Lets talk arcades and arcade games.
What are your favourite arcade games? What are you playing right now? Do you have a local arcade? Do you have a home setup (pics welcome and encouraged)? Any arcade memories from yesteryear?

My favorite arcade games are the classics. Especially vector monitor games. By the mid-late 80's home systems had enough power to do a decent impersonations of arcade games and only got closer after that. 70s and 80s were my prime arcade years so I may be biased.
There are many arcades were I am right now but they're pretty shit. Fortunately I get to travel a lot and experience some great ones.
I don't have space for a cab but I have a couple boards, a MVS, and the bits to use them with TVs and console controllers.
I have more memories of arcades than could fill >9000 posts.

>and only got closer after that.
well i mean aside from neo geo it was only around saturn time that faith arcade ports became a thing.
>>4054965
>What are your favourite arcade games?
batrider, guwange, undercover cops, knights of the round, metal slugs, elevator action returns, karous, psyvariar, battle gears god i could name literally loads and that's not even starting on pinball.
I have three arcades that are each 15-30 minutes from my house. An "admission for freeplay" retro arcade, a coin arcade with mostly 90s games, and a Round 1 for new and import games (we just got Magician's Dead which is fucking awesome).
For memories, there was a place in Pasadena (Califag) that I first went to when I was a little kid in around '96 that then closed in 2005, called Pak-Mann arcade. They used to get a lot of great stuff as soon as it was new, Daytona 2, Police 911, Gunmen Wars, Rush 2049, Star Wars Racer, and the first Initial D. Then there were a whole bunch of great games that I had only ever seen there. Dangerous Curves, Armadillo Racing, Jr. Pac-Man, Pilot Kids, Megaman the Power Battle, and Mr. Driller.
What made this game good?

Only played the first one but it's definitely one of my fondest Sega games from childhood. Are the sequels and GBA port worth playing?
Anri was one of my earliest waifus.

Shining Force 2 changes the artwork to be more anime, and it's a little less linear(gives you more opportunity to screw around and grind than the first one).
The big problem I hear with Shining Force 3 is that only the first chapter is translated, and/or it's a little difficult to get working. But this was some time ago too, so things may have changed.
As far as the GBA port, no. The introduction of a new character pretty much breaks any enjoyment you could have of the game.

This thread is going to be removed by the mods as soon as they see it, and rightfully so. I hope they slap you with a 24 hour ban as well.
>>4073756
Put that in the e-celeb general so you don't have to waste other threads.
sage for irrelevant thread.
>>4073756
I don't know what SNESdrunk is, but if those two fucks are hoping for you to be banned,I, uh, guess I am too.
I've been looking to dive into first person dungeon crawling for a while. Planning on starting with the Wizardry 123 collection for the SNES. Any other suggestions or recommendations you guys want to make?
I'd really rather not have to draw my own maos with pen and paper but if the game is worth it I'll suck it up
>>4073297
Play 5 and 6 on SNES, 7 and 8 on PC.
Ultima Underworld 1 and (to a lesser extent) 2 are easily the pinnacle.
>>4073312
>Play 5 and 6 on SNES,
SFC. No reason to play the American release of 5.
The PSX version has an automap feature. The parts are also in the correct order (Proving Grounds -> Knight of Diamonds -> Legacy of Llylgamyn) while the SFC mixed up the latter two.
Set it up like pic related to enable English language.
Option to turn on the classic view is marked with the green rect.
Can I get some recommendations of vns or games for the pc98 even if they're in moon runes? All these threads are always started by filthy EOPs and of course the selection of english translated games is really slim.
I was thinking of trying TOGE or Zatsuon Ryouiki. Anything with an interesting plot, really. I played YU-NO and fucking loved it ( have eve and desire in my backlog). How long are they? Have you played them?
Check out anything Koei, SystemSoft or Artdink if you want to play strategy or simulator games
>>4073176
Mostly looking for vns though. Or if there's a really good strategy game or something I'm interested too.
I'm not a fan of the standard PC98 command list adventure gameplay so I haven't finished a lot of them.
I did enjoy Nonomura Hospital which used a multiple choice. Can't really go wrong with élf.
any other franchise like Gals Panic?

