is 42k a year enough to live alone on?

depends on where you live. the cost of living differs dramatically from place to place, especially between big cities and small towns.
>>
>>18089295
Yes, depending on where you live and what your lifestyle is. In Manhattan, no...but people live their on half that, so there you go.

How can I stop being a NEET?

I've got a degree in English, I'm 26 years old, I've got no job and I still live at home. I have no desire or motivation to work: can anyone give me some advice to overcome my apathy?

some possibilities: Get a job, travel, write (anything, for yourself), read

Apathy is something you are supporting, it isn't somewhere out "there", it can't be overcome. Stop being apathetic and there will be no apathy.

You felt motivated enough to make this thread: the seed is there, focus on it, let it grow
>>

Don't you want something out of the world while you have the chance to live? To get many of the things you might want, you need money, and to get your own money, you need to work. What are some things you want in life?
>>
Get a job, obviously.

Should I get therapy for my crippling oneitus for my ex?

We've been apart for almost a year now and I'm still crying myself to sleep from time to time.

I've been with two girls since and it just felt wrong the whole way through, from time to time girls show interest in me and I return the effort but I just can't bring myself to have feelings for them.

How would I go about therapy? Can it be done on the phone?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>18089279
Yes you should. They can do sessions over the phone, but they're going to prefer face-face. Any therapist is going to at least want to see you a few times in- person and also from time-to- time. Do you have insurance? Find a private one through your insurance. If you're uninsured or have crap insurance, find a clinic. Clinics are pressured to show the client is progressing though.

A year is long enough. It's not like you were life partners, were you? It's long time you healed.
>>
>>18089389
I live in Spain, healthcare is free but I doubt I could get therapy for this kind of thing so I'd have to pay for it myself.

Anyone else here had this kind of therapy? Did it work?

What to do when high school girls flirt with you? It happens more often to me then you might imagine. I'm 20.

Dependung on their age and your interest either take it as a compliment and do nothing or flirt back. Know the laws in your jurisdiction and follow them.

I've recently started sleeping with my ex-gf again after we've been seperated for over 6 months. In the meantime I've had a thing going with a friend of mine who is unbelievably hot but also lives away several hours by train so we did not get to see eachother that often. Thing is, now that we're back together the other girl seems kinda jelly but still seems happy for me. Earlier my gf said she'd really like to have something with a girl, especially her (the inbetween chick). My question is: how do I get the inbetween chick to have a threesome with us. I know my gf would be into it, she explicitly said that just before I went to take a dump. Help me out, please.

>pic related. It's me, currently taking a dump.

There are two female "friends" in my life. They've been friends forever and also are roommates. Both girls work with me and a male friend of mine.

>Girl A: Broke up with her ex because he was "too controlling" a long time ago. She and I hung out more, she admitted feelings for me but said she was a serial dater and I got cold feet. Find out recently that she's seeing a new guy and when asking her about it, she said I didn't do enough. That really hurt, but I saw it as an excuse just to be with this cute guy she found. Slowly moving on.

Girl B: Pretty similar to girl A but is dating one of my best friends. She drinks and smokes a lot to deal with her problems(Like girl A) and the other day at a party, she got really drunk and just dumped my best friend infront of everyone. He's in shock now and we're trying to be there for him. This is a guy who pulled the engine from her car when she wrecked it and put it a new one last summer.

>What do we do here? I personally still like the girl that bailed on me, but everything I've heard about the new guy is that he's basically enabling her drinking and smoking. They're fucking a lot, spending lots of time together and she "loves" him already. I don't think these two know what "love" is and I think they've both thrown two really good guys in the garbage just so that they can have fun. How do I help my friend and myself?

