Just wanting to ask if the new version of this game was ever released as a rom? The new version with new codec icons. Was it only exclusive for MGS3?
romcucks are funny
Go back to /v/, nigger.
Recommend me some good games with focus on exploration and puzzle solving (that aren't graphical adventures), NOW!

Super Metroid?
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Iron Maiden
the first four tomb raiders, I guess
although they also have platforming and some combat
Did Voodoo cards really deserve all the praise that they got back in the days? If a game released today supporting only a proprietary 3D API for one vendor, there would be an outrage (something as trivial as PhysX is already heavily criticized), but it's okay when 3dfx does it?
Back then there was no expectation of all cards supporting all popular APIs. It was the same as the sound card wars in the 80s to early 90s.
The 3dfx bootlicking was real.
The Nvidia FX series was the outcome of them acquiring 3dfx. Look how that ended up.

FX just sucked at DirectX 9. For DirectX 8 stuff it was actually very solid, probably even better than the Radeon 9700 series.
Anyone here play this? Is it any good? Really love the idea of a Godzilla game where you're trying to stop him rather than be him. What are your favorite retro Godzilla games?
Play this instead
The only Godzilla game I played was the NES one.
It's not really that good, but I remember playing it, forcing myself to like it when I was a kid, just because it was Godzilla. Ultimately, it let me walk around being Godzilla, that was enough for me back in the day. Fighting the other monsters was cool, but I never beat it.
For some stupid reason, I never played any other Godzilla game, I know there's a pretty cool fighting game on SNES, which I'm planning to play sometime. I also think SNES has some other game like the one you're describing OP (you try to stop him). The Gamecube fighting games seem like they are a ton of fun, but also never played them. And I tried the new Godzilla game for PS4, it was horrible.
And of course, Godzilla as a boss in Revenge of Shinobi was awesome. A small-scale Godzilla, but still cool.

>Godzilla as a boss in Revenge of Shinobi was awesome.
Don't forget Mechagodzilla in Shinobi 3 as well. They even include the twist from Terror of Mechagodzilla in the fight.
I'm an idiot so I might've missed it but I couldn't find one so here it is.
It was a genesis game, I'm absolutely sure of it. I distinctly remember my dad buying me a genesis at a garage sale in the early 2000s, played some sonic on it, but there was this other game too. All I remember is that it was a platformer with a fat rayman looking guy that took place at night in a haunted mansion. It looked like this, to the best that I can remember. I distinctly remember one section where you're walking on the top of a brick wall, like castle battlements, and it was a long walk.

A DOS game similar to risk but with more cartoon graphs and more animation.
>>4148892
Dynamite Headdy?
>>4148892
A NES game
You control a car in a labyrinth like map, you play top down
The map is like in the pic, the rectangles have openings and every time you enter one the screen zoom in and show you the inside of the rectangle which has some kind of monsters and is labyrinth like
What does /vr/ think of this game?
very dated
>>4148140
Sucks terribly
It's on Nintendo 64, so it's automaticallygoing to trigger a lot of people
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is overrated desu. Let's discuss this superior installment instead. Why did Goroku or Baban never show up again, despite having more interesting gameplay than Yae or Sasuke?
>>4146432
Oedo daikaiten was better.
>overrated
>superior
I feel dark times are coming to the until now peaceful Goemon threads.
I played Akogingu, it wasn't my favorite Goemon game, but it was good. The new characters were weird, I prefer the classic gang.
>>4147889
I agree, this was more enjoyable.
>>4147889
The GG2 rehash with worse graphics and music ripped from GGA? Heck no.
is there any advantage of owning this if i already own a ps2 and ps3?
So you can play backup and import games
PS3 can't do 240p, so if you're on a CRT the games will look like blurry ass. I also don't think it's 100% compatible with all games. PS2 can do 240p, and if you're murrican, you can just use component cables instead of RGB which is typically a lot cheaper.
Basically no, unless you want to hear that sweet sweet intro sound and want longer loading times. An argument could be made for PSIO as well, if that's what you're into.
>>4138917
The boot screen.
This game is utter shit.
Is it possible to enjoy it without the nostalgia vibes?
not shitposting
genuinely interested if any one picked it up for the first time around >=2000s and liked it
I'll see your "SMB is shit" and raise you a "Sonic was never good."
>>4138231
maybe, Idunno. don't care about sonic, never played it when I was little.
What are the absolute best non-jrpg top down games? A Link to the Past gets a lot of credit but I feel like there is more out there that deserves recognition
>>4133535
Illusion of gaia is an awesome game, I don't get why /vr/ loves to hate it.
>>4133535
Kiki Kaikai Nano no Kuro Mantle/Pocky and Rocky on the SNES is one of the best games from the 16 bit era. It's a top down run and gun shooter. Excellent in co-op.
>>4134082
I've only played a few minutes of Outzone so I can't judge, but Twinkle Tale and Shock Troopers are both superb as well. I'd say those two and Pocky & Rocky are on the same level.
This looks like its gonna be the perfect emulation controller
Are 8bitdo controllers good in quality though?
>>4133074
this thing really needs handles
>>4133074
I have the sfc30 one and it's absolutely amazing. no complaints whatsoever.
I've heard people complaining about the dpad but mine works perfectly.
>>4133082
If you read online in forums, the dpad issue only affects a certain range of serial numbers. Those are likely all already sold.

When I remove the C205 from the twin famicom, am I supposed to replace it with a wire to maintain the circuit?
My BVM1911 monitor lost horizontal deflection, then vertical within a minute. I think maybe its the power supply, as the GB board (an overprotection board attached to the main "GA" power supply board) shows a high/low voltage fault. Anyone know how to diagnose this? There's the PDF of the BVM2011 which looks identical. I also have a hard copy of the monitor for the actual BVM1911 but no good way to scan it. I don't know much about about this stuff, but I can solder and use a multimeter. Any tips on where to start? The pdf is here if anyone is so kind as to take a look http://www.retrorgb.com/files/monitormanual/Sony_BVM-2010p_Operation_And_Service_Manual.pdf
Pic is of the GA board (power supply). Schematic on page 170 (5-73) of the pdf
Hey, /vr/, board traveller here. I was wondering what are some /vr/ approved videos that have to do with the technical inner workings of older systems. I've been watching a few based on how sound works and have been finding the stuff fascinating despite being a novice in technical knowledge.
fascinating like how?
like Sony making sound components for both Sega and Nintendo.
like yamaha master race in mega drive
like famicom with its sound expansions being controlled by midi devices or tracker software
>>4154781
Mod videos are the closest you're going to get
>>4154804
It doesn't have to be hardware or sound related specifically. Perhaps impressive older games that were programmed cleverly or how things work in that realm.
I fucking hate this guy so much.
it sucks that you can murder lord british in cold blood but this son of a bitch gets to live until the story lets you kill him
>>4152093
You don't even get to do that - he fucks up and gets himself killed.
in hindsight, Ultima 7 wasn't all that good
Best movie game of its era.
>>4145375
>not Batman
Not even the best Super Star Wars game. RotJ was the best game.
>>4145375
wtf he keeps recharging his health
