a now defunct cryptocurrency called MediaCoin had an incredible idea: decentralized Youtube that pays coins for sharing bandwidth and storage.
Basically, host a quality video that people want to watch, and you get a cut. No censorship. No DMCA takedowns. No "Blocked In Your Country" BS.
MediaCoin died in 2014. But like early social networks, I think it was just too early to the idea. But the idea is valid as fuck. If one of you nerds makes a new platform like this, I'd invest like a son of a bitch. Censorship is way more sinister these days.

He's a tv persona.

>has he made a single person rich?
Yes, himself.

TV isn't for informing people, it's entertainment. Clean and simple. Just because news bases its stories on real events doesn't make it any more educational than reality TV

hey Biz I'm 21, Uni Student, casual Job, from Australia.
I have about $20k in assets (half cash, half ASX stocks, inb4: cash money is lazy money)
I will be finished university in a few years, and I want to be able to get a loan and buy a house, will. Should i get a credit card ? I have no plans of spending more than i have, just for the sake of a good credit history.

If so, what card should i get?

If you can, piggyback off of someone elses credit card (parents, grandparents, family). They don't even need to give you a card to use, just add you to their account. All the sudden, their good credit history become yours.

If this isn't an option, try to apply for an unsecured card with the highest limit and lowest apr. Use it for small expenses and pay it off every month. It will take some time to build a good score so do it sooner rather than later.
>>
>>1394609
Fellow Australian here.

Get a card. I have a CBA one and have always paid my balance on time. Just don't be a retard and you're fine. Cards without annual fees are good, don't worry about any of that awards points bullshit.

With my CBA card, I'm on awards but it's pretty shit. Spending around $1000 a month I make enough awards points to buy petrol vouchers worth slightly more than the annual fee.
>>
I wouldn't worry about getting a great credit rating in Australia.
Unless you plan to finance cars and furniture for the rest of your life it doesn't really matter. Banks don't care very much about credit ratings when giving mortgages unless you have a bad one.
It's not the same as in America.

I work on Hollywood sets, how can I stop seething with jealousy at how much these people are getting paid. It's affecting my job performance. I learned the Director was getting 20 mil + 15% of gross

I'm 27. I'm in a medical program that will end with me having a 80K a year job and no debt. I know nothing about business or investing, I have very little money right now, and no job right now.

How do I make the most of my time and my money in the future?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Set up an investment account and have a significant portion of your earnings direct deposited into it each month. Pick a split of funds you like, roll over any dividends and coast. Open and max out a Roth and use your work 401k for whatever they will match.

Marry a virgin who has a STEM degree and no interest in children. Devote the early portion of your careers to slavishly climbing the ladder until you're worth at least a mil. Then you can take a breather.
>>
>>1394528
Questions:
Ok so put a big chunk of my money in an investment account. How do you pick funds for it? Just anything that looks to have a good history? I've heard such things are essentially random.

Why an IRA? Just because it's an untaxed place to put money? Or saving for retirement in general?

Why a virgin? I assume the STEM degree is so they have a good job.
>>
I've been thinking about going into some sort of medical program, specifically nursing, opinions on your program, and would you do it again?

Yes, you should, but not because of your cunt dad.

You gross more than three times what a fast food worker makes

Keep working and go back to school at the same time. Work on making your 40k/yr into 80k/yr, then 120k/yr

In Europe.
Planning on stocking some guns and ammo illegally in the case of a SHTF scenario.

Seems like a good investment, the way things are going here with the EU and the very real possibility of another financial metldown.
People in the street and online are already talking about violence and civil uprising. Give it ten years and Europe will be engulfed in flames once more.

So yeah, I will be "investing" in weapons.

i need a girlfriend like this

I am 28 and I make $60,000 USD annually

Everyone tells me I should go back to school and get a degree but that sounds like a waste of time and money to me

Is college really "the single most important investment you can make in your life" or is that meme-bullshit collegefags spout?

Pic related; it's me

The only reason people college is for the piece of paper saying you went. Nothing a college offers can't be learned online besides possibly lab experience but assuming you aren't going into chemistry or bio related fields you should be fine.

hey /biz/ should I get a credit card? I'm 22 and I've never had a credit card, I was contemplating getting one because I've been burning through all my cash lately, and to get myself a credit score.

I'd be using it if I run out of salary money, and all the credit as soon as I get my salary money, I just want a small interest rate and I don't give a fuck about having a big limit. I don't want to buy fancy shit with it.

Does a 18% anual interest sound reasonable? Apparently there are some local banks that have a 14% interest.

They're raising my salary and I won't have more money problems, but I gotta wait until August 15 to get money because I'm on paid vacations and they already paid me all my shit on advance, and I only got like 100 bucks left.

no, its a scam
>>
you sound like a terrible candidate for a credit card. desu. literally never use one if you don't actually have the money to cover the cost on hand.

a lot of intro cards give 0% for a short term when you sign up before bumping up to 18%

your bank will gladly give you one

Sorry i mistyped this, I meant

>and PAY all the credit as soon as I get my salary money

I said I wouldn't buy fancy shit with it, just groceries or food at most.

ok so here's what happened. I went over the 4 day trade limit on robinhood and didn't even notice. (I know go ahead and say how retarded I am) so I got flagged and my day trade protection setting was off. So naturally it let me go over the day trade limit. Needless to say it says I have $1300 in "unsettled" funds. I only have 400 in cash. So I put 1300 in to cover the "margin". Now biz what happens now. Was that 1300 in unsettled funds the margin because I literally just put 1300 in to cover it. Are there going to be any penalties? When will the "unsettled funds" part go away. Pls help.....no seriously please help.
