like you have turned into a nigger. I dont think theres a cure or any reversing it. My advice is to develop a drug addiction so it wont hurt as much as you waste your life and die early. You fucked your up your only chance on the planet and life. I guess you could find a religion so you wont have to admit that to yourself either.
Start with any full time job, amd go from there. I recommend call centers.

Ask a doctor if you have ADHD and try to get drugs for it.
If you don't have it you're probably just a failure.

What will happen when the economy completely collapses? Mind you, this will be far worse than the Great Depression.
that's unlikely to happen

My grandkids kids might move to another country? I'm sure they'll be fine.

we'll be calling that weird dude who's been hoarding toilette paper the whole time a millionaire. Also we'll be making bad jokes about mad max and whine on the internet about stuff.
How important is attractiveness when it come to the work space?
I'm not awful, but I do have some scarring on the face which I'm afraid will deter me from being able to climb the ladder.
Any look-related stories you have to share /biz/?
>>1396180
Post an example.
>>1396180
Not relevant at all unless you want to be a model or some shit, look at politicians, they're all average to ugly with only a few exceptions
Go to wall street, a bunch of ugly balding jews
Go to silicon valley, a bunch of fat nerds and numales
Nobody even cares
>>1396232
not me but pretty much exactly what it looks like (the before)
>>1396240

All of them have pretty good looks for their age
I just turned 20, am a student, am going to a state school for free, and have $7k in savings from various blue collar jobs
Am I doin good? How do I do better?
You're doing good. You do better when you get a white collar job making a whole bunch.
>>1396090
You're doing better than pic related, her eyes are like 1cm apart, Christ.
>>1396090
>Am I doin good? How do I do better?
When I did the same thing I had like 15k in the bank and a paid off 2001 Kia Rio, so I think you could be doing better.
Hey guys,
My parents ran a business back in 2003 when the internet was still young, i'm sure SEO techniques have changed today.
For anonymity, lets say they had a driving school called Adam's driving school. When you searched for the words (not in quotes) "driving school <city name>" it was 1st on google. He used a program called Alexa booster to artificially improve the # of hits, the program basically adopted a different ip address and visited the site. He would leave it on all day and night.
My question is, could this get your site banned today? What are the dirty SEO tricks that could get your site banned off search engines called so I can research them in more detail?
What are legitimate effective SEO strategies?
>My question is, could this get your site banned today?
Depends on the severity of abuse. Google knows fine and well what you're doing unless you're paying several million per day and have access to some government level hardware.
None of that matters though because the cost to risk benefit is null unless you're manipulating some ultra profitable SERPS and at that stage it becomes obvious to your competitors.
>What are legitimate effective SEO strategies?
Create good content, same as it's always been
>>1396043
>could this get your site banned today?
No, because it wouldn't even work today. SEO these days require a ton of quality content and a ton of quality backlinks. There's never been a worse time to be in SEO than now.
>>1396043
Getting to rank 1 isnt as important for your type of business. You want to be aiming to rank well in the local map pack.
That comes down to consistent name address and postcode across your site, your Google My Business profile and 3rd party citation sites.
Two words. Chinese food drive-through.
panda express?
OP
YOURE A FUCKING GENIUS
WHAT A FUCK WHY DOESNT THIS EXIST YET
A cuisine that is based on rice, noodles, and meat chunks slathered in grease or sauce, that exclusively requires utensils to eat.
>drive through
>to eat in your car
>possibly while driving.
Idk this doesn't seem like it'll work
Is it worth buying stolen jewelry, smelting it and selling it for profit or keeping it for long term gains?

