Trying to get the last music coin in the void stage, but it's surrounded by yellow stuff that teleports you. Anyone know how to reach it?

Also, what's your favorite Wario game, /vr/?

If it's the coin I'm thinking of, you have to use the squashed Wario that makes you fall slowly and glide back and forth. It would be easier if you had a picture of the coin.

WL3 is my favorite but I also enjoy 2 a lot. 1 and VB are both pretty cool, too.

I have literally never made the effort to collect all the coins in WL3

Are the ps1 versions good? I want to play them since I remember loving it as a kid but I know some ps1 ports are clunky as hell.

My favs are 1 and 2, but yeah they are clunky though, as is the case with a lot of early 3D games. It just goes with the territory. Still a good time, would recommend. Especially the PC version.

I too miss how the moment you turn on the console, you can just hit start and be right in the game.

No "licensed by", no powered by such engine, every video codec/physics simulation/sound technology getting their own splash screen, character/appearance likeness estate ownership screen, health warnings, online interaction agreement, and disclaimer that the content is fictitious and made by a diverse company all being unskippable before getting to start a game. Just, BAM, get to the playing.

The majority of the gameboys library is watered down ports, and most of the rest is held back by the technical limtations of the system.

There are some good ass games on the GB, but they're few and far between.

Is the Game Gear the most underrated /vr/ system?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>4154675
All the Sega systems are underrated, and the Game Gear is even more underrated than the Master System.

Back then, the Game Gear was considered the fanciest portable console, while the Game Boy was for peasants (everybody had it, monochrome games, very small). Now, the peasants get their revenge by only talking about their console like the Game Gear didn't even exist.
>>
The only game gear exclusives that are worth playing are gamemasters legacy, mega man and Sylvan tale. Arena: maze is death is also OK

The sonic exclusives are not worth playing
>>
I got one before a Game Boy.
Batteries issues killed the purpose of a portable system, though I do admit it was cool to have a color handheld from Sega in the early 90s, I ended up not using it much outside because of that.
Game library could be better, it has good games, I was entertained by Sonic chaos and Deep Duck Trouble as a kid, but later on when I started exploring the catalogue more, I realized there weren't that many games I was interested on it that weren't Sega-developed.
Plus, the screen of my GG died, which sadly is a common issue. I haven't bothered to fix it, I emulate on PSP if I ever feel to play GG.
Overall, I don't think it's underrated, people still mention it, remember it as being cool for being in color, and having good Sega games, but most people will tell you to play on SMS because of better resolution (but worse sound? unless FM module on MarkIII, not sure).
Game Gear could get a lot more hate, I rarely see people hating on it, so I think it's correctly-rated, it's not horrible and was awesome for the time, but nowadays, there isn't much unless you're a Sega fan.

Possibly about to get a Saturn.
Anything I should now? Aren't they prone to laser problems these days?

Also what are some good games worth getting outside of the obvious? Particularly imports. every list or forum thread about imports always seems to be people suggesting the same 5 games.

>Aren't they prone to laser problems these days?
Saturns are pretty well built, there's always a chance you might get problems, especially if you're buying online and the system needs to get shipped by mail, the seller has to be very careful about the packaging, but compared to PlayStation 1, Saturns are a lot more durable in general.
You also want the Action Replay 4 in 1 cart for region-free, saving and extra RAM.
Mind you, in my experience the Action Replay carts aren't reliable when it comes to saves, I got my saves swiped off one day, but there's another useful thing you can do with an AR cart: install Pseudosaturn on it, which makes you able to play backups. You lose the ability to save or use the built-in cheat features, but you still get the extra RAM and by default the region free bypass.
For saving, my recommendation is to use the internal battery and buying an official Sega memory cart to store your saves safely. Most likely, if you buy a Saturn, its internal battery will be dead - no big issue, just buy a new one (like $1) and replace it, it can be done easily without opening the console. It lets you set the clock and date on your system, and save directly to it. You can then copy saves to the memory cart if you need space, also because one day, that battery will stop working too, but they can last a few years.
There's also the possibility of getting a modchip, but I'm not sure about the quality of modern Saturn modchips. If you can get a Saturn that's already chipped, that's also a good idea. But you'll still want the Action Replay cart for the extra RAM for the games that require it.

As for imports, it depends on what kind of games you're looking for.
I recommend Baku Baku Animal, I think even the US version is cheap. Pretty underrated Sega puzzle game, similar to Puyo Puyo/Tetris Attack, hella fun.
But you will enjoy the Saturn more if you don't really care much about getting original games, many of the best ones can be pricey.

>>4154495
Thanks, didn't know about the battery, but I have a bunch of them laying around so that wont be a problem.
I'm not planning on buying too many games anyway, as I live in a pal region so about 7 Saturn games were actually released here.

Megaman games are too easy/boring.
