Who would buy this and why?
>>
>>4177958

Clearly you havent played club drive
>>
>This, in addition to the lack of internal development at Atari, led to a limited games library, comprising only 67 licensed titles.
>67
and what like only 2 of these games are not shitty ports who the fuck would buy this
>>
>>4177939
>do the math
There are 0 games worth playing and making a repro of one costs about $5. 0x5=0 So that's how much this is worth. lol.
>>
The homebrew community is actually huge and some games fetch a crazy amount that push the system to what it was meant to be. Theres about 3 dozen games with even the bad ones having its charm and a few being pure trash.

The atari jaguar had 3 processors that could make some serious sprite rendering, and if it had a proper SDK and not leave it to programmers to figure it out (like carmack did with the doom port, being the best version even without music) it would have flared much better.

Other notes! it should have came with a CD reader from launch, the modem should have been available (in 1994) which apparently works excellent, but only 100 prototypes were made. Including a VR set.

A rushed poorly marketed console, with a lot of capacity if people were shown how to use the machine.

The 3d is can actually produce, which looks more like an early n64 game (a game which got cancelled because the console was)

fb.c / roberthanthony.martinezrivero.1/videos/900886806744002/

Also if you play thea realm fighters on hardware, It plays very well. It used about 6 people from the original MK series and would have been ataris way of getting it right when it comes to ripping off MK instead of uh kasumi ninja.

Overall its atari's last console until we get the ataribox, which already had tempest 4000 announced for it. thats 2000 more tempests than, tempest 2000.

Atari basically invented games as we know them you know, so its heartbeat can be felt with its attitude of just going for it with how sloppy the marketing and production of the console was. It is still a very capable system, with really comfortable controllers albeit huge looking.

Anyway the prices for these things are going insane, i thought /vr/ might want to snag a console before it doubles again.

uh this video showing its 3d capacity. And 3 dozen games having good replay value, and a sleuth of homebrew.

The community is full of programmers and technicians and have a field trip just playing with this thing, never seen it with any other console. It went some version of open source or so in 1999 which let people have its way with how the machine works. Even getting source codes from games and improving them with enhancements and bug fixes. Also doom on the jaguar can be completely hacked with custom WADs, and with the flash cart can load 16meg roms instead of being limited to 4, or 6 when flashed in a way to hardware. Theres some 35 level doom split over three carts coming or something, but um yeah. 64 bits. yo.
>>
Jag has a certain... let's say "charm" about it. Games definitely look a certain way that games don't look on any other console so if the flash cart is in that China-cheap price range it'd be worth picking up but you just know it won't be. I'm guessing... $90 how close am I?
>>
>>4178009
The machine itself perhaps.
The games are 110% anticharismatic garbage
>>
>>4178014

You have to play club drive to the end.
>>
>>4178009

The same developer made a flash cart for the atari lynx which fetched 65 pound / 85 US. Id say itd be about the same.
>>
>>4177968

and 15 on the CD unit.. theres a tonne of betas and protos and released games that were unreleased too its more like 100 titles outside homebrew

The Jaguar is the fucking perfect system for a flash cart. People ask absolutely absurd prices for Jaguar games despite the general low quality of the library. This is a fucking godsend for anyone who owns a Jag.
>>
There is a kind of flash card for the jaguar thats been around for sometime, the skunkboard.

It works well and it pops up online from time to time to buy, but it doesnt have any memory for save games and you have to manually load roms everytime you want to switch, keeping 2 roms at a time on it. So yeah this is gonna be far better with memory and a GUI.

>the general low quality of the library.

>This is a fucking godsend for anyone who owns a Jag.

What? if it's a shite library why would any jag owner even want to bother playing it?

>WOO FUCK YEH jag flash cart! now i can play all those shit games!
>>
>>4178545

You seriously have to play club drive.

highlights..

alien vs predator (classic)
atari karts (mario kart ripoff but its pretty good)
battlemorph (cybermorph sequel, with 700% less where did you learn to fly and 2x better graphics)
defender 2000 (updated 2600 game)
doom (best console port)
iron soldier
iron soldier 2
i-war (feels like a 2600 game somehow)
fight for life beta (this is actually playable and an obvious virtua fighter knock off but its fun)
hover strike (its better on cd, its ok)
missile command 3d
nba jam te (excellent port)
pinabll fantasies
power drive rally
primal rage (great port)
raiden (excellent port)
rayman (originally programmed for the jaguar and ported to other consoles, many more colours and sprites and sharper)
ruiner pinball
skyhammer
super burnout (sprite pusher)
tempest 2000
ultra vortek
van disere skiing and snowboarding (sprite pusher)
wolfenstein 3d (updated resolution different hud)
world tour racing (a good racing sim)
towers 2 (its an rpg. its not bad.)
zero 5 (space shooter on crack)

unplayable:

checkered flag (8fps, terrible controls)
highlander (500ms lag on all input, alone in the dark clone on drugs)
trevor mcfur in the crescent galaxy (hideous design, painful to play)

Then theres ports which barely any different from other consoles..
But the highlight of the modern day with the jaguar is the homebrew, theres a massive amount of weird little
oodles people have made for the jaguar including romhacks for doom2 and more doom hacks coming.

Theres other gems and heaps of beta versions of games and prototypes and demos and all sorts of junk and crap.
Something about it makes me really relaxed and comfortable
>>
oh yeah battlesphere gold is top 5 and missed a few

breakout 2000 is good too

and supercross 3d is 5fps with broken controls (pictured)
>>

>the console with literally not a single game worth playing is the fucking perfect system for a flash cart
top kek
>>
if it supports cd games then it's definitely worth it
>>
>>4180795

They also got a lot of progress on a cd emulator for the flash cart too. The homebrew for this is gonna go nuts.
