> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
Jewish tricks? No, and please refrain from the antisemitism! Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> How is it free?
"People" invest your settled funds when you're not using them, just like banks.

> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
Are you aware how small this community is? Better to try stocktwits or r/wallstreetbets

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

ive been thinking about my losses lately and I think one of my big problems is I try to trade too many things at once.
my new plan is to focus on a handful of companies, just a handful, and only trade those.

I see you guys mentioning bids/asks, I found out today that when you open a buy/sell window in RH you can tap the number of shares for "this is how many shares you can get with your current buying power at the price" and tap on the price (I tried this in a limit buy order) to get bid/ask prices

This probably isn't news, but then again neither were the "HOW DO TRADEDAYS WORK WHAT THE GUF IS AN INSTANT GOLD" posts the last few days

Hey guys, can you help me understand Robinhood instant? I've been using the standard for a while now, and the wait time always kills me.

It says that it's free, but what's the catch? And how does it work?
>>
>>1792028
Nintendo is only a $200 stock, why wouldn't you just buy it instead of NVDA?
>>
>>1792107
It's a limited margin account. That means RH will loan you, at no cost, unsettled funds (Many brokers do this because there is no risk, and it's very appealing to traders). You then no longer have to wait the three days and can trade with your profits instantly.
However, because you are now using a margin account, you will be subject to SEC rules on pattern day trading. These rules are simple but quite restrictive on the number of intraday trades you can do if you have less than $25k in your account. You get three, and each one only resets every five trading days. Buying and holding for at least one night before selling is unrestricted.
>>
>>1791636
If your campus has a terminal then you just have to make an account and you can use it. Ask before you use it though so your dumbass doesn't try to charge expensive alternate services to the account.
>>
>>1792120

IMMU looks like it's in a 3 month long uptrend, and the news it just had may very well make it go higher and higher. Holding it for the weekend was definitely a good move as long as you're willing to watch it go through some consolidation.
But BSTG looks like a terrible stock man. It's been in a downtrend for a while and it looks like you're trying to catch a falling knife.

Support is at 1.55 at it looked like it closed at 1.65 friday with lots of volume on thursday
The RSI is at 33 which indicated it is relatively oversold right now.
Personally I wouldn't buy this stock because it just looks like it's all over the place.
One day it opens at 2.7 and the next it opens at 2.25?

Seems way too risky, but it seemed like a relatively bullish week so i'm thinking it may go into the 3 dollar range if the momentum continues.
Don't be surprised if it continues it's downtrend though.

Yeah the MACD EMA line just crosses the signal line as well which could spark a breakout.
Only thing holding it back is the fact that it's in a downtrend, and the moving averages are both in downtrends as well.
Other than that, volume, RSI, and the somewhat bullish week mean it may go up but desu this stock looks a lot like DRYS.

They're probably going to be doing a lot of Reverse Splits and dilution to keep their stock afloat because they've been going downhill ever since they go into the market.

I buy an additional 500 shares of $ABC on July 1, 2000.
When January 1, 2001 comes around... is my entire position considered long, or is just the initial 500 long, while the second 500 considered short?

Thanks.
>>
>>1792573

Your entire position would be long.
>>
>>1792576

So I can purchase 1 share of $ABC if I see a potential long-term catalyst one year prior, buy an additional 9,999 shares before the catalyst when I know it's going to explode, and sell my entire position which is now long at the reduced tax price?
>>
>>1792586
Don't confuse accounting-based tax treatment of equity positions with actual trading prices and the direction of positions. If you buy 500 shares of XYZ at date A, the buy 500 more shares of XYZ at date B, you're still long. Now if on date B you were to sell >500 shares of stock XYZ then you would have a short position equal to how many shares over 500 that you sold.

I only like technical analysis as a way to look at things completely objectively, fundamentals in the industry or stock in question almost always win out in my experience but it's also really nice if it technically adds up to the same conclusion.

