Redpill me on Spelljammer.
More specifically, how does it jive, like, at all, with the established lore? I understand that it's supposed to arguably fit seamlessly, as Planescape does, but, like... no?
Wizards and Clerics capable of casting Plane Shift are, presumably, fairly rare in most settings, and even were they not, the limitations of that spell are pretty considerable from the perspective of a society rather than an adventuring party, and so the setting as a whole would probably be unchanged by planar travel of that sort. But, like, spaceships, man? How the fuck is Toril or Oerth or wherever-the-fuck not constantly buzzing with interstellar traffic and shit?
Like I love the concept and idea of Spelljammer, I just have no clue how to resolve this obvious logical issue.
Hopeful bump.
>>51415961
Because all the worlds are contained in their own spheres, some are harder or easier to get to, the spelljammers have limit atmosphere and have to "restock" somewhere with it's own atmosphere to refresh it, and most people with a spelljamming helm are pretty secretive about it to keep it from getting targeted or stolen.
>>51415961
First, Toril and Oerth were just two out of a few thousand or more known spheres. Second, spelljammers were kinda rare. Third, when WoTC took over, they dropped everything SJ related except for a few hints in the fluff.
Fourth, when SJ was active, those worlds were buzzing with interstellar traffic.
You know the drill.

What is the difference between a god of fire and a god of the sun?
>>51415073
The Sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma.
>>51415073
well, one's a god of fire and the other is a god of the sun
>>51415073
The sun is made of fireloosly
Not all fire is made out of sun.
A Sun God has no influence over, to give a few examples, volcanos, candles, rockets, stovetops, or the unfortunate result of trying to light a cigarette while wearing entirely too much styling gel.
So, how solid is this system, guys?
I want to run an X-Force game, or something similar, which is a bit grittier than your average Cape comic. Would this work?
No.
If you want gritty supers use something like Wildcards or whatever that ORE supers game is
>>51415198
I don't want it THAT gritty. You're talking about Godlike, and that's more like WW2 with low-level mutants than what I'm looking for.
>>51414973
it's fun and plays different than most games since you play a comic panel instead of an action. It's not really gritty tho.
Druids, Shamans etc. art thread. Keep them as mystical/primal/weird as possible. I'll dump what I have for now and I hope you guys will come back with feedback.
I'm not advocating for "art thread generals", but there are several up right now that you could have used. Please have a look at the catalog.
like the central idea of D&D 4th Edition: The powers, the tactical elements (shift, forcing movement) and the speed at the lower levels.
But there is many problems, and it's a mess to find the books and apply all the erratas. Essentials suck ass too.
So, any suggestions of games that look similar to play? Forget about 3.x and 13th Age, please.

It's not too bad once you get around how abysmally organized the rulebook is?seriously, the rulebook makes it seem a lot more complicated than it is.

You might enjoy Legend by Rule of Cool.
It is (very loosely) based on 3.5, rather than 4e, but they tore down and rebuilt the system with a focus on mechanically interesting and diverse combat.
Movies with plotlines resembling the actions of an RPG Party.
Pic related, the climax battle scene looked like something pulled straight from a tabletop party plan.
You could have just said "talk about your favorite action movies general".

The thirteenth warrior. You can literally port that movie wholesale as a campaign, and assuming your players haven't seen it (which none of mine had) they think its just an absolutely awesome idea you had.

Even more guns, if that was possible
Instead of slavs, Stalkers would be backwoods hillbillys.
There would be squatters living there. Not for the illegal trade, but because that there's their land and be damned if any kinda satanic mumbo jumbo or gubmit gonna drive em off.
Constant patrolling of the Airspace
CIA spooks everywhere
The Zone in and of itself would be covered up as some sort of ecological disaster to keep people away, trespassers would be shot on sight, bribery wouldn't be an option
Officially it would not exist
Guns and ammo dirt cheap, entire armories stashed everywhere.
Artifacts are worth less than a can of sparkling water because muh invisible hand.
Libertarians and doomsday preppers instead of Monolith.
Duty and Freedom are fighting over abortion rights.
"Zone hates fags. Thank Zone for emissions."
Campsites full of basketball americans blasting horrible music. If you call them bandits you are doomed to walk the Zone as a pariah and perish alone under the steely sky.

Girl wizards /tg/!
An' none o' that weeby sorcerer bullshit. I wanna see spellbooks, scrolls, incantations, and wands. Hermetic runes and familiars. Spectacles even.
They don't have to be human girls.
Close enough.
I'm planning to run a game set in a distant oceanic world which consists of 95% water and most land masses are archipelagos. A human colony fleet was sent there through a space gate that collapsed. A good number of colonists in the expedition were aquatic humans who were modified invitro to express dormant amphibious traits such as gills. Their intelligence was also enhanced. Their colony vessels crashes on the aquatic world and lost contact for a century. Many have gone native living simple lives in villages. Others live in the deep sea, building technologically advanced cities living in isolation. Game is set 10 years after regaining contact with the main Human government body the sent the expedition. Tensions form with the descendants of the colonists and the Human Government as they start to colonize the planet. This is a new Aquatic frontier. The world also shows evidence of Alien ruins and a semi sapient tribal species which seem artificialy uplifted.
A question though. Will genetically modified humans whi are adapted for deep sea environment look drastically different? Will they look slimmer? Will their skin be different?
A human adapted to living in the deep sea is bordering on what can even be considered human
They would look more alien than other terrestrial aliens would look to a human
Yes, but the other way around. They'll look fatter, and their bodies will be more streamline, like for example they won't have necks.
>>51408084
And yes, their skin will be thicker and they won't have hair.
