To set foot into research is something nobody should aim unless he wants to offer his ass to some profs and it is even more difficult to achieve. So I think you aim for an undergraduate degree at the moment? or maybe graduate? Look at cognitive science what is this field:

So we have a field that is extremely mixed and that is a problem, if you don't find a position where all of this is needed (out of interest it would be quite attractive). To make it short half of this subject is theory and philosophy of learning and the transfer into algorithms and computer based systems. The other half is the structure of such systems. As I know quite a bit about computer science and math, I tell you don't do it, I don't even know how they can call this B.Sc or M.Sc. With this amount of theory you could call it B.A. If you want something worthwhile in this field that wouldn't be so far away from psychology
