Pretty sure he uses an actual film camera

Oh man, so, the other day, I was doing a shoot in an abandoned church. We'd barely started when I heard the sound of car wheels on the gravel alley next to it. I peek my head out and there's a fucking police car there.
So, first thought, if they come in, we'll just try to be all "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize we weren't allowed in here what with the door being entirely gone." So I keep taking pictures and wait for The Man to come take us down.
But hey, it doesn't happen, so I think that maybe the cop was just using that as a shortcut and I peek out the window again--no luck, cop car is still there, parked at the end of the alley right by the entry to the building and between me and my car.
So next thought: Escape. Unfortunately, there's not an easy egress to the building other than the lack-of-door where we came in. We search a bit and find stairs that would potentially lead down and out the back, but they're in really rough shape and end about five steps from the ground. I decide to risk it and climb/jump down.
Fortunately, they are sturdy enough still to hold my weight.
Even more fortunately, there is indeed an exit to the back, since the lack of steps at the bottom meant there was no going back once we'd jumped down.
Less fortunately, the back is just choked with weeds and bushes and trees. We really would have benefited from a machete to get through there, but we managed to claw our way through with some difficulty.
Even less fortunately, there's a fucking neck-high wall around the back. I'm able to hoist my model over it easily (she weighed like a pound and a half), but my fat ass had a lot more difficulty with it. If you'd asked me in the abstract, I'd have said I couldn't ever get over that wall. In the moment, though, I was highly motivated to get out the back, so I managed to do it. Fuck yeah, go me.
We went around the block and got in my car and drove the hell out of that cop's jurisdiction. Pic related.

With the advent of 5-axis stabilization in conjunction with OIS, how exactly is APS-C supposed to compete with M43 anymore in low light?
The ability to stay at base ISO by stopping down nearly 4-5 stops completely offsets whatever advantage APS-C might have had.
The only competitor I see right now is the a6500, but that's way above most people's budget.
Has M43 finally caught up to APS-C?
>still no dof
>still worse noise performance
>still oversized lenses, considering the system
who fucking cares? just take pictures and stop letting other peoples cameras make you insecure
>>3127352
Its still just mirrorless. If you want something to compete with the autofocus speed of a rebel you need an a9. Everything else falls short unless you're a shill. There's no reason not to go m43 since they have the better image quality, lenses, and video vs apsc sonys. Just buy whatever you need and use it to take photos. There is no perfect camera.
>>3127355
You can get pretty good shallow dof depending on the lens. Also lenses like the panasonic 20mm f1.7 and the olympus 45mm f1.8 are tiny as fuck
Tell me what gear I need to do gravure photography.
a really big fatcoque
a subject and a camera.
maybe some lights.
A house with a metric-fuckton of natural light and a reflector, lights would probably help but depending on budget all-natural is probably a solid starting point.
A lens that hits 1.8 or 2.2 that's north of 70mm (Equiv) and while not entirely necessary an ND filter never hurts when you're just beaming light in at 1.8

It's just a bigger part of the culture. Russians in particular really enjoy photography. Go on any random profile of vk.com and the men will have nice amateur photos they've taken, and the women will have decent amateur modeling photos of themselves. The hipster filter culture hasn't taken over either, lots of really sharp images.

What messenger bag do you people recommend? I don't really care about how it looks since I'm only going to use it when I'm out shooting, I just want something that's somewhat durable and easy to access your gear when you're out shooting. I don't have a lot of gear, just the Sony A6000 with the 18-105 lens and I'm going to buy the 55-210 and Sigma 30mm later.
I bought the AmazonBasics messenger bag on a whim because I just need something temporarily but I doubt it's going to be very durable or water resistant down the line, what do you people recommend at like $125 or below?
The Think Tank TurnStyle is probably my favorite, but these days I use a normal backpack with a camera insert. Shoulder bags tend to get uncomfortable after a while, and having an insert gives you the flexibility to use the bag for other stuff, not just cameras.
>>3124310
NG2345 off Aliexpress.
That's the small bag. It deliberately does not have much extra space at all.
Messenger bags are gay and stupid. Get a fucking backpack you normie autist.

Because it's some pod people cuckoldry.

Imagine the picture you want to end up with, look at the scene and what you have, then make the changes you need in the scene to get the picture you want.
Your equipment is more than adequate. Many photographers have made brilliant work with far less.

How do I into digital photography exposure? Someone said expose for the highlights. What does that mean. Let's say I'm shooting a building set against sky. Point the camera at sky then focus lock and have the sky exposure nice and blue and everything else in shadow? Then reduce shadows in Lightroom? Can can I just lock exposure on a gr2 and not lock both focus and exposure.
It's easier to adjust your dark shit as opposed to your bright shit, so if clouds or waves or white stuff is blown the fuck out, fix it in camera even if it means making everything else really dark,
>>3127651
So basically like I posted? Just wasn't sure if I understood. Also white balance in camera. Leave it on auto or change it for every situation?
>>3127658
yeah you want the bright part to be properly exposed in camera. the dark part can be super dark.
then in post you can reduce shadows and the dark part will look normal.
if you do it the other way around the highlights will be fked beyond repair
I have monochrome modified camera (D5100) and a set of dichroic colour filters for it that were taken form an old LCD projector. I'd like to shoot some RGB images using those filters, but i want to keep the filters secured to the lens using a round filter frame. where to buy those?

I just used a spare UV filter I got with some lens - unscrewed the inner ring, popped out the uv glass, used it as a stencil to cut out different filters. used UV/old film filters are a dime a dozen.
>>3127516
in 82mm size they're quite a bit harder to find
>>3127517
fair enough but I'd imagine still easier than "empty frames" - speaking of which, why won't you just get a Cokin filter mount? Seems like the best solution for multiple sheet-sized filters.
Btw, how'd you get it modified to monochrome, as some service or DIY? You can see remains of the filter on the frame edges, made me curious how it was taken off.
I have a budget of about 300-500 dollars (Canadian) and I was looking for a good beginning camera to shoot landscape and scenic photos. Any suggestions?
