Good morning /biz/.
I know you have this thread every fucking day, but i beg you to help me. I'm 27 years old neet with a shitty bachelors degree in literature. I've been thinking starting over again and back to college. Is finance a good major? What habilities do i need to succed in this world? How is your life as a financial analyst? Is the income good? I just want to have enough money to afford a decent house, a thicc wife and some kids.
Sorry for shit englishu.です
I mean, you're going to have a finance degree at minimum 31 years old? With no experience I'm guessing? You'll probably be in the same boat
>>1662594
>good major
>you need to be self-motivated, disciplined, creative, dilligent
>I'm not an analyst. While in school I took a GM job for a small manufacturer. Manufacturer got bought out. Worked for a firm that developed high-end corporate tax planning solutions. It was incredibly interesting from a financial sciences standpoint, but I almost went American Psycho and murdered some motherfuckers at work. Dabbled in Real Estate for a bit, because "Be Your Own Boss" and less motherfuckers to murder. Applied to entry level proprietary trading job posting. Real meatgrinder of a place, hire 12 guys, 2 survive. I survived, promoted to AM, then GM, then partner. 43 now, and retired. Living off of rental revenue, dividends and capital gains.
>income is incredibly variable. "Commensurate to performance" has never been truer.
>I have a decent house, thicc wife and one kid. Jesus Christ I don't know how people would ever choose to have a second one of these creatures. Expect your health, sanity, and productivity to be decimated.

Chemistry and Biology are the best majors to get. Believe me
Abolish all grades. Abolish all tests. That shit is fucking child abuse and 99 % of what people learn in school they will forget. School does not teach you a damn thing about that you retain.

both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs agree with me. This is not some fringe belief.
School teaches you how to learn
Alright fags, where can I get the highest cpm ads for my website (cost per thousand)? Is Adsense the best?
Need to know your vertical. Adsense is going to beat most other general networks. Boutique private ones will pay more but you have to be branded well and have good traffic. Direct deals you make with advertisers will pay less, but be more stable if your traffic is great.
>>1662675
Sorry amateur here, what's vertical?
At the moment I'm getting average of about 1,000 a day, but rapidly growing. Some days I can get a lot more

>be me
>fresh out of college and can't find a job anywhere
>discover this firm at my careers fair which promises a guaranteed job in top IT and finance companies after completing their "award winning" 2 year training course
>but course costs $20k for 2 years
>read fantastic reviews about them and former grads recommending me to sign up
>I fall for the kool aid, get into $20k debt and sign the contract
>day 1
>firm gives me several self help books to learn from and tells me that IS my training
>mfw several of them are "For Dummies" books
>check price of book on Amazon
>$20
>mfw if I quit I owe them $20k because of the terms of the contract
>mfw If I somehow get kicked out of the course then I lose the $2k deposit I had to initially pay.
>mfw I find out now that there is no guarantee of getting a job at the end of the 2 years even if you pass the course, as it entirely depends on having superior chad networking skills
Is this what indentured servitude feels like?

I suppose the age old adage "you can't fix stupid" is true. Let me get this straight OP. You looked for work, and instead of using your alumni network, or at the very worst using a website like Craigslist, you decided that you would PAY 20K to go to a for profit college practically.
OP I seriously hope this is a bait thread
>>1662538
I wish this was bait but now I'm 3 months in and just want to kms already. I'm just going to try to get myself kicked out of the course so I just pay the 2k deposit and be done with it
Sub /biz/? Just made some huge gains of the stock market this week, pic related is my brand new ferrari. Why the fuck aren't you chasing meme mission???
>>1662517
How do you take photographs like that?
>>1662519
...by having someone else take the photo? Obviously?
First thing I did was take it to the track. Love the handling on this baby, she takes corners like a champ. As expected of Italian cars!

