So what's the deal with Vanguard?
What is the advantage of Vanguard over other mutual funds?
>>1389016
Lower fees and better performance than most managed funds.
>>1389023
What about a fund that performs better than Vanguard does even with saving on the fees?
Is it worth going for dividend-focused Vanguard funds if you want that sweet dividend yield? Or is there better funds for long term income
Specifically for corporate finance. Any tips?
My mind goes blank when it comes time to write one. Why do you think you would be a good fit at our bank, and be suited to corporate finance, anon?
Read through a bunch of samples online until you get an idea what you're supposed to write. You could also just use someone else's letter and switch out all the details for your own

if people are willing to pay for it, they can get away with it
Just got a shitty construction job that pays $14 Can an hour, 12 hour days with overtime, guaranteed 5 days a week. I was thinking about putting my money in silver once I pay off my 5k debt.
What does /biz/ think about silver, or investing in metals in general.
I was also thinking about investing in lithium / companys that make portable batteries now that pkm Go is taking off.
What say ye /biz/

What's overtime, anything over 40 hours a week?

Silver and gold are solid investment. They can't go bankrupt, unlike stocks and other companies, so they are safe as general savings. However, the problem is to find a trustable seller who doesn't want to buy/sell it for outrageous prices below/over spot.
Also, do your homework, track the value of silver for a while before acquiring it. Right now is hovering around the $20, but usually it was around the $16-$17 range. This price increase was nice for those who already own some, but for someone trying to acquire their first ounces, is too expensive, because is unlikely silver will hold this price for too long, IMO. Quite probably it will drop back to $17 or $18, so I would advice to wait for a while beforing purchasing any silver.
Also, there's a bunch of retard /biz/raelis who will tell you about silver being only good for apocalypse scenarios, being a retarded idea and some other shit. Pay no attention. Silver and gold have been around for next to all the humanity history, and both have industrial applications, with silver leading the way with all this electronic revolution.
Some family of mine just retired from the military loaded as fuck. They're looking to start a business or two of their own.
I want to learn everything I can as fast as I can about running a sports restaurant or something similar. I'm looking for any sort of reading material, recommended courses, or general /biz/ advice.

Tell them to buy tobacco stocks instead, restaurants are shit.
>>1388493
I'm a restaurant GM. My best advice to you would be to work in a restaurant for a little while, maybe 6 months to a year to get a idea for how it works. I work in quick service and if you want to be successful you have to really watch where every dime goes to. As long as you can keep your food cost and labor in check then you have a good chance of making money.
>retired from the military loaded as fuck
which 3rd world dictatorship?
Is this shit legit or a scam? Any websites to recommend?
Purchasing binary options is biting into a scam. Writing binary options is perpetrating a scam.

Sure, take out huge loans you can't pay back and borrow everything you can from friends and family.
Then blow it all on hookers and coke in Vegas. If the shorts win (you), get the fun of everything you spent it on for pennies on the dollar, because you'll never pay it all back.
Or, the longs win (everyone else) and you strike it rich, having to give back all the money and face the consequences anyway.

Can someone explain to me what a "mortgage bond" is? From my understanding, a bond is like a loan that you give to companies or the govt and they pay you interest on it. I dont understand what a mortgage bond is, and whenever i look it up it just explains it as "a bond backed by mortages" which doesn't make sense to me.
Someone goes and gets a mortgage. And then a thousand other people go and get a mortgage.
The bank, to get rid of risk and gain some extra cash, then sells these mortgages to an investment bank.
The investment bank pools all the mortgages into investments for people to buy (the bonds).
Now when the home buyer goes to pay some of the mortgage off (monthly payments) part of those profits are kicked back to those who bought the bond.
If anything goes wrong or mortgagees cant pay back the loan, the bond still has value since it's tied to the mortgage (the asset or home) which is where a mortgage backed bond comes into play.
Because these bonds are attatched to an actual asset, returns arean't always thst high.

Lots of positive news about the USD and US economy. Have a lot invested in gold. Should I be worried?
unfortunately gold is a tinfoil hat commodity.
you should hold it though, because there is value there. it's been a great year for gold.
>>1387812
Economy hit all time highs again. Eventually, the fed is gonna say "**** it" and raise interest rates. But that may not happen till next year. Then the economy will cool down, and gold will likely stay high.
Does the community here have any sites they recommend on how to learn finances? Sticky has basically no links, I was hoping for at least a wiki
