As someone who isn't a retro gamer (despite being old enough to be), would you advise me to stick with this game if it's boring me after the first hour?
Nobody is a "retro gamer" (or a "gamer" for that matter), that kind of vocabulary wasn't even used back in retro days.
I mean, maybe there were some rare instances where some magazine would wirte "gamer", but it wasn't like the urban tribe it is today.
You being a retro gamer or not really has nothing to do with it, every fucker's played this game, hell most of its fan-base are teenagers. But yes I would, it's got a slow start. Maybe give up at hour 3 if you're still not feeling it.

the first couple of towns and maybe some late game dungeons are the best parts. if you aren't having fun, do yourself a favor and stop. it's a long boring slog.

So?
I have a technical question about how the Moon worked in Majora's Mask. Was the moon render the same size and it indeed 'fell' closer to the ground, or was its center at a fixed point and it merely blew up to a larger size as time passed?
Obviously the latter. That said, the earthquakes make it seem convincing enough of the former.
I propose an interesting experiment for somebody to try.
With a cheat device, figure out the variable for the 3day time mechanic of the game, and while looking at the moon adjust the time and see if the moon's placement/scale changes on-the-fly relative to the time value. Even try inserting a value which would represent a "4th or 5th day" and see if the moon's position is relative to this value (which would likely be inside of the planet at this point) or if the moon's scale becomes ridiculously large.
I would imagine they'd program it like this and I severely doubt they'd have any extra code preventing the moon from "getting too close to the planet" or the moon "scaling too large" as the game is going to be over at the end of three days.
You'll find your answer there.
I just tried playing the first game, and it was punishingly difficult, that I could not finish it. I do like the game's controls and style, but it was just too difficult for my taste.
So do the other 2 games get any easier? Or are they still just as terribly impossible for plebs like me?
They're easier, but American NG3 is arguably harder than the first

>I just tried playing the first game, and it was punishingly difficult, that I could not finish it. I do like the game's controls and style, but it was just too difficult for my taste.
Try some more you fucking retard, i 1 credited the first in under 10 hrs so try using your brain instead of playing on mindless reaction waving around like a twat in the wind.
>>4147303
Well it's 20-30% easier in Europe since they use PAL
IDK where else to try and ask this question, but I can't remember the name of this game.
It was on PC.
The art style is similar to image posted (baldur's gate)
Think there was 3 classes (wizard, warrior, archer)
Top down view.
You start in a town (can't walk around)
There's a tavern, shop.
You click to enter, there's a portrait of the NPCs when you talk to them.
(I THINK it was voiced)
Free roam areas with fog of war.
Starting area is forest with 3 paths (up, right, down)
Once you leave the city, top right area, there are ogre(s) that you can talk to (or kill, but hard) The ogres were like grey/greenish tint colored.
There's colored armors Blue/Green armors, when a NPC dies, it drops exactly what it's wearing.
There's like a desert level later and all the guards are wearing green armor.
Umm, if you use a cheat to reveal map on very first level there's a dragon in the bottom right corner of mountains.
Please, if you have any ideas or can send me off to a place that could help! :D
All the enemies had health bars under them( green to red )
Pretty sure it's Between 1996-1999
Never played it so i'm not sure if its correct but is it Nox or Divine Divinity?
Why did older bootleg games have such nice presentation?
Older Famicom carts from back in the day had this nice minimalistic design with original art. No game title though, just a number code, but it looks so much better than the more modern "SUPER MARIO DUPER SONIC ADVENTURE MAGICAL KINGDOM" with collages using art from modern games, I've seen a famiclone Mario cart with Mario Sunshine cover.
>>4147153
Well, the example you have isn't original art, it is just the Famicom SMB art with Mario edited out for some reason. Or maybe you meant THE original art, in which case yeah, basically.
As for your question, the most likely explanation is:
>Hey, our bootleg looks like those other bootlegs, only with a different shell color and product number.
>Why would someone choose ours over theirs?
>I know, let's put a title on it making it seem like something exciting. Super Mario Warriors sounds good.
>Hey, now that other bootleg game also has an exciting title... Well, let's make OURS have some super high number after it to make people think it is a fresh, new game when it is still just some generic spritehack garbage. Super Mario Warriors 8, we'll call it!
>Oh, they made theirs Ultra Mario 10? Fuck that, we're putting Mario with a gun and Robocop on the label and filling the game with repeat ROMs and calling it ULTRA MARIO WARRIORS 85 99999 IN 1 and a little starburst the says NEW GAME. That'll make all the kids buy our shitty bootleg!
Basically just piratestrying to differentiate their shit from everyone else's in a way they thought would appeal to whoever buys bootleg Famicom crap.

