Last time I'm going to be posting this without being specifically requested to. Don't want to become That Guy. Plus I'm working on some new stuff anyway...

It's done. The Vampire Monster Manual. 108 pages worth of generic NPCs for you to throw at the peons who show up to your games. I mean the player troupe. Whatever.

56 Clan vampires, 18 Bloodline vampires, 17 ghouls, 17 other supernaturals, 29 mortals, and 23 animals. A total of 160 NPCs, suitable for any chronicle taking place in the modern day.

Remember that these are meant to be generic things to throw at your troupe, NOT a replacement for hand-crafting a character for your chronicle yourself. The Prince and Primogen and so on of your main city should be made to your specifications. But when your chucklefuck players decide that, no, they don't want to stay in Boston, they really do need to go over to Worcester for God knows what reason. Or start a fight with the pizza delivery guy that they themselves called over to their lair. Or whatever.

I love this stuff. Non-humans doing a mediocre job of pretending to be human can be both hilarious and terrifying.

I'm working on a campaign all about this.

Is there anything I should avoid to do or be careful as a virgin DM ?
Like is there things I could describe or use in unrealistic ways ?

New information on Men of Iron was revealed in a new Audio Drama "Perpetual". Mankind in the Dark Age of Technology was far more powerful than we could have ever dreamed.

Play Savage Worlds instead. It's like if someone took a look at GURPS and tried to put it on the level of ease of 5e. It actually handles most Anime stuff really well. Super Powers Supplements, and the Ninja Supplement will be of particular interest to you.

Short of that, Barbarian and/or Monk Archetypes would work.

Basically I'm building a jungle world for Stars Without Number and I need to populate this jungle with badass animals and aliens that give the world its reputation for being bad.
So far i have:
>this animal that looks like a fallen treetrunk, but is actually here to fuck you up when you stand on it or near it, has tentacles and shit, teeth like a beartrap, took inspiration from the bloodoak
>This "Shrieking Megabat" (pic related) with a wingspan the size of a lorry. Roosts in trees and only really eats fruit, but dont get in its zone or its gonna fuck you. Its echolocation shriek sounds like a person screaming, hence the same
>Devourer worms are these fucked up parasite worms that eat you from the inside out if you get bitten by one, on their own theyre pretty shit but dont fall into a nest
Now i could just put in a giant bear or something, but i want some more inspired and unique stuff going on here y'know, any sources of inspiration i could draw upon or just straight up ideas i can take? Cheers

Try finding a book called "Fragment", by Warren Fahey. It's about zoologists that discover an island whose ecosystem has evolved independently from the rest of Earth's for the past four hundred million years. Lots of very dangerous, very nasty creatures. One of the big name ones is the "Henders Island rat", which if it lives long enough grows to become a "spiger", for spider-tiger. They're fucking terrifying.

Lets talk about Tieflings, /tg/.

I mean, once you look at D&D it gets super confusing based on which Edition or Splat-book you have in your hand. In one Tieflings are more akin to Changelings as in "Mostly human, but there is something creepily inhuman about them" then you have "Suave Devils" until you arrive them "Everyone knows they are demonspawn and no one trusts them and no one likes them but not enough enough to start a pogrom" which is just abstract levels of wat.

And the same goes for the looks of a Tiefling or their Stats, first you have "Yeah boi, they creepy, -2 Charisma also roll on the table to see how much of a fucking FREAK you are" then you go "But muh Hot Topic-Attire and muh devilblood makes me more charismatic, also Red Skin and Horns and Tails for everyone" and a lastly "You know what kid, take whatever stats you like and make them look whatever you want, now fuck off".

What I am trying to say is, do Tieflings as a race make even sense?

What is a Tiefling actually supposed to be like? If I think about it the first version makes the most sense to me and the other two just make them another trivial race. So one of your ancestors was unfortunate enough to get shagged by some sort of demonspawn. You are born human looking but as you grow there are STRANGE THINGS about you like you growing points teeth or tar-black eyes or having skin that is really hot to the touch.
I mean if are already born with Horns and Tail hat exactly keeps your terrified parents from throwing you into the next fireplace or drowning or shit which seems like the sane reaction to OH GOD BERTHA WERE YOU BEHIND THE SHED WITH THAT O´MALLEY BOY AGAIN I TOLD YOU GINGERS HAVE NO SOUL AND NOW LOOK AT YOUR BABY?!
And even if you assume that the society they live in is less xenophobic against them, wouldn't a Tiefling try to avoid the Stigma of being associated as Demonspawn and trying to pass off as a human? If there is a Church of people with twitchy SMITE-ing fingers and I am boy with a pair of horns wouldn't I saw them rather off and try to look more like John Doe the most boring and normal-looking Shepherd this side of the kingdom?

PS: Its nearly impossible to find a Pic of a Tiefling who tries to pass himself off as human. Or a creepy looking human with just enough OFF about him to make him look creepy?

They made sense in their original context, where they lived in a multi-dimensional city and were far from the weirdest things there.
They kind of also made sense in 4e, where they were an entire empire of devil worshipers that had deliberately altered themselves for teh evulz.

This on the other hand not really. A whole race of devil worshippers that look like devil-worshippers kinda completely defeats the reason for the existence of Tieflings, doesn't it?

You know, having just finished the book, this is a surprisingly not-at-all-bad-game. I expected the mother of all Onyx Path style SJW "but have you considered the genderqueers?" sidebox rants, but seriously, this is an okay game. It's not the best I've read, and it's not my personal taste, but it's not nearly as horrible as /tg/s made it out to be before. Hell, because it wears its thematic heart on its sleeve like that, even the standard SJW themes feel a lot less jarring and "in your face" than when they're jammed into other games, so rather than standing out mostly they just feel like organic parts of a fantasy world that's so much bigger you could literally forget they were there if you didn't insist on focusing on them.

Is it really possible that the word "feminist" on the cover caused such a kneejerk reaction it caused most people here to automatically dismiss this game?

Anyone with opinions?

It's not bad. It was before most of the SJW bullshit, so instead of most of that crap it's based around romantic fantasy and was aimed at "What if we made a D&D for women? What would we put into it?" and it actually wound up a pretty good setting.

the remake watered that down some and added more politics but it's still fine. Y'know, fine. Like any number of dozens of other RPGs that deserve about as much attention.

I'm looking to get into 40k I have a great full time job and going to buy a house where I can have a hobby/computer room. My question is I have quite a stock pile of Target gift cards 200ish dollars. What are some things I could get at Target that will help me use them up and get a good start in WH 40k. Obviously they don't sell any models at Target (wouldn't that be great) but I don't really have anything to start painting or gluing. Looking for some suggestions of things that you have been successful using that aren't bought at usual game shops.

Actually, I can think of something else. Super glue and tight rubber gloves. With the gloves you don;t have to worry about super glue or paint getting on your hands.
Get a big thing of disposable latex gloves.

A good light for said painting.
Something to put of said desk to prevent the paint from getting on it.
Exact-Knifes, blades, and small wire cutters for the models.
Something to organize you're shit. Like a tackle box or one of those little tool-boxes.
Something to sand off the mold lines maybe?