Which do you guys do more of? Do you prefer trading or investing (like mr. Buffett)? What are you guys opinions?
I personally only stick to long term stocks and I've got £8k so far. I'm up £700 since I started in January.
then again I don't know shit about stocks, I only look at a companys history of increasing dividend payments and if it's a steady increase I invest.
Saying that, I might just say fuck it and invest all my money in index funds
>>1395784
I've invested in a value etf through vanguard last month(840.00 something). I'm up about 40 bucks. But I've never been too curious about trading until I started hanging out on this board.
When people say "you can't beat the market" and just invest in S&P 500 or whatever, are they talking about long term investments only?
If someone day trades, can they also not beat the market?
Shit you'll do when you make it thread.
I'll donate to celebs on youtube that I've been crushing on to fuck them irl. I have Ana Kasparian from the young turks and Rosanna Pansino in mind.
I'll fuckin live in 5 star hotels and eat room service for breakfast lunch and dinner, spending all day naked in bed smoking cigarettes.
>>1395719
With VS models
I'll have my entire fleet of exotics outside the hotels with all my best friends with me
and we'll basically party 24/7 and go adventuring in all the cool parts of the world until we're like mid 30s or late 30s
then ill probs find a supermodel wife and get married and then have supermodel david beckham level kids with my melania trump level supermodel wife
life will be great
ill leave my kids a huge trust fund
and ill set up a huge trust for my family in the next generations and my kids will get lambos at 16 years old and will get all the bitches they want and will be men with awesome bodies
basically ill live my life and then ill live my younger life i didnt get to live through my kids
a billion dollars would be enough but i want 51 billion dollars
>>1395725
I actually have a daytrading scheme that I've tested that I'm going to begin doing in a month.
Based on my preliminary testing I should have about $100 million by next september.
Can /biz/ help me navigate my student debt?
I am attending Quinnipiac university, tuition can be as much as 50k a year.
I just finished my first year, I was able to mostly pay off my first year with some financial aid from parents, along with saving for college during my HS years and working as a waiter. I'm thinking about getting a second job, and doing EMT work on the side.
I estimate I will be 350,000ish in debt when I graduate (4 years uni, 4 years medical)
I don't care if I will have to struggle, I need guidance
>$50k a year
>no name school
Why do you hate your parents?
>>1395713
Not him, but is 43k/year in debt worth it for a top 20 that places well in IB? I'm debating this
You already fucked up by going to a 50k/yr school
This is so stupid that your thread qualifies as bait
>>1395925
No
No one cares about your top 20 shit

>Hi there - GIRLFRIEND - what can I help you with... today!
>I, uh, was wondering whether I could possibly buy a minivan to get my kids to and from school.
>All right - GIRLFRIEND - let's see what we've got here...
>Thanks Suze
>OK, so, Sheryl, your personal income is $30,000 a month. Do you think that's sufficient?
>I, uh, think that's maybe enough.
>Oh, girlfriend, OK, well let's just look again. So you have expenses of $300 a month. You live in a trailer... quite an expense there Sheryl!
>Well, I was thinking about moving into my car but my son has asthma.
>Oh, does he? Have you factored that into your expenses?
>Yes Suze
>OK then Sheryl. You have twenty million in your Roth IRA... you have a higher purchase agreement, on track to be paid off this September, right Sheryl? Do you have your eight month liquid fund sorted?
>Yes, Suze, I do -- more than that, even... around one million.
>OK Sheryl, great. The minivan is used, you say it will cost around $3000. So, girlfriend, you're not going to like what I'm saying, but... DENIED.
>Oh, really?
>Unfortunately so - GIRLFRIEND. Your financial position is untenable. Thanks for calling in... today!

I'd have more respect for her if she practiced what she preaches.
If I had double digit millions I'd be mostly in bonds too, but I wouldn't be advising people to get into riskier shit that I wasn't in personally.
>>1395653
I didn't know she advised people to get into risky shit. What sort of stuff does she suggest? I always thought it was bonds and retirement funds.
>>1395657
>riskier shit
Whether the market itself is "risky" is debatable.
My point is, she's almost entirely in bonds, entailing almost zero risk. That pays ok if you're a multi-millionaire, not so much if you aren't.
Which is why she can't advise her middle class audience to do what she does, as it wouldn't work for them.