I'm looking for games like pic related, fighting games made for single player.
Also can be fighters that have a sizable single player content including some ability to upgrade yourself (again like pic related)
I also remember the fighting ports on the neo geo pocket being like that. Thanks a lot
I recall Joy Mech Fight's single player being fairly big (Lot of fighters, multiple boss characters). It's the usual arcade-style progression though.

why no darkstalker 2 on playstation?
Because playstation got a (bad) port of darkstalkers 1.
I do have to wonder why, because it was a pretty darn popular game in its day, more successful than Darkstalkers 1 (and 3, even.) I do know that the Saturn port as initially being developed as a port of Darkstalkers 1, but then partway through development they switched to making it a port of 2. That might be why it had options to use DS1 music and stage colors.

>Hunter more successful than Savior
Why?
Would you /vr/oom /vr/ooms like it if I made a ROM website? The only one I know that still hasn't been raped by Nintendo is LoveROMs, and that's annoying as hell to use. I have the ability to make it but I don't know if there's any demand for it besides those threads that show up every now and then complaining about not being able to find a certain ROM. What do you guys think?
>>4146961
we already have one i can't remember the link for it though has full rom sets for pretty much everything
really wish i downloaded the complete romset for GBA and GB games from this website before they took them down
I've come up with a list of games I will beat before Sept. I've played most of the obvious big games for the retro consoles, so I'm going for other titles now. Many of them I've started, but never beat. Some of them I've beat a few of the games in the series, but not the most. Largely platformers for the NES, SNES, and PS1. Tell me what I should be adding or removing from this list. I don't like rpgs,
>Cocoron
>Little Sampson
>The Adventures of Little Ralph
>Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero
>Front Mission: Gun Hazard
>Mega man 4
>Mega Man 5
>Mega Man 6
>Shatterhand
>Batman (nes)
>Willow (nes)
>Soul Blazer
>ActRaiser 2
>Illusion of Gaia
>Terranigma
>Power blade
>Faxanadu
>Gegege no Kitarou Gyakushuu
>Mega Man x1
>Mega Man x2
>Mega Man X3
>SD Great Battle 4
>SD Great Battle 5
>The Battle of Olympus
>>4146735
Man how do you have the time to beat even half of those?
Summer break?
NEET scum?
I know most platforms are fairly easy once you know the patterns, but still.
Do you do anything else?
>>4146750
Summer break. I ain't gotta do shit until Sept. I'm super board. Most of these are short platformer games, like 3 hours. I can beat a few in a day.

Pocky & Rocky
Gokujo Parodius
Pop'n Twinbee
This game is cool, but taxing emotionally. They throw you into a sea of information immediately. It's not that hard to pick up, but it's one of those games that always has you thinking you might be doing something inefficiently.
The atmosphere is extremely oppressive, though in an aesthetically pleasing way. There is a dire feeling to everything, reminiscent of Valkyrie Profile.
I've always enjoyed it, but only now in my third time trying to play it have I gotten very far. If the save file "map" percentage is an indicator of progress, I'm 12% through the game. Just beat the golem boss. Still haven't figure out why my combos aren't chaining after 1.
Thoughts?
>>4146640
>Still haven't figure out why my combos aren't chaining after 1.
you can't use the same chain ability twice in a row, you have to mix them up
>>4146646
Ah, should have thought of that. Thanks.
>>4146640
I'm thinking of getting into this game myself.
... with GREAT intro
>>4146560
that game was ASS
not a good game in retrospect but i'll never forget the day I went over to a new friend's house and played this for the first time
this was years before Budokai (which wasn't good either), hell even before the Android+Cell saga aired on TV - seeing and playing all these characters I had heard about but never seen was like a dream.
