I want to learn to play an instrument but I'm not so sure on which one. It's a mix up between piano and guitar.
We currently own a keyboard, albeit a shitty one we picked up from a garage sale years ago for like $5. I've heard that cheap keyboards like that aren't as great to learn to play piano with because the keys don't function the same way they do on a more expensive keyboard or traditional piano.
As far as guitar goes, I know that I need to drop a decent amount of money ($300-$600) to get a decent one that will allow me to learn to play it easier. It's not necessary to spend that much, but my understanding is that it's recommended to spend some decent money on an instrument to ensure it has good build quality and isn't a cheap piece of shit.
I know there's a lot of resources online for learning guitar. A lot of people recommend Justin Guitar and several other sources. I don't know as many highly recommended keyboard learning sources, but I'm sure they're out there.
As far as learning instruments goes, I've heard people recommending learning piano first before guitar because it can help you understand music theory easier and it will make picking up other instruments easier. Is there any truth to this?
Would appreciate any input anybody can give on the subject.

I would recommend fl studio and get a drum kit similar to your style (dubstep jazz rock classic etc) it's all out there and all free.

i have a oral care question:
why is the common advice to brush your teeth atleast trice a day for 5mins and anytime inbetween you eat sweets?
isn't that going to fuck up your enamel like crazy?
i have been brushing my teeth once or twice a day since 28 years. i go to dental hygiene every year and they always compliment me on the lack of cavities. i also never had a single hole in my teeth all those years.
i'm asking because i'm not sure if i have to drill my son (6) to brush his teeh as often as commonly said or if i should let him brush his teeth with the same frequency as i do. so far, i only have him brush once (sometimes twice) daily and maybe for 2 mins, his teeth are perfectly healthy.
ofc i want him to develope good hygiene habits, that's why i'm torn here.
any ideas?
additional info: if i only brush once a day, i make that extra clean. with floss, tongue cleaning and mouthwash. we also use fluor gel once a month and have such oral brobiotic thingies for before bed.
we also have no issues with bad breath at all...

i'm also asking because there is a gap between gow i handle this and how my husband handles it. he brushes his teeth ALL THE TIME. atleast 5 times a day. and he has ok teeth. they are not very white (despite him not smoking or drinking tea/coffee/wine) and he had his fair share of holes/cavity. he also sometimes does have a bit bad breath. that's why i'm sceptical of brushing so often.
my son and i also exclusively drink still water (ok, he has a glass of apple juice or a hot chocolate every now and then) and i've told him to try to always flush with a sip of water when he's done eating anything. i also give him gum fairly often to clean out food bits and activate saliva production, which helps neutralize the acidity insinde the mouth.
he ALWAYS brushes before bed but only few times in the morning and never during the day.

If your kid has worse teeth genes than you, he might have to do more. Also my uncle had no teeth problems at age 40 and lost most of the. At age 50 because he was used to not having to take care of them.

I need some help. Basically I have just started a new job, and at first it seemed pretty great. Now in the past few days it's been pretty bad. Almost everyone is just as new as me, yet tries to tell me how to do my job, like I don't know how to tie a damn trash bag (yeah, that happened) I just thought I should either try to tell someone, or just ignore it because at the end of the day I still get paid and don't have to deal with that shit.

College: Accounting major
+ Got accepted to a private school. Ain't cheep, some scholarships, but parents might help pay.
- I hate school, got ADHD (I don't want meds)
+ Could find girls my age, sex (I'm a virgin)
- 4 years of my time
Trades: Electrician
+ Could get a job as an electrician right away
- Finding girls might be more difficult
+ Any girls I do find wouldn't be as likely to be in it for casual sex like college girls
- A little less money than my intended major

Quite frankly I'm leaning towards trade union. Been thinking about this for a while. My mother pressured me towards college. I could always go back later. I really just want to get the hell out of the inner city, ironically where the college is located.

