>"We did a focus group here in San Francisco, I'm trying to think what year this would be, probably late 2001, early 2002, because I needed to prove to the Japanese that our brand was starting just to fade away. And so we asked the focus group, a bunch of 18-, 19-year-olds, a classic question, 'If a video game publisher was a relative or a friend, who would they be?' Ah, EA. Arrogant quarterback, 6'5”, walks in, gets the girl, nobody likes him, blah blah blah, but, you know, fills the room with his big personality, all that. I can hear it now. Rockstar. Ah – that's your drunken uncle that shows up from Vegas once a month with a hooker on his arm and looking for money and then he's gone again. He comes in and he's the life of the party for a little while, and then he disappears for a long time. Sega. Yeah, that's your grandad. Used to be cool, but even he can't remember why anymore."
>"We filmed all of these, right? I packaged this up, and I said, 'This is our our manifesto for the future.' So we make a huge presentation in Japan, and I said, 'We need to be incredibly aware of the challenges we face as a brand at Sega,' you know, and so I play the video. Yuji Naka, Naka-san, maker of Sonic, is in the room. Now, he and I have a love/hate relationship on a good day. And we show him this, and it's subtitled in Japanese, and when it comes to that piece he just [slams his hand on the table], 'This is ridiculous. You have made them say this. Sega is the great brand, nobody would ever say this, you have falsified!' He just gets in my face. So I said to the translator, 'Tell him to fuck off.' And the poor guy looks at me and says, 'There's no expression in Japanese.' I said, 'I know there is.' And that was it. That was the last time I ever set foot in there."
thoughts?
That's ridiculous in and of itself but it looks like this article has a lot more than just that.

Hey /vr/, I own a Model 1 Genesis but was wondering if I should invest in a Model 2 instead?
My main reason is that I recently readup on the huge differences in Genesis sound quality, and I have a lesser sounding Model 1. Is the model 2 better?
Also, I can use a Model 2 SCD without the extension and that's appealing as well
http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?7796-GUIDE-Telling-apart-good-Genesis-1s-and-Genesis-2s-from-bad-ones
This should do it.
The Model 2 does not have better sound. If you want the best sound, you'll need to find an appropriate Model 1.
Not OP but is there any way you can mod the Model 2 for better sound? I love my Model 1 but I prefer the design of the model 2.
Don't know much about this game as it is not talked about very often. Is it good or bad?
It's just a compilation disk with a neat 3d hub.
>>3911703
It's a poor compilation. The extra content was nice for its time, but there's nothing there you couldn't find today on the net.
Fucks up the sound effects in S3&K and adds more slowdowns to Sonic 2. Not recommended.
i bought this game and i really know what it is, plus japanese language.
Puyo puyo tsu remix.

I do not understand all of the complains about the camera in Super Mario 64. After having played through it again, there is really only one instance where the camera is a problem; the star where you have to collect 8 red coins on tall tall mountain, in that mole maze. Otherwise, the camera never seemed to get in the way at all. Using C-Down to zoom it out seems to take care of all problems.
Why is the camera such a common complaint? I actually found it much worse in Banjo-Kazooie, which is strange, because people often say that BK's camera is far better. But while you can manipulate it more freely, it feels like you have to do so more often; it never feels like the camera is in the right place, whereas in Mario 64 the camera does a better job of being in the right place automatically. In BK it felt like i had to use the camera buttons almost as much as the other buttons. Also, I found Sunshine's camera more of a problem than 64's
There isn't a lot of things you can complain about in SM64. The camera not being totally free is a minor "flaw" that people point out a lot just to complain about something. Especially younger people or people who didn't play this when it came out.
How's Ape Escape's camera?
>Push left camera button
>camera doesn't move
fuck you
Did you ever regret not getting onto the Quake 3, Street Fighter 3 or StarCraft competitive train?
What's the point of playing video games competively?
>>3910995
For fun and sport, be it against friends or strangers.
It's just all about glory and show of skill in those games are visually impressive.
it would be nice get some money playing videogames but I'm ok with not having to play professionally
What went wrong? I finally played this game last week for the first time. The core of it I actually really like, it was a fun racing game with cool level design. I liked the controls; it feels like a running-based racing game should. The music was kickass. But why is it such a short game? Was it intended as a tech-demo or something? Because honestly you could have put the entire game on a demo kiosk in the mall and I would have been totally fooled into thinking it was the trial version of a full game. Is it unfinished?
At the end of playing it for a while though, I don't understand the hate it gets. Like I said, the core of the game is pretty solid to me. It just needs to have about...10x more content.
>>3910563
quality>quantity
>>3910575
There's just so much more to do with the game though. 5 tracks? Seriously? I just can't believe that after just 5 tracks they concluded "yes, this is all we need here" when all other racing games at the time had so much more content.
>>3910586
I see you still haven't played manxtt superbike. Only has like 2 tracks (4 if you count the reverse ones), still an awesome game though. It also supports the saturn 3D pad for much better controls.
any reason to own a saturn
The games.
>>3910513
you buy a console to play games
how are you having a problem with such a simple concept?
no, build a supergun instead
Does this thing works?
I want to display my laptop screen on my CRT. Is it good for gaming? Can I set my laptop resolution to native CRT resolution?
>>3910330
Expect a lot of lag.
i just got mine today and it did not fucking work
>>3910418
Was it the same from OP's pic?
New pickup. Which is your favorite Deception game? Thoughts on this entry.
>>3910060
By far my favorite in series.
The third one has some newer mechanics but I don't feel like they add anything to the game.
2 or bust.
Thats sick. I'm loving it. You kill children in this game and can torture people to death.
I just got into the series not too long ago
got ahold of a copy of trapt and realized it was part of the kagero/deception series, and now I'm looking for the rest of them
Why is accurate N64 emulation still so poor?
Obviously because N64 fags aren't smart enough to write emulators.
>>3910009
>Why is accurate N64 emulation still so poor?
N64 is such a retarded architecture that no one wants to put in the absurd amount of effort required to produce accurate emulation.
Complete lack of leaked documentation to work off and the "community" involved in N64 emulators is a dumpster fire.
I got the Famicom mini today. It's a cute little stocking stuffer, but it has some serious problems
-input lag
-colors are off compared to the original
-sound has that screeching quality that shit emulators have
-fds audio expansion is much louder than usual
Why didn't they fix this shit?
There's really input lag?
>>3909414
also has that seizure inducing strobing when scrolling the screen in sidescrollers
Colors are off because there's no precise way to display them using RGB.
>>3909415
It's an emulator, senpai.
Is there any list of decent /vr/ games with medieval/dark fantasy setting?
I literally constantly listen to this album and I need some vidya which will match the mood:
https://chaucerianmyth.bandcamp.com/album/the-canterbury-tales
The ones I already know pretty well, but I need something comfier (possibly RPG):
>HoMM 2
>Conquest of The Longbow
Inherit the Earth if you can stomach how furry it is
>>3909331
After the stuff I have seen, sadly seeing furries is a no-go for me. Tho I loved old Robin Hood movie as a kid. That one with Robin Hood as a fox. Fucking furries. I'll check the game out, maybe I won't care,
>>3909331
On second thought, that's probably not as dark as you want. King of Dragon Pass? Ultima?
Most /vr/ medieval fantasy games came out for the PC and Amiga
Let's talk about weird spinoffs and if they're any good or not.
This is actually a pretty good conversion of Puyo Puyo, even on 8-bit hardware.

Mean Bean Machine is ok but I don't see a reason to play this or Kirby's Avalanche over the original Puyo Puyo on GG, Gen or SNES.