OP here. One of my closer friends and I are trying to give our friend some space until he's ready to talk; but we'd like to throw a pizza party for him on the weekend and just be there. I just don't know what to say or do, like this girl that dumped him; she kept trying to start her car and ignored the problems it was having until finally she wrecked the pistons. The girl that I was into was similar(They are lifetime friends and roomates), she drinks a lot and crashed her car. I felt bad for her, helped her repair it, taught her about basic maintenance and was always there for her. Then she just up at met some random guy and said that he was doing more than me. Should I lay into these two verbally? Or let them learn there own life lessons? It's hard caring for people who don't give a fuck.
>>
>Being this beta
You must be white, neither of the two girls are worth your time, have some pride fuckface. Also your friend is a tool for dropping his hard earned money buying her a new engine and doing all the work, you need time to figure out what type of broads the women you surround yourself with are like, not doing everything for them as if they're your mom/wife/daughter
Forget the first chick, damn you guys are pussies
>>
>>18089007
Also no don't lay into them you turbofag, cut them off from your life, you can still talk to them if they initiate a conversation and you're too much of a pussy to have some balls but don't do anything else for these broads, fucking pushovers man
Bet you're the kind of faggot who gets mad at the guy who she's blowing now instead of realizing she's the cunt

I'm throwing a party at my house.

Me and two of my friends are DJing, I invited some of my friends from home, they're bringing drugs and nitrous balloons and I really want this to be a legendary and fun party.

But I have a problem. 2 of my housemates are lame as fuck and really want to have a spotify queue at one point which always ends in disaster, especially considering how bad everyone's taste in music is.

My housemate's girlfirend (this rich daddy issues white girl that thinks she is the coolest person around, despite looking and acting like literally every other girl on the planet) invited a bunch her lame friends.

Then a few other people just invited themselves along who are part of my 'extended friendship group' that I just don't want to be there, but I can't tell to fuck off because it would make me look bad.

How do I stop this from divulging into a lame ass top 40 fest?
7 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
By not going.
You sound like the party pooper here OP.
>>
>>18088993

You think so?

Literally every party we have is filled with lame Top40 music and girls instagramming the whole time. Somebody is always complaining about the vibe and there's always a fight over the spotify queue, and I swear I hear the same songs every single time. Eventually everyone gets drunk and leaves at half 12.

Since I moved out of the city this is what it's like.

When I lived in the city we'd just DJ, people would be chill, dance and have a fun time.

I just want to do something different for a change.

How do I do good in college?
I got a 2.5 GPA in high school mostly due to being unorganized and lazy
Im going to Montclair state in the fall and I want to get a good GPA (3.7+) so I can transfer to a more elite school the year after (thinking of USC since they accept a lot of transfers)
I know I'm gonna have to get my shit together quick if I want this to happen.
I think my main problems are organization right now. Im in my senior year of HS and I'm coasting through with a C average. I stuff all my papers in my backpack and hand in assignments late often. I know that a lot of kids do this in senior year but I have to stop this shit quick if I want to do good in college. I don't want to waste a ton of money on classes just to flunk out.
Am I gonna get a lot of papers at a uni or is it all digital now. If it's digital than it won't be as big of a problem

If you're lazy, don't go to college. If you're lazy, and your college tuition is expensive and or you're taking out loans, especially don't go to college.

I've been in community college for 4-5 years half-time. I'm a lazy sack of shit, and I have bought into 'sunken cost' fallacy. I'm gonna transfer this fall to a state university and be done with it. If I could do it all over, I would've done something else with the amount of cumulative time I've put into college -- which is a lot.

As per your question: no. You don't get hand-outs in college as a generality, but every instructor is different. I've had instructors who haven't gone 'digital' i.e. they're old fossils, and their classes were a pain in the ass.

There's a big downside to going digital in college. The publishing companies are running a big racket and swindle you with their digital e-book and grading shit. You have to spend like $150 on a license fee to do, say, your Math class, which is just pure bullshit. I've heard instructors say that they know it's bullshit, but it's coming from the top, so everyone just has to accept the financial rape.

You don't give a shit? I think you do. You are here trying to have people convince you. But that's the things. Waiting for others to enter you life with a detached and "cool" attitude on your part is not gonna help you. Be it a girl hitting on you or us rushing to help you, it ain't gonna happen like this. Sorry, but we don't have to go to you. Good luck in your life.

Seems like suicide as a man, but I would like to hear your thoughts.

>College-educated Americans are today more likely to be married than their counterparts with less education, at 65 percent to 53 percent, according to the Pew Research Center. Women with college degrees are more likely to have successful marriages, with almost 8 out of 10 in marriages lasting 20 years or more, compared with just 4 out of 10 marriages for women with high school diplomas.