Is owning a sports team a lot of work or is it just a rich people hobby and not that demanding
Is owning a business a lot of work?
It can be if you want it to be successful and profitable. If you don't want to be involved you can always let it chug along on its own, but if the organisation isn't set up properly it'll not be profitable for long.
>>1662484
Are you fucking retarded?
>>1662506
I get conflicting information Steve Ballmer says it is more time consuming than his time at Microsoft and Mark Cuban says it's just a rich person hobby so instead of insulting offer some information because you are clearly just as ignorant on the subject as i am
How often do you give your underlings the ol' Johnson Treatment anons?
What other forms of intimidation and bullying do you use to maximize performance out of your unsurprisingly high turn over employees?
>>1662473
try /r9k/
>>1662473
Intimidation and bullying from management is surprisingly not a good way to manage people. If you want your employees to have worse performance and higher turnover because they constantly hate where they are and instead of focusing on the job at hand, they keep thinking about leaving and how they can inform you that you suck.
t. guy who is currently a manager of a college janitorial staff
I'm a 3rd shift Production Manager at a plant.
I went from doing away with fixed lunch schedules. Grown adults waiting for a bell to ring like children was retarded as fuck. All employees have a hour of break time and can use it whenever they want and split it up whenever they want. The company ended up adopting it for all shifts and now people just use their badge to get in and out of the break room and it tracks time.
I got a bunch of bar stools real cheap from Craigslist and brought them in for operators to use. They were standing for 12 hour shifts on concrete floors all night and they didn't even have memory foam/soft padded mats to stand on. Figured bar stools would be better because they are basically doing nothing for 2 hours at a time running automated machines.
I talked management into getting healthier food options in the break room than old outdated vending machines. We now have Aramark.
Been here 7 years and not a single person has quit on my shift at least.
Maximizing production is about making the job easier. Unhappy/stressed/fatigued employees equals lower efficiency. The only high turnover that still remains in our plant is in warehousing but I can't control that. We've only needed to hire 14 people this year in production and 12 have stayed. All have stayed on my shift. Numbers has gone up and scrap has been reduced by 15%.
The stock market has been pretty crazy this week. Almost too crazy. In the event of a market crash would thing like gold go up in price? Would bitcoin also benefit from the crash?

I'm having trouble understanding the concept of a dividend reinvestment.
Basically, my mother and I both have Disney stock (5 and 10 shares) and recently she decided to take the dividends earned through mines and put it towards dividend reinvestment instead of just getting a $3 check twice a year. Idk if she did the same.
I understand that the money goes into investing further into that Disney stock, but then I'm lost. Disney stock is in the $90 range so I don't understand how the dividend reimbursement plan further invests into that stock or whatever else its supposed to be doing.
>>1662420
in 30 years shill own 6 shares instead of 5.
>>1662420
You end up with fractional shares. The shares bought with the dividend are not from the exchange they're from the broker-dealer that setup the DRIP
Tell me honestly, /biz/
If I'm an American in my late 20s right now, how likely is it (knowing nothing else about me) that I will ever own my own home?
>>1662402
there's a 62% chance you own your home now.
the chance that you'll own your home at any point in your life is closer to 80%. There's a 20% chance you'll sell or lose your home, this chance increases greatly if you're a racial or ethnic minority.
>>1662402
60%
daily reminder that american homes are overpriced, made of literal garbage, are designed to be difficult to repair and renovate/difficult to last long enough to be inherited, and there's no reason to have one unless you shit out kids
Automation is dumb as fuck. How will people buy shit if they don't have jobs?
>>1662388
As Marx pointed out, Capitalism sows the seeds of its own destruction!
>>1662388
Already half of American adults dont work. Where have you been. Also look at Spain, Greece, etc. We are in a post labor society.
>>1662391
You do understand that that's complete bullshit right? All these statistics count high school and college students as unemployed, of course they're going to start working once they graduate, even if it's from their useless fields.
>Bitcoin will hit $3000 a piece by February
pls no, i don't want that to happen yet, i can't buy bitcoin untill february :(
BTC will surely rise, but hopefully not that fast.. i need to get m0ar and become a millionaire in a few years
ive been waiting like 3 weeks for it to lower. bought first bitcoins at 600€, deposited another 3000€ but wanted to wait for another dip, which hasnt come so far... if it doesnt dip until the beginning of january i will just bight the bullet and buy more bitcoins then

Better major construction management or business?
>>1662357
are you bob the builder or are you stan the banker?
most of the people that manage medium sized construction companies don't have degrees, just like most people that manage small businesses don't have MBA's.
before you dismiss small businesses, keep in mind that a construction company can make $31,999,999 per year or employ 99 people and still be a small business.
same with other businesses- you can easily manage stores that make millions a year without a degree.
either way you should be getting your degree with the idea of starting your own business in mind. If I were you I'd go into construction, but that's only because I already know how easy it is to start a contracting firm and make bank. If starting businesses isn't your thing I'd consider civil-E.
>>1662364
A construction manager doesn't manage the company they manage the construction phase of a project. Dealing with subs, attending meetings etc.
That being said in the construction industry a degree doesn't mean much. You need experience. A degree may help you get your foot in the door but what it teaches you isn't entirely applicable to the real world. If you get a reputation as a bad manager you won't last long even if your GPA was 4.0
>>1662367
>A construction manager doesn't manage the company they manage the construction phase of a project.
so a foreman rather than a manager? a ramrod?
lol
that's a really not-useful degree. that's all experience.
