I'm in the process of ordering some custom copies of the Sochi 2014 hack of Blades of Steel, and some copies of that recently released homebrew loli janken game for Gameboy.
>>
Bought this thing recently, it's fucking great. Has actual chips instead of just globtops and the save feature works properly.

Early 2000s kids of /vr/: did you grow up with any retro games, or was your first console the PS2?

Born in 1993. I remember playing SNES and Sega Genesis when I really young. PS2 was the last game console I bought.
>>
Hate me all you want, born in '99. First system was N64. Played loads of paper Mario. Probably spent most time in childhood on either GameCube games or Halo 3 by itself.

I was playing Mega Man Legends for the first time last night and thought it looked great. Also beat Kagero Deception II recently and all the different models for the people you kill looked cool and varied. Definitely not the ugliest console, that's for sure.

Didn't see one in the catalog, so here we go!

Ive got both a NES console, and xmen 2 on genesis, and they both have pin issues.

NES: Two of the cart slot pins on the main board have huge gouges on them, and make for poor contacts. I dont know the type of metal, but they don't look like copper.

XMEN2: Has one pin that is essentially 'squished' and is kind of bunched together on its self. They are copper pins

I cant really find any good youtube videos of people removing pins(on just one side). this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx50YtEC2S8 has a good part about replacing a solder pad, but i dont konw if it will work for a 'pin'. Anyone have any knowledge/resources on pin replacements.

Also general repair for anyone to ask/answer q's.

If its a toaster then solder a jumper wire from the main board to the 72 pin connector.

I don't think there's a satisfactory way to fix a cart with broken edge connectors.
>>
>>3877431
shit, good point about NES pin. simply brilliant.

There is a way for the cart.. right when i posted that link I saw a few how-tos to fix 'pads' but it requires a kit thats about $20, or more. hoping for a cheaper solution, but it is what it is

You could get a cheap game that uses the same PCB and transplant the rom.

So how did Dan actually finally get to beat Sagat and avenge his father anyway, if he's such a shitty Street Fighter?
>>
>>3923712
reigning theory is that sagat took pity on him and threw the fight so dan could feel better
>>
>>3923714
That doesn't really make any sense, though, especially given all of Sagat's talk of honor and fighting fairly.
That's the main reason he turned "evil" in the first place after all, because Ryu turned a friendly tournament match into a near-death experience.

This is the definition of "bullshit puzzle"
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
What is bullshit about it?
>>
>>3923627
You solve it by smearing cattle feces on a Rubik's cube.
>>
You mean because you have to hold the lever down to keep the middle gear turning? I guess I can see people not realizing that. Otherwise it's a pretty standard puzzle.

Just bought a PVM, what is the best way to run SCART to BNC? Do I need separate sync and audio?
Also, what's the best SCART switcher?
18 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>3922883
You need the inputs that are on the back of your PVM. Probably RGB+S and mono audio. The best SCART switchers are expensive matrix ones.
>>
>>3922894
Okay, yeah my PVM has external sync and mono only, so I need something like my picture in OP?
As far as switchers go, are there any generic ones that will work or will they not work with the separate sync?
>>
>>3922908
Yeah, that cable looks fine plus you'll probably want a phono merger to be able to plug both audio channels into the mono jack (or a better sound system, the speakers in pvms are pretty poop). There are dirt cheap scart duplexers. Remember that retro consoles actually do turn off when you turn them off rather than going into standby and feeding interference into their lines. Scart is a blessing and a curse. It's so ubiquitous that plenty of low-quality accessories are available and its big-and-sloppy form factor often leads to crosstalk and outright shorts but on the other hand that same bigness also means almost all of them can be easily taken apart and fixed. As a general rule, you can sort of expect to get what you pay for but it sucks to wait for something to ship from overseas and then have to get a refund and try again. Someone in /crt/ can probably recommend a specific reasonably priced quality source. I used to like tinkering with stuff like that and getting a little of my blood on it but I don't have as much time to kill these days.

I'm in the Necropolis by I didn't bring a rope to descend into the vault. I did the quests for Set and the underground ghoul leader but if I travel back to Junktown to get one when I get back the ghouls are all dead and mutants invaded again. Did I fuck up somehow? I'm not sure if there's a way to make them survive or if they all die anyway

no.

IIRC the invasion is time based and always happens after a certain number of in-game days

I haven't seen one of these in a while, so I figured I'd be the change I wanted to see.
I got a strategy guide for the SNES version a couple days ago, so I'll dump some cool art from that (I don't have one of those fancy book scanners so you'll have to deal with pictures).

IKR thank God now they all have a massive proprietary amp guzzling internal one that heats up all those components and requires disassembly to replace once it burns out.

Would rather thave that than enormous power bricks or overheating internal power supplies that need loud ass fans.

Corded controllers. While I realize rechargeable Li-Ion batteries have less longevity, I appreciate that I'm no longer tethered to a set distance from my consoles. By the 6th gen, they were making long cords but still, the hassle it saves is great.

Define "good." I think that this day in age you'd be hard pressed to find one that won't be full of profiteers, resellers, investors, "market researchers," and general newfaggotry.

How is DigitalPress these days? That was my go-to back in the early to mid 2000s.
>>
I have looked at digital press in the past, I'll just sign up.
I guess good as in just not total crap. Not looking for big rock candy mountain, but at least a place that has some knowledgeable users and a more relaxed, mature, and friendly environment. Maybe only a handful of turds.
