FOV, like angle, composition, framing, colour, brightness, etc. is just another way to achieve seperation.
Just a minor ammount of blur is required to set a sharp subject apart from background.
If you can't achieve decent separation without bokeh, you are a bad photographer and have no business owning expensive bokeh-whoring equipment.