The other night i was drinking at a bar and met some one who i wound up hooking up with sexual. During the hook up shit went sideways and i found my self in a really bad place, Handcuffed and unable to move. It was removed and the skin is white and looks fine other then minor pain and the face its white.. When the spoon was placed on it hurt but not as bad as one would think it would hurt. I'm not going to go in to detail's but need less to say this person when i was finally let go got a trip to the Hospital and is lucky not the morgue.. Its been 24 hours now it kind of hurts when shit touches but nothing else.. I was wondering as i can't find shit online if i should do some thing like use burn creams or some thing.. And Before you say go to the dr NO.. I rather not be like ya i fucked up allowed my self to be handcuffed by a total stranger because i wanted to bet my nuts off.. Oh and btw the police may be looking for me so ya doctor lets keep this between us.. Thats not gonna happen! so if there is any one who is in the medical who can give me some advice it be grate.. Like i sad it dose not really hurt i have showered in cold water and am keeping it dry and clean and using a bandage to keep the skin from rubbing on my underwhere. Is there anything else i can do ? also what are the chances of this doing damage like will i lose feeling? Also there are no blisters no cuts or anything other then the the skin being white.. and hurting from time to time.. I am using over the counter advil.. Any or all advice will be gratefully appreachated... and before you ask no this is real i am not joking sadly.. also no im not going to take any pictures and post them. Thank you for your advice

I could see why a manager at Best Buy would opt to hire the 16 year old senior who last worked at pizza hut and has customer experience, over the college graduate who despite the fact that he is more likely dependable and mature, has 'real world' experience and learned some technical skills and will likely leave once a job comes along.
So my 2 most recent jobs are those 2 internships (basically local tv networks). And I completed the degree. If I wanted to work at say Walmart or Best Buy, should I just make up my entire application? Say that I worked at my local supermarket, a local pizzeria, and High School/GED as highest education earned?

Its been 2 years of applying and not getting jobs. I've had follow up interviews, second interviews, final interviews. Skype, Over the phone. One on one, group interviews. Never gotten a job offer.
I need the money. Living at home. Used up all of my savings. I have enough to pay like 2 months more cell phone bill. See the dissapointment in familys voice. I just need to get out of the house. I an new to a Narcotic Anonymous group and I'm just 22.
Ever since I was 21 I drank heavily and had casual drug use, ever since 6 months ago I started doing drugs every weekend, mixing lots of shit (weed edibles,weed, MDMA, acid, clonazepam, alcohol, 2CB).
Anyways, I wasn't a long term addict, but I was still addicted, and I suffer from major depression and heavy suicidal thoughts.
Tomorrow would be my third NA meeting, should I brought up that I almost killed myself these 2 last days and that knowing and meeting the NA group helped me calm down and save my life?
I'm kinda autistic. Also it's still hard comparing myself (middle class depressed brat) to most people there that used to do crack and meth for years and that lived on the streets.

AA did not work for me, but GA is working for my friend, and I think sharing your story is powerful to all walks of life. If you're seeing an immediate and drastic shift in your thinking in just a few days of meeting, you're in the right spot, and there are a ton of different types of people in attendance.

a narcotics meeting doesnt help you quit drugs, it just there as a support group. you cant quit drugs if you have extreme withdrawal symptoms other than flushing it down or staying away from your dealer. i recommend seeing the doctor to treat those symptoms for those drugs.

How do you make friends? Whenever I ask someone to hang out with me, I always feel as if I'm being over-eager and needy, and usually get rejected. But if I don't ask people to hang out with me nothing ever happens.
So I guess, how do I ask people to hang out without coming across as over eager/needy. Pic tangentially related.

If you just ask "wanna hang out?" Lots of people will blow that off unless you are like, super good friends because they're like, and what?
If you ask "Wanna see a movie?" you might get better results.
Also if you aim is the make friends you're probably better off joining some sort of club or interest group. Search around.
If all else fails, try volunteer work, but try hard to find something you do actually care about/have interest in. Like don't volunteer at the animal shelter if you hate dogs or something.

Movies are usually my go to. I've both tried directly asking "would you like to go see x with me," and the indirect "I'm going to see x, if you wanted to come," route. Neither usually (ever?) work. I'm thinking of asking someone to come see Logan this weekend which is why I ask.
I've also joined clubs before, but how do you take it beyond the club? We show up once a week, or bi-monthly, are chill for the hour or two we're there, and then we don't even think about one another for another week or two.