TA and macd for amd for example say to get out right now in anticipation of a short term pullback and that it's not a good time to buy in, it's just a simple way for most people to take what's in their head into information on a chart

I really enjoy plugging and chugging info from financial statements into excel and using my macros and pvt charts to jerk off to the numbers, but I feel like all these values are pretty much useless. For me it's the opposite and can keep me from making biased decisions

I'm very biased to be long on amd right now since the fundamentals are good and it will probably run to at least 16 over the next few weeks/months but the short term technicals are telling me it's likely overbought and will look for a retracement lower

Now the people who look for flags and cups and handles are a bit crazy, I've never known how to interpret that stuff, you might as well look at the stars and see what stock tickers you see up there to buy in the morning imo

Not yet, I really want a cold weather spike to go DGAZ if natty hits 3.3 or so but it might not happen this february or march

Oil is baffling to me though, record long positions according to the COT reports yet every single inventory report is bearish, with a 25% higher storage level than normal. If not for OPEC talking it up WTI would be in the mid 40s right now. Very limited upside short of a world war or major middle eastern shenanigans and a lot of downside, oil bulls are just going by what OPEC is saying instead of supply and demand

Safe to short/go DWT on anything in the upper 53s, I went in at 54 with a stop loss at roughly 54.35 in case I'm dead wrong and for some reason it boosts past the 54.30 resistance, in that case I'll take a ~1% loss and try again accept that oil does not follow supply and demand at all

But yeah oil makes zero sense, last time speculators were hedged this much to the long side was in 2014 right before this happened, a whole lot of downside incoming. There's very few reasons to be long oil imo after failing to breach 54.30 about five times in a row this month, should break to the downside rather than the upside unless OPEC can do some more magic tricks and claim they will cut all oil production while actually doing nothing.

KTOS YES

MY BODY IS READY
>>
>>1793788
You can make as many day trades as you please with a cash account, you just have to wait 3 days for the funds to settle after you make a sale.

Ex: cash account with 5 grand
Day 1 - Buy and sell 2500 worth of stock

Day 2 - 2500 cash available. You buy and sell 2000 worth of stock

Day 3 - 500 cash available. You buy and sell 500 worth of stock

Day 4 - No money available. No trades

Day 5 - 2500 cash from day 1 has
settled. You now have 2500 to buy and sell stock with, but you take the day off

Day 6 - 2000 more cash from day 2 has settled. You have 4500 to buy and sell stock with.

Etc....
>>
>>1793788
So a cash account lets you buy in and out when ever you want, but when you sell you have to wait 3 days to get your money back. So you can do that but you may not have buying power all the time
>>
>>1793788
It's absolutely allowed.
FINRA has an FAQ that's misleading and uses words like "generally", because they want to discourage amateurs from throwing their life savings at options trading.
The actual rules are unambiguous: If you trade only in cash and do not violate the three-day free-riding rule (which RH and most brokers prevent you from doing), then you can day trade without restrictions.

Margin is useful to increase your leverage on investments. Say TSLA goes up 5% a week, you could use 1k and get a $50 return on your investment OR you have 2k in margin so you invest 3k you get a $150 return which is a 3x return. However if it goes down you can get margin called. It's also has one other minor advantage where you don't need to wait T+3 days for a trade to settle. The other small advantage is you can immediately trade (same day instead of waiting for one day after for funds for selling a stock held overnight) right after if your margin=the amount you traded so you can avoid the day trade limitation rule that brokers have.

Ex of last advantage: if you went all in on a stock and sold. If you buy another stock and try to sell it on the sameday you liquidated your previous purchase, it won't let you unless your margin covers the amount you traded (in this case your entire portfolio since you went all in). That's why you might sometimes get that red box day trader limitation warning which prevents you from selling same day even though you haven't used your daytrades. This fucked me over on JNUG one time when I wasn't aware of it. I would increase my margin to my portfolio amount to avoid the last scenario if you're the type to daytrade with a large amount of your portfolio.

Do research on them, and them buy the ones you think will go positive.

so I took the companies that are announcing earnings tomorrow pre-market, looked up their analyst consensus, current price and target price and made a list. Only the two bolded ones caught my eye. If you having money burning a hole in your pocket, FDC and TSEM might be good plays.

Personally watching AMKR and GIG.

Are we gunning for AMD? They're carrying a lot of debt and if anything, it looks like it's a bubble. Are we hanging our hats on their Ryzen?

and ZEN.

AMD is still a winner for 2017

Fuck man. I bought at 5.20 sold at 5.58 and rebought at 5.30.

Honestly would hope for a gap up and cut off the stock when you break even. There's some upside for this to run because personally think not enough people reacted to the stock. But if volume slows down it's got a lot of room to drop and that's what's making me antsy with the stock. I was hoping for it to go above 6 but didn't have enough juice. Just scared might be the same problem with this stock tomorrow.