Don't fall for the college meme. Most women go to college for retarded degrees and the men just put up with their retarded shit because the pussy is good. Intelligence isn't based on if you go to college or not, and MSNBC liberal propaganda articles don't help.

I do, but I don't feel like posting info graphics about women vs men when it comes to degree paths, success rates, annual income, etc.

Even with that info I don't think it would matter considering you listen to MSNBC "studies"*

Hey there, first time posting on here, would really like if someone helps me out, since i have no clue what to do. So, I have spent most of my childhood on the internet, playing online games, and had almost no contact with people in real life, girls to be more precise. That being said, im pretty bad at social stuff, sure i have friends, but could never really get a girlfriend. I was not really trying to either, some girls have hit on me in the past, but I was not interested. It's important to mention that I do not have an attractive body, and am even overweight. The reason girls have been interested in my before is probably because im fairly interesting, and not a dumb guy either, when it comes to serious subjects. To skip the boring stuff, I got accepted into the best school in my country, and this is where the story starts.

In my class, I have met ,for the first time in my life, a girl that i genuinely like, and a lot. In the start, she was interested in me as a person, but that does not mean much since she was generally quite social, and i would guess that she might have even been flirting a bit, but i really do not know how this stuff works.

Me being my socially awesome self, i did not notice that at all at the time, and when she called me to get something to eat with her at the break, i just went with my friends instead.

In the first month, she found a boyfriend, a guy who was really, and i mean really attractive, but broke up with him because he was generally a bad person. Afer that, I was absent for around 2 weeks, in which she found a new boyfriend, the guy was nice, he was not really attractive, maybe sligltly more than me, and she is really into this guy to this day.

Now, I would really like to somehow approach this girl, since as i told you, it is the first time in my life that I have actually liked someone I know, but I have no idea how to do so. Feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for reading :)

Anons, I need your help.
I'm currently at a mental institution where I met this cute and dazzlingly, drop-dead gorgeous Greek goddess. We got to know each other a bit and she asked me to go watch a movie on Friday with her. Thing is: I'm forced to see her in the meantime at this institution, especially on midday breaks, and I'm kinda anxious about not knowing what to talk about as well as awkward silences. Please, /adv/, help me not to screw this up. She's literally everything I ever wanted in a woman.

More importantly, how stable is the girl?
>>

I want to second this and suggest you find an in-person third party give you feedback on whether or not you should be dating. Your mental health needs to be good for love to blossom. If you met her at a time when it wasn't, proceed with caution.

(USA) How does schooling past highschool work? I'm 22 and never considered going to any college but now I want to go. I have an interest in computers so I googled that and a million different things came up. Different tiers of degrees, online and campus, multiple degrees for what seems like the same thing, however the fuck pricing works.

Explain college to me like I'm retarded.

>Explain college to me like I'm retarded.

College forces you to learn by holding your money hostage. Good schools will be more than worth the money, average schools will barely be worth it and any online school is a joke.

Do yourself a favor and find your nearest decent community college, get an associates and transfer to a decent state school for 2-3 years. You'll get the most bang for your buck that way.

Dont fall for the Ivy league or private school meme. Go to community college, kick fucking ass, and then the best state school you can get into.
>>
>>18088659
>multiple degrees for what seems like the same thing

On that, it really will not matter if you go for computer engineering or computer science or computer (insert word here). You wont be doing anything specific to your specialty until at least 3 year, everything the first two years is general stuff everyone takes if they are computer (whatever). The third and fourth year is when you typically split which classes you take.

Going to a community college will also help you narrow down where you want to specify. So dont fret if you get an associates in CS and want to do computer engineering at a state school, that is totally okay.

Mostly as long as you know you want to do something with computers being in the department is enough and over time you'll figure out more specific tastes.
>>
>>18088668
another side note

Other stuff like getting a BS vs a BA vs blah blah blah blah is nothing you are expected to figure out now, nor should it matter what it means. (though i would make sure you have the ability to get a BS or a BA in whatever field you choose) State schools will provide advising to suit your needs and future goals.
