Just a friendly reminder that this is coming out and you won't be able to get one at retail because of underproduction and scalpers.

Quit fucking sleeping and preorder

Reminder that no one gives a fuck about a shitty emulator box.
It's nothing but an emulator box. The fact that it's 'official' is a retarded justification for buying into this.
>games that are impossible to finish without save states
>>4183913
S&S is quiet doable without save states. Once you realize that all the maps are 16x16, even the ones that warp around, you can make your own maps easily enough with standard graph paper. None of the riddles are too difficult to figure out either. And there's only like one place that can trap you forever and the game does fucking warn you about it.

If /vr/ were to draw up a list of say the half a dozen - a dozen most essential retro games that everybody should play at least once what would be on the list..
I'm making the assumption say
>Doom
>Tetris
>Super Mario Bros
would certainly be on the list, but would games such as space invaders, pong, pacman be super relevant today or would more modern titles that have a bigger influence that is still felt today such as street figter 2 turbo, zelda, tomb raider, grand theft auto be more important..
I guess what im trying to say is... what are gamings certifiable classics, gamings shawshank redeption, the godfather as opposed to the analogous a trip to the moon or birth of a nation.
>>4183361
>games that everybody should play at least once
none, you play what looks interesting to you regardless of its status
>>4183384
Im dont disagree, but what im saying is there must be a general consensus of what the ten or so you must play this shit games are.
The same mentality exists in other forms of media, you generally find certain films frequently on top tens, sure taste is subjective, but if you polled a hundred gamers what titles are going to pop up the most frequently.
There are plently of games i fucking love such as dungeon master, the secret of monkey island etc, but i doubt the regular joe on the street would find them too enthralling.
Tetris though, every fucker knows tetris. Super mario bros, practically everybody know that..
What else?
Pokeman

Isn't this still taking place int he future though?
I wonder if the system is like a hand me down from her pa-
okay actually I doubt that. Nevermind.
Then again, I was born in '91 and I was collecting Atari and NES and Game Gear and such as a teenager for the first time. It isn't too odd for a kid to be into vintage games, I guess? Given her constant desire to prove herself, I can definitely see Asuka taking games pretty serious.

*bling bling* 1UP *wahoo*
thread. For now i've been avoiding combats as much as possible, but i'm not sure if i'm doing it well. I have to kill Undine, the wizard of water, but i'm too weak.
What a fucking failed experiment of a series.

