What's with the huge difficulty spike when you first fight kefka and his army defending the esper
>>4180282
There's one really optimal configuration of your positioning, if you don't get it, it's tough, and you don't have long to set it up.
You also need to not finish fights as fast as you can sometimes if you need to heal. You also need to go in with enough potions for the guys that cant heal well.
Ff4 has a similar spike in yangs castle.
There isn't really any difficulty in the SNES FF games. If you don't run from battles, create parties with a good spread of skills there isn't anything to worry about.
If you're fighting all the battles, you should have the money to buy the best equipment. Even if you miss the good, secret pick-ups, you shouldn't be in over your head.
Also, every version of FF6, from SNES to PSP allows you to hold A and auto-fight. Sometimes you can even save the cursor location on a command, like Tools --> Auto-crossbow, etc. 'Grinding', if you need it, is as simple as it could be.
The game isn't very tough.
>>4180307
You should never grind before you get the first Espers because that's the only way as you can raise your stats like strength, magic power, speed and such.
Only just recently got into CRPGs, and I need some recommendations on what to play. Putting this thread here instead of /v/ because it seems pretty clear that the majority of good CRPGs are older games. Like I said, I'm relatively new to the genre, so variety in recommendations is welcome
Fallout 1
Fallout 2
Baldur's Gate 1
Baldur's Gate 2
Arcanum
Planescape Torment
Everything else is a meme tbqh
I really liked The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall. I have the CD-ROM somewhere.

Dark lands, but you should read the manual first. There's a lot of shit to learn
So I'm looking for a ms pacman machine to buy. Is it shitty if I buy a cleaned up refurbished one for 1500 with an LCD screen instead the original CRT screens. And also if I get one that has the pcb with 60 games in one? Or is that lame and not original?
>>4179716
>i'm looking to buy a ms pacman machine but considering unrelated hipster shit instead
So you aren't really looking to buy a ms pacman machine then, are you?
>>4179836
What I get an original machine and then switch the pcb with the 60 game one. At the same time I really want to play rally x and dig dug
>>4179853
It shouldn't cost 1500. I'd imagine 1k tops.
I've bought 3 Pinball machines and a Chexx '82 bubble hockey for under 1k.
Name something more 90's than this

Garfield was more of an 80's icon than a 90's one

I see your Sonic&Garfield(although this anon>>4179618 is right) and raise you Comix Zone.

What are the most RADICAL retro games ever, my dudes?
Define 'radical'
Remember that one time Joe was jelly of James and made a video imitating him, except not funny at all?
>>4179397
So he was exactly like James?
you're going to the tower to fight this guy. who's your final four? i need the answers to these things. the battle is easy no matter who you bring, but that's not the point. the point is which four make the most sense for you. personally:
first, terra has to go. that's a no-brainer.
second, i don't see how you can take one of the twins and not the other to the final battle. it just doesn't feel right. they're both too awesome. they're two and three.
so the only real decision is between locke and celes. celes is probably a better choice b/c runic and so on. she's also usually a better fighter and caster by this point as well. but locke is a bro and has been there from the start.
it's a tough call. if the roster was expanded to 5 as in ff4 i wouldn't have these problems. life would be so much easier.
Cyan just because he has the biggest beef with kefka
Terra, Celes, Cyan, and my 4th is a random choice between Mog/Edgar/Sabin
Only time I ever bothered with Locke is when there's a boss or enemies in a certain area that have something worth stealing.
4 imps.

What does everyone think of this one for playing retrogames?
A lot of people claim it's great for emulation.
I personally think it looks uncomfortable. It's clearly modeled after the 3DS XL, and those things are a chore to hold for extended periods since they're so top-heavy and lack any ergonomics whatsoever.
The glossy plastic doesn't make it any more appealing to me either, but that's more of a superficial gripe.
>>4178557
There is a thread about it already. Why don't you look first instead of posting?
Delete your thread and go ask there.
>>4178561
>I personally think it looks uncomfortable
Looks very uncomfortable to me too. One of the main reasons why I'm still using my old GCW Zero is because it's nice and compact and comfortable to hold, and not a XL-sized behemoth like the XD and Win.
Is it worth getting a power glove purely for collecting? I'm debating getting one because I'll never actually use it but I feel like it belongs right next to my virtual boy
>>4178341
>not wearing it at all times to show off your turbo autism
>>4178363
this. if you hide your powerlevel in public then you don't belong on this board

How many people in /vr/ are going to do the math with the 64bit multimedia system?
And fucking play what? Tempest 2000?
>>4177939
Who would buy this and why?
>>4177958
Clearly you havent played club drive
serious question, how did sega, a company that was at the verge of bankruptcy, make one of the greatest consoles of all time?
>>4177632
>One of the greatest consoles of all time
>Not even as good as the other three consoles from the same generation
>>4177632
Because desperation inspires innovation.
High Risk High Reward.
May we move on now?

This is the fate that will befall your retro game collections. Your grandchildren will see them as you see Hummel figurines.
Cool, I cashed out and only play pirated games on flashcarts/modded CD consoles.
>>4174025
>thing has market value: gets sold
>thing has no market value: gets in the trash bin
What's the problem?
The thing is that /vr/ is a fucking hypocrite that will artistically screech when millennials get interested in their shit but at the same time fantasizes about the day when they will be able to get their kids into their old shit they love so much. You disgust me.
What are some hidden gems for the Game Boy Color? I really love the lightly-shaded color aesthetic
>>4174021
Are you ready to play the best gameboy platformer, op?
>>4174021
I don't know about hidden gems but the Mario sports games on gbc were amazing. Dave Mirra BMX kicks ass. Power Quest is very fun and somewhat unique.
Medarot series. Actually not gems, just decent, but with lot of character, good music and they look really nice.
Comfy games.