If they don't get Arnold and Silvester then I don't care.
>>4072974
We already have Predator and other classic 80s movies, I fail to see how this could be done properly and why it's even necessary.
>>4072987
It's about 20 years too late for them and a Contra movie.
Just further proof Hollywood if creatively bankrupt.
Is there any device that can let me adjust the screen size on an sd tv? Games either crop or come too small. Is there something like a DVD player or a.v. device that lets me adjust the screen? I try to look everywhere but most information is about hdtv. I use component.

Pic unrelated?
Service menu on your TV, accessed by entering a secret code on your remote. Look it up.
>>4072942
I don't have a remote. Should I get a universal?
Can anyone recommend me a great Sega Genesis/Mega Drive USB Controller that works well with an emulator on PC?
>>4072829
An adapter
https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Drive-Genesis-Controller-Adapter/dp/B00QRZ1HVS
>>4072862
I would rather not usr an adaptor since I don't own a Genesis/Mega Drive controller. I am just looking for a good Genesis/Mega Drive USB Controller that feels good and plays well with an emulator.
>>4072829
I wouldn't recommend the retrolink Saturn controller if you're using it for long periods of time. Playin' Burnout Paradise broke my D-pad for me, but I was using that controller on good ol' Mame.
I just beat Sweet Home for the first time and loved it any another NES/Famicom RPG's of similar quality? I've read good things about Lagrange Point and was thinking of trying that next
Seems like you answered your own question.
>>4072662
Don't. Lagrange is fucking horrendous, even the score is shit, despite the super sound chip.
radia senki, sansara naga, check out the ff and dq games if you haven't already, mother, madara, sugoro quest
none of them are horror though
What do you guys think of this new fangled A Link to the Past Randomizer?
http://vt.alttp.run/randomizer
It's a lot of fun. Try the Super Metroid one as well.
doesn't even work
>>4072286
Enjoyable to watch runs of and good for replay value. Haven't tried it out yet but will probably do so if I'm sure I know all the treasure chest locations.
Did that anon ever dump this game? I found these old Gamefan scans today and wondered if this ever showed up.
>>4071502
>>4071502
Are we talking about the same guy from like 2014? Did someone else claim to have it?
Wasn't this game dumped years ago? Like, almost 10 years ago. I even have the rom.
What does /vr/ think of Live A Live?
I was going through old SNES RPGs I missed and I heard a few mentions of this
>>4071453
I like how the caveman story only has one word of dialogue
>>4071640
Didn't really need icons for that plot which was basically "I see a sexy cavegirl and I wanna fug".
>>4071453
Anyways...
The mecha route is an adventure game with no fighting except the boss fight and an optional arcade game within a game. Theme feels a bit like a mix of Alien and Space Odessy 2001.
The cowboy route is short but fun. Just set up some traps and fight a boss battle, then you choose whether you want to kill your nemesis/bounty hunter.
The Kung Fu route is basically a rip off of Enter The Dragon. You also get to pick which student survives and becomes the main character in the final route. Nice music too.
The future/giant robo route is long but quite easy and boring imho. Take note that you should keep some of the robot accessories on Akira, so he can pass them on to the Robo in the final route, to unlock some skills.
The Street Fighter-ish route is probably the 2nd hardest? It's short but you have to figure out the weskness of each opponent to win. And the final boss requires a bit of luck to avoid one of his more powerful attacks.
Ninja route is rather tricky. If you go stealth, you'll probably need a walkthrough(inb4 walkthrough are for fags and cheats and butthurt) , and it would make the endgame harder as your level won't be quite as high. If you trick to kill everything for the XP and equipment, it's also rather tough like the Street Fighter route.
One of the places you fall into is also incredibly hard to get out of without using a emulator to throttle the speed. You need to kill off a bunch of spirit in succession before they regen, to escape a certain dungeon.
Odio/Medievil Route is probably the favorite of a certain political board because they enjoy their rage over cuckoldry. Kek.
This contest looks pretty cool. Anyone else heard anything about this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZktm8PhxGg
i've been in a few chats with the creator (threxx), he's a massive asshole. i'm still gonna enter though, since he's not even judging anything so it doesnt really matter that he's an asshole
desu this looks really cool, i'm entering
