How did these become popular again?
>>4078096
There was no alternative.
>>4078096
Yeah X-Arcade was one of my favorite video games back in the 80s, I must have put $1000 worth of quarters into that thing. Guess you had to have been there to really "get it".
>>4078098
Then WTF were these doing in living rooms?
This game lagged the shit out of my emulator and I don't have a ps1. Will it run smoothly on a PS2?
That depends. If you have a ps2 fatty it has ps1 hardware inside and should play this game well. Is it game play or is it just cut scenes that are lagging?
>>4077962
Inside the game. All movements and actions are lagged
>>4077950
>my emulator
isn't it easier to just use a good emulator instead of the same shitty version of epsxe you have been using since the 90's because you can't be bothered to download a new one?
I've watched some video's about forgotten games yesterday, made by a youtuber called Vectrex4Life. In this series where also video's about the classic Lego games like Lego Island,Legoland, etc. I remember playing all of these games when i was a little boy and i really want to revisit these games again.
Unfortunately i'm not so computer-savvy and i do not own the discs anymore and i can't find them for sale anywhere in my country. Is there a way to play these games with or without an emulator on a Windows 10 PC? I remember playing Lego Stunt Rally using an emulater about a year ago, but i can't for the life of me remember how i did this. Also, general Lego Games thread. The games i want to play the most are Lego Island 2, Legoland and Lego Creator.
Edit: I do have knowledge about emulators, as i've succesfully played the old POKéMON games using emulators. I just don't know how to do this with these kind of PC games, if it's even possible at all.
How the fuck you don't know how to use an emulator? You could, you know, just use Google.
And some Lego games had PC ports. Just pirate it.
>>4077814
I did, but just came across some shady links. I'm not so knowledgeable about these things, so i thought i could find some help here.

nah, even IV has a better OST than VI
For those playing NES games with emu, what is your preference when it comes to aspect ratio?
Do you play with square pixels, or do you use the emu option to stretch things a bit to get the same aspect ratio as it was on TV?
Depends on the game. Just find something that's supposed to be a circle.
What is the canonical aspect ratio for pixels for NES games? is it standard for all later consoles, too?
in ads it's always stretched, it also looks more comfy and reminds me of how games actually looked, for example smb in 8:7 and without blur doesn't look familiar at all.
Did Sonic even show up?
Of course he didn't.
He was busy elsewhere
>>4077565
he didnt have to
Any remakes of games you've enjoyed?
Got this on steam and I really like that the exact same gameplay mechanics are used, but there's an in game toggle for the remade aspects.
How was this one? Curious while it's on saleWhat a great year for remakesI assume, i havent played them yet
The Wonder Boy remake is fantastic. It's exactly like a Master System platformer with the graphics I've always wanted.
>>4077078
In a sense, it's easier than the original because the zero-gravity controls are much better.
There isn't much added content. I think there's a few added events, a few bosses (and final boss) and a new section. The game is still rather short - you probably could finish it faster than the original.
Hey guys, I'm having trouble playing backups on my PS1 using the disc swap method. I tried burning LSD onto three different CDs: one with just the bin file, one with the bin and the cue file, and one with an ISO made from the bin and the cue. I burned them properly AFAIK (used IMGburn, it's pretty straightforward and I've done this before with Xbox games), but for some reason I can't get them to work on on my PS1. The disc swap method I'm using is swapping the genuine disc to the backup once the second (black) startup screen loads, swapping the genuine disc back in after the backup slows down, then swapping the backup in after the second screen goes to black. This worked with two genuine PS1 games, so I don't see why it would work win a backup. Sorry for the tech support post, but I've been reading shit online for the past couple hours and couldn't figure out what I'm doing wrong. PS1 model is an SCPH-5501. Thanks in advance!
>>4076997
>so I don't see why it would work win a backup
wouldn't work with
>>4076997
Buy a Game Enhancer 9 to cut out most of the human error as far as disc swapping goes, buy some nice CDs (Sony or something), and burn the .cue with ImgBurn as slow as possible.
>>4076997
try doing the swap with a different game, and try burning with alcohol 120% since it has a built in preset for PS1 games. you can also use this preset to make your own copies, so try doing it with one of your games.

YOU DID IT!
Never seen a American MD/Genesis cartridge. Is this original so far? The made in China...
Nothing?
Well, after searching for 20minutes I found a pic. That is original.
Sorry for the post. For a moment I though every American cartdrige was made in Japan.
Let the thread die, please.
>>4076905
There were also American carts made in the USA and Mexico.

YO U THINK YOU GOT GAME BOI? LEMME SHO U HOW.ITS DONE!
*shoots a 3-pointer*
So, I just replayed MGS1 for the PS1 for the first time in about 10 years. I played the game many many times as a kid, getting all the extras (the bandana, the stealth camo, both combined, the tuxedo, etc.) and i know the game pretty well despite having not played it in a long time.
Several times throughout the game there were parts of the script I could not remember, pieces that felt new or changed. The only major one I can remember off the top of my head is at the very end of the credits when Ocelot is talking via codec to the President. Ocelot refers to him as Solidus, which I didnt remember happening before. I remember Solidus being a thing for the firs time in MGS2.
So my question is this: Were there two different versions of the PS1 MGS1 released with minor script differences? or am I just misremembering from 10 years ago?
Every time I google this I get answers talking about the differences in MGS1 and the remake The Twin Snakes, but that isnt what Im asking. I want to know if there were two versions of the PS1 MGS1 released.
Thanks in advance.
>>4075849
P.S. I guess I should mention that I played this on an emulator as opposed to the PS1 like i did as a kid.
>>4075849
Don't think so. Ocelot's line was "Nobody knew you were the 3rd one, Solidus" right? Pretty sure that was always there, yeah. I think 2's the first time they call him George Sears though.
Uhh that always happened. That's kind of how memory works. You misremember small details. Congrats on being done with school for the summer.
What version of Earthbound (NES) should I be playing?
The original prototype without Zero edited into the title works fine, right? I know there are some hacked versions, but those hacks were only needed to make it run in Nesticle, right?
>>4075098
>What version of Earthbound (NES) should I be playing?
None of them.

>patched mother 1+2 rom
https://nicoblog.org/gba-roms/23/
>color restoration patch
http://www.mediafire.com/file/6k02mgzj501on8a/
No, the nes prototype has a dry translation and censorship. This is the gba version from mother 1+2, above is a already patched rom. This version has a better translation however due to inferior hardware does have problems such as inferior sound and screensize. Overall this is still the best version. Color was also affected however a patch to fix the color exists, I also put this above. You will have to patch this in yourself though.
Every version of Mother 1 will have some problem, just deal with it. Don't listen to idiots who say to play the 25th anniversary hack or the EBZ version.
The Japanese one.
Was wondering what everyone here thought about this. Was thinking of getting those hd retrovision component cables. I only have an SD CRT without component and an HD CRT that won't work with the zapper, g 2, ect. So I'm thinking of using a component switcher with 2 outputs and downscale one of the outputs back to composite to the SD CRT just for light guns games. Would a downscale introduce lag? I don't know too much on those. Happy to see what everyone thinks or any other ideas!
It's unlikely that the switcher will downscale the component inputs to composite, if that's what you're implying. I guess I'm confused about your question.
Why not just use your SD display for SD consoles and the HD one for modern crap?
>>4074413
Sorry i didn't make that clear, was thinking on top of the switcher, send the other output to a downscale then the as crt.
