I've heard that they only allow for two or three training shots a day due to safety concerns.
Where I come from we only got like six shots in total during my conscription due to budget concerns.

On the original models the latch would come loose, the rubberband held pressure on the latch keeping the stock on

Early (pre-LMT) crane stocks had issues with the latches coming loose, so the operator types (only ones that had them at that point anyway) would put bands around them to stop the wobble.
