What is required reading for someone who wants to become financially literate?
Financially literate at what level?
It's a broad range between making a household budget or calculating compound interest on your savings account and figuring out the true value of a coco-bond given financial reports or predicting the futures market.
Most people can't even handle the former...

I'm fuckin tired and about to go to bed, but I'll get you a longer list in the AM. You can start with something basic, like Rich Dad Poor Dad. There's some storytelling but it's a very good piece on passive income and real estate. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is godlike. Also, The Richest Man in Babylon by Og Mandino. These are just a few off the top of my head.
TL;DR
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The Richest Man in Babylon by Og Mandino <-- START WITH THIS IMO

Rich Dad is garbage designed to sell seminars.
Richest Man in Babylon is legitimately important.
Has anyone tried these P2P loaning sites?
Lending Loop just recently came to Canada and I'm interested to try, but I want to see if anybody here has had god/bad experiences with this or the other sites.
I did and it works well for me, but you should learn a bit about fine tuning these things.
Most people don't diversify enough and get mediocre results.
Who has well off middle class / rich parents but only you turned out to be the failure in the family?
>parents net worth 600k including house and 1 let out flat

>be me

>parents have genius idea
>parents have glorious idea
>"duh lets found a company"
>"k"
>parents borrow money where they can
>parents never had expirience in leading a business or a degree

>parents had store for designer furniture
>fucked up because my mom was a lazy spoiled whore
>parents now have impossible high debts
>we lost our house and nearly 80% of the wealth my family owned for generations
>parents dont care anymore about anything
>i'm now the only one with a perspective in my family
>going to uni studying computer science
>looking forward to founding a company for software development
>going to take back the lifestyle they took from me
You guys always talk about gaming the system and making money work for you instead of the other way around, playing the stock market etc etc. But how many of you are actually successful doing those things? Chances are if you're on 4chan then you're still at the bottom of that ladder and the odds of you ever going any further than that are very slim. It's risky business and I bet it mentally degrades you with the stress. I know some of you have been for for years and years and your life situation is largely the same as it was before.
NEETs on the other hand are taking /biz/ concepts to their maximum conclusion, which is forcing society to work for them and turning over enough profit to stay at home and do whatever they want e.g. complete freedom. example Martin Shkreli. The guy has millions and all he does is sit at home all day, but even Martin is a sucker considering all the effort he had to put in compared to your average NEET who only jumped through a few hoops to get their bucks, yet they live extremely comparable lives.
As a NEET you learn to become one with yourself and with your surroundings, it's almost like a form of Buddhism. You begin to appreciate the simpler things in life. NEETs arguably have the greatest understanding of economics when you consider these facts.
OP, the internet has changed so much that NEETS can earn money without going outside.. Take a look around you.. RH and Shitcoin shill threads galore every month just like clockwork. Most are just perpetrated by NEETs with too much spare time, wanting to make a quick buck.
Im a NEET and have $50,000 in my war chest ready to make a killing in the markets..Im patient, just waiting for the right time to enter a hype / pump

How the fuck do i become a NEET in Canada, do any anons know?
>>1660639
>forcing society to work for them
Sure thing buddy, if you think those $500/mo means society is working for you. Don't want to ruin the only delusion that prevents you from killing yourself.
>Man Has 1,497 Credit Cards
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/WaterCooler/story?id=411883
What prevents me from opening >50 credit cards, maxing them, and filing for bankruptcy?
That's fine if you can do it, have no assets that can be seized, and know what you're gonna do with your life while you wait for the 5 years (dunno what it's like in the US) or so before you can earn big money again

There are a few rules with Bankruptcy. You have to be a little bit careful not to violate on of the rules or they will deny your bankruptcy.
Your plan will work if you do it slowly. You have to show that you took the loans in good faith - with the clear intention of paying back the debt.
I guess a real question is if there is a line where you suddenly in trouble for fraud. I assume their is a line, but where is it? Our fucking president used bankruptcy as a key strategy, so it's obvious you can get away with a lot of bullshit if you know the rules.
I'm a law student at a top 14 Law School, with a job lined up post schooling with no debt.
I wanted to hear more about the real estate meme, is it really impossible to start generating a bit of income off of rental properties? Once I have my career started, I'll be making around $50k starting for my first two years, and it will be rising from there.
Should be enough to buy a property or two with loans every few years, especially once my income jumps up into 6 figure range about 5 years into work. Why wouldn't I be able to buy, say, a duplex and lease it out by the month, and use any gains from it to cover upkeep, while also reinvesting it in more real estate?
You should focus on your career and ignore real estate forever.
Seriously, what the fuck is it about real estate that attracts attorneys? Aspergers and real estate are like peas and carrots.

> Why wouldn't I be able to buy, say, a duplex and lease it out by the month, and use any gains from it to cover upkeep, while also reinvesting it in more real estate?
You're in a top Law School and you can't figure out the answer to this question yourself?
Hmm...seems fishy.

It's attractive because it's the closest non-autismo way to generate side income when you have a decent salary. Parents used to rent out properties when my dad was running his business a couple of decades ago and it was profitable enough for him that he had a nice padding to his bank account from it.
What would you suggest I do then as a sort of side job that isn't handing my money to an investment firm?
>have made 50k this year
>only actually have got 35k of it
>22 and single
Holy fuck is this real life

what country do you live in?
if U.S., i'mma be completely honest with you OP, you're doing better than most people your age.
I'm contemplating purchasing ridiculously cheap property/land in Eastern Europe.
No intention of ever setting foot there, but I think it might be a good investment.
Anyone ever done this?
>>1660116
You need to be more specific and consider that many eastern european countries are literally dying because all the young people are moving to the western european countries. You need a countries that is developing especially agriculturally and its hard for me to think of one.
As long as it cash flows, it can't be all bad meng
I wonder if we can con rich Chinese people into buying up property in Eastern Europe

You're a fool if you think that is enough money to achieve what you want.
Keep persuing an education or trade. You have enough money to give yourself a start to an early retirement. That's your safest bet. Let it grow.
