What if Gandalf found one of these instead of Glamdring?
>>33545877
He would have run out of ammunition.
>>33545877
He would probably use it assuming ammunition was readily available.

Inuril, Flame of the East. It turns from blued to parkerized when orcs are nearby.
/k why isn't aluminium used more in firearm design? I know milled aluminium is being used more and more for parts like lowers and sometimes uppers which don't directly bear a pressure load when a round is fired.
Would a cast aluminium .22 pistol be able to handle the pressure if it had a steel barrel liner? I want to cast a single shot break action .22 but obviously I don't want it to blow up.
The barrel on my ruger is girthier than a .22 round on both sides on the chamber, but I've seen people pop a .22 from a break line without it splitting so what's the deal? I'm thinking a 2mm or 3mm thick steel barrel liner with maybe 5mm of aluminium cast around it for its length.
Pic related but not the subject of my question.
>>33545843
the deal with breakline is the chamber isnt exact. the casing is what takes most of the force as it expands when fired and gets wrecked
>>33545904
That's what I figured. As long as I use a thin steel liner which fits the casing snug, I think it will be OK?
>>33545843
I think you're underestimating how much aluminum is used in modern firearms.
As I'm sure you all know, bud's gun shop is advertising rock bottom prices right now for the S&W Shield and Bodyguard (about $250 for either one).
based on ballistics tests and youtube reviews, it seems that .380 is just as capable as 9mm in 15 yards or less terrirtory
Although the gut instinct is to get the larger caliber (same price); I tend to wear fitted clothes (slacks, dress shirts, suit jackets on an average weekday and chinos and a polo on the weekends, etc.).
I'm on the manlet side, so I kind of think .380 is a good choice, but the shield has an unparalleled position as the king of the single stacks right now...
What's /k/'s take on these two caliber offerings from S&W?
>>33545822
.380 has come a long way. There's ammo out there that performs well. There's just more 9mm.
>>33545822
Here's good advice; don't bother dicking around with handgun caliber ballistics, all handgun calibers are already terrible at killing people. Use the caliber that you can shoot the most effectively, the most accurately, that fits in a gun that's the most comfortable for you to shoot and carry, and whose ammo is an economic choice for you. Spread the word.
>>33545822
A .380 will kill a man just fine. Anyone who disagrees I invite them to let me shoot them with one.
It's what I cc. Mine is much more expensive, but ballistically the same.
That's a Winchester 1895 you dip. The west was won by the time it was designed. Sage.

That's cool. I'm a vet and work insurance now. But a decade ago I worked at crappy ass McDonald's, like most teenager jobs.
The guy I worked with, who also sold me weed, saw a cop ordered. There was a spider crawling around. He crushed it with a spatula and put it in his burger. I watched the poor bastard eat it. So yeah, enjoy. That was actually a cop tho, nobody respects you or gave you shit. You don't even deserve a free spider burger.

>SAGE
what does that mean. isn't sage a plant
Best SBR caliber for general purpose rifle... My vote goes for 300 BLK just because of its versatility.
What's SBR?

Wow, a really shitty and expensive version of .30 combloc, stop posting kid.
>>33545323
the fad rifles with barrels shorter than effective, so you get shit accuracy, shit speeds, and shit performance.
Did this guy really build a No Country for Old Men style murder weapon and use it?

What's your most hilarious firing range story?
I'll share mine:
>be at firing range
>buddy of mine brings his nugget for shits and giggles
>hands me a bag of surplus ammo
>load it up
>fire
>I mean I literally set the target on fire
>ammo was incendiary
>mfw my buddy was the firing range supervisor
>mfw ex-military guys were there and saw
Just an observation from here in Northern California:
Why is it always the Asian dudes who'll bring some hugeass cannon tricked out with tacticool gear that fires some or another round that sounds like a fucking bomb going off? I mean, I know that guns make noise, but every fucking time there's someone in a lane making earsplitting BOOM!!! after BOOM!!!, you can be sure that it's an Asian guy with some shit that looks like it came straight out of a videogame and has rails all over it. I mean, what's up with that?

If you had the money to do a impression of a soldier from any country or time period, what would you do? Think in terms of reenactment/Larping purposes.

Literally and unironically the most overrated SMG of WWII.
Can someone post a spandau?
As an owner of my own handgun with a carry permit, I need to obtain something that is on the non-lethal side, since I cannot always rely on my handgun whenever some person tries to go after me while on the road.
I was either thinking of getting a hand held stun gun, or a stun baton, but haven't really found anything that has solid reviews and doesn't look like it would be a paperweight after a few uses.
Any recommendations?

CC a car battery and some jumper cables.

You can defend yourself with pretty much anything OP
Pepper spray
Ball-peen hammer
Window smasher
Tire iron
Torn off gear shift or brake pedal
leg of deer
poison
double ended glass dildo
wood axe
rebar
And that's just looking at what's sitting around in my room

What do warrant officers do /k/? I like obscure things tell me about warrant officers. I told an army recruiter once that i would like to become a warrant officer and he asked me why and said because it sounds cool and i liked the obscure aspect of it and he laughed but more in a "laugh AT you" kinda way.