use commander mode
>>4181249
What's the advantage, other than losing any control?
In this thread we discuss the game that fleshed out the lore or the series.
But Morrowind is not retro.
>>4174680
You seem to have no idea of Daggerfall's books and additional lore texts. Many (or even most?) books in MW are carbon copies from Daggerfall.
>>4174682
I know, I was just trolling. Bethesda needs to re-visit the Iliac, I want lore about Ebonarm. He's cool.
>battery packs are 30-50 dollars online
I got one of these with sega's own rechargeable from the 90s, instead of the actual battery adapter for fitting in AAs. Is there a way to make recourse that isn't buying the stupid pack at nonsense prices?
get a few of these i guess
>>4195083
no no, the problem is the actual box to put AAs in is a separate piece of plastic, a case that attaches to the back. The AA battery pack if you will.
The one I bought has sega's original rechargeable battery pack instead, it's the same deal but it was a proprietary rechargeable. Naturally being both 90s battery technology and being old, the cell on it is shit.
I wanted to use it with my modern rechargeable AAs but that requires the AA battery pack, and that goes for 30-50 online. So I guess I'm just boned unless there's some other thing to do? My best guess is to buy a hobby battery and put it inside the original power supply, but I don't know much about into electronic.
>>4195083
Holy shit. Where the fuck have these been all of my life?
Why were certain games like Gimmick and Super Bomberman 3 released in Europe (in English) but not in the US?
>>4194068
2cute4them
>>4194068
Markets are different. Probably turn their kids gay if they played them. Murcia kids needs guns and buff men shooting them. Kinda ironic really.. all tho buff men holding big guns..
>>4194068
Why were shitloads of games released in US but not in Europe?
Hey, /vr/. Would you consider the Full Throttle / Day of the Tentacle c̶r̶a̶p̶p̶y̶ ̶f̶l̶a̶s̶h̶ HD remakes worth it for the concept art galleries alone (if you're into that kind of thing)?
They're on sale on GOG now.
>>4193675
How many times are you going to fish for other people's opinions, dumbass? BUY THEM IF YOU LIKE THEM, DON'T BUY THEM IF YOU DON'T LIKE THEM.
I don't know how the world went so wrong to welcome little shits like you who can't form your own god damn opinions and just do what you want to. How hard is it for you to look at something and say, "Oh, man, I like the look of this. I think I can drop $x for that."? But you can't fucking do that, you have to consult an image board where people talk about games made over a decade ago in hopes that you'll be spending your money correctly according to popular opinion.
I hate you people. You all make me fucking sick. How the fuck do you go through life? It's gotta be pretty fucking sad to try and wonder what you should eat today, you might not have everyone's approval.
Leave forever. You don't belong here. It's obvious you're in this for the 'cool' status. Fuck off and infect some other hobby with your bullshit.
>>4193936
btfo'd, underrated, (you), based anon, 10/10, would finally acknowledge worth if dad, etc. Multi-paragraph mental breakdowns are an amusing bonus of this board, but I was mostly looking for actual opinions; let me pointlessly rephrase:
Say you already own and like the games, you are aware of ScummVM to bypass modern system issues and you don't really care for the updated visuals of these particular versions: are they though worth owning for the bonus materials (galleries, commentary "tracks") alone, or is it just the concept art galleries from pre-catastrophe mixnmojo.com and a 2-hour recording of a drunk Tim Schaffer jerking himself off?
>>4194124
Never worth buying something for art/commentary etc when that has almost surely been ripped and uploaded online.
should I sell my SNES collection?
I got around 130 games, all original, some CIB. total is worth around 3-4k. What do you guys says?
Do you need money? If so, sure. If not, no.
>>4193375
Yes. Sell it and put it towards something you can't easily replicate for $100 like you can with these games.
>>4193375
If you need the cash, sure. But keep the games not supported by it and buy an sd2snes so you can play all of then again.
Where do I buy retro shit? Fuck Amazon
Locally searching is your best bet to find good deals. Goodwills, garage sales, local retro game stores, there's lots of options if you keep your eyes open.
eBay is also essential, I'd say.
>>4193114
-Game stores know their shit.
-Goodwill is a waste of gas because they only have good shit like 10% of the time.
-Garage Sales are the same as above, if not worse.
-Ebay is alright.
Forums can be a good place to check.
Does anyone else wish the red and black aesthetic of virtua boy games applied to other games too? I just find it super comfy.
Not particularly
>>4192820
Using those red and blue 3D glasses gives a similar effect in loss of color because of the red and blue filters. If you have a nvidia gpu it has built in stereoscopic support so you can use those anaglyph glasses with any game.
>implying this wasn't the best area of the map
Hey fucking idiot, how about you tell us what game is it from instead of assuming we all know what it's from fucking idiot.

Anyone know what the differences are between the ps1 and saturn versions are?
>>4192317
there's a Turbo CD version but idk if that was the original or a prequel
The Saturn version uncensored some content during the game itself (the CG cutscenes are the same in both versions).
>>4192335
The Saturn/PSX versions are enhanced ports of the Turbo CD original.
>>4192530
Really! That's kind of interesting, I wonder what they decensored.
There's always so much going on with the time system, I always wonder what I'm missing.
>they managed to fuck megadrive titles on modern cellphones
What are the odds they will fuck a SG-1000 game up too?
>>4192150
Why would they even bother to make mobile versions of SG-1000 games?
>>4192158
The SG-1000 was rare outside certain markets so there might be some nerds out there who would buy them because they see them as something rare or unknown, and if they're selling genesis games already there are people who want to buy old console games on their cell phones for whatever reason. OP might have just been being hyperbolic as in 'they suck so bad they wouldn't even bee able to port an sg-1000 game
hang-on would be great on mobile though probably
>>4192193
If OP was being hyperbolic they did a pretty poor job. But free mobile ports of SEGA games doesn't scream 'SG-1000' to me. Master System MKIII sure, but the SG-1000 is a Colecovision; not only would the games be largely unplayable on a touchscreen, no one would want to play them.
