Redpill me on 5.45x39 AR.
Utterly pointless
>>33536987
pointless and worthless since 14 cent 7n6 is gone , and 5.45 sucks ass.
>>33536987
When 7n6 was under $0.10/round it was attractive. Not anymore though since you can just buy steel case 223 for the same price as commercial 5.45 and not have to use specialty parts.
Relief is on the horizon son. Tumor Necrosis Factor Inhibitors show major major promise in the treatment of blast induced tinnitus.
With the right doctors, and/or faking rheumatoid arthritis, you might be able to score some medication that actually attenuates perceived constant tone.

I was a research assistant in a hearing loss/tinnitus lab at Wayne State University (Detroit) Lots of DoD funding and lots of worthless implant studies. Sure, I can stimulate the Brain stem (Dorsal Cochlear Nucleus) and reduce perceived tone, but who the fuck wants an electrostim in their brain stem?
I left the lab because I am 100% sure they were manipulating experimental data to support their hypothetical treatment mode. Chinese are absolutely the most dishonest, plagiarizing, unethical researchers in all of medicine.
BUT, as I had tried to bring up years ago as a lowly lab assistant, The TNF receptor protein expression is off the fucking charts in blast induced hearing loss/tinnitus.
Now my former lab, and several other labs have completely dropped the study these functional domains of the brain in favor of genetic analysis.
Using simple rtPCR and Western Blot, they can see that TNF is unregulated and stimulated and that ligand therapy and gene knock out can stop progression of this terrible disease. The Receptor blockers are going to be in clinical trial before you know it, and I am certain that it is the way forward in tinnitus treatment.
Alternately, you can push the disease progression to the "burn-out" stage by repeated insult to the same frequency range. Its a severe option, but many people are driven actually insane, or kill themselves due to the condition. (it's not a matter of mental "toughness" to endure, it's electrophysiologically more intense in those who ideate suicide, I can basically quantify if you are going to blow your head off with a MEG scan)

What about congenital tinnitus?
>>33536920

Along with the dozen or so severe side effects, you also get to regain your normal life back.
If you suffer Tinnitus AND RA, all the better.
>>33536933
>What about congenital tinnitus?
There has been nearly ZERO opportunity to explore congenital hearing loss, and even less so for tinnitus.
I am not going to say that the TNF inhibitors will not work, but I have reservations.
You might know that the bottom up vs top down causes are extremely complicated, and might very well originate in the most primitive cerebral structures, like the Amygdala. or might go bottom up, from the brain stem.
Either way, I think it's worth a try. Although you are exposing yourself to the nasty side effects of very strong, very new medicines, the alternative is a life of suffering and sometimes suicide.
As a person suffering from incurable nerve pain (mine is known as "suicide disease" "tic dolores" "trigeminal neuralgia") I understand the desperation, and am trying to spread this information far and wide.
If someone finds a way to fix MY chronic pain, I hope they have their say in every possible forum.
good luck to you, and I hope you weigh the consequences seriously before making any decisions. Can you tell me the frequency range you experience? The duration? (if not constant?)
How often do soldiers actually use their sidearms in combat?
>>33536785
In combat, almost never. Even in close quarters a carbine is better. Most grunts just use them to shoot open MREs and execute prisoners.
>>33536785
Literally never. Honestly I wish I had its weight in cigarettes instead of being issued one.
>>33536785
They're literally only last resort weapons.
They'll get used if:
1. You're in a situation where there are enemies withing spitting distance and your main weapon just went down
2. You're incapacitated in such a way that you can't use your main weapon
3. You only have pistol ammo left and everyone else is low
Now imagine those unlikely scenarios and keep in mind that maybe...5? or so people in a platoon get issued a sidearm.
It's unlikely.
How does it make you feel that the rest of 4chan is anti gun?

There is a youtube video of some footage from Grozny with really feelsy music and a radio exchange in Russian.
Does anyone remember it or know the link? It was in Russian so I don't know what to search for.
Also, post pics from the wars and discuss weapons and vehicles and tactics of the war.

I'm a former 0311.
Don't you want to live your life and find out it's depressing by all itself?
It's not like the Army guys have it any better.
>>33536588
Was a medic in the Army for 4 years. About 2 of them were as an infantry platoon medic, and another was as a recon platoon medic. The rest of the time was spent in basic/AIT and working in a clinic.
Don't do it. It's not worth it.
Hello, I've been a lurker on and off for a while and I'm a newfag to this board. I am wondering if you guys could help a typical newfag when it comes to firearms in general.
I'm a high school senior who's about to graduate and only last year did I get my hands on the two guns I now own. They were gifts from my Uncle and his side of the family; an A300 Outlander and a Ruger 10/22 rifle. I've only recently been able to use the shotgun because I joined my school's trap shooting team (the reason I got the shotgun in the first place) and last night was the first time I had ever cleaned a gun (being my Outlander).
I've been interested in firearms for a good chunk of my life but rarely have had the chance to actually use them. I'm still very inexperienced when it comes to firearms and I'm looking for various activities I could do to improve upon that, which is why I am coming to you guys. Also, I would like to know /k/ approved guns for newfags/poorfags.
On another note can someone explain the whole Rhodesian thing to me. I've watched a few documentaries and have found the Bush War interesting, but what does it mean to /k/?
>>33536193
Lurk a lot, ask questions, ignore trolls and ragers. Here's the official /k/ poorfag arms list, though it needs a revision because it's a few years old and a few things have changed (like the price of milsurps going up). We mourn Rhodesia because it was the first great post-colonial white genocide, and because the Rhodesians were very aesthetic. Welcome, and keep on shooting.
>>33536193
but ammo. practice.
practice moar.
then practice again.
see if you can find an appeared event to learn rifle marksmanship. they encourage the use of the .22 in their classes for true newbs.
after a while, start figuring out what you want in a centerfire rifle.
take your time and try not to blow money on stupid shit because it looks cool or whatever. it takes years to build up a good collection and it would be an insult to own guns you don't know how to use.

Jesus fuck I hate my phone. any way....

I used to think I was pretty okay with a pistol, but I think now I'm kind of shit. What are some good resources for learning pistol shooting? I want to master the basics.
This pic is from today. 9mm reloads out of a Beretta M9A3. On the left is from "bench rest" and on the right is off-hand. That was probably my best off-hand of the day. The top shot was actually a bad flyer from another grouping, there are 10 holes below it.
Do my sights need pulled to the right if my bench rest shooting was consistently left? What are other reasons to push all my shots left?
Are there any good shooting drills I should be doing?
Also distance was about 10-12 yards.

http://pistol-training.com/drills
Judging from your groups, you are not proficient enough to properly judge whether or not your sights are off. Chances are, it's you and not the gun.
>>33535883
seconding this. Pistol-Forum/Pistol-Training and Primary & Secondary are probably the two best resources for learning how to properly shoot. 12 yards isn't a long enough distance to measure zero anyhow.
Since you did mention an M9A3, here's a couple of videos I think everyone who shoots TDA should watch.

Yeah, my groupings today were pretty weak. I shot a pretty tight group with a 1911 .45 yesterday, didn't take pics, but am working on getting better with Beretta M9. My grouping with a Ruger GP100 was fucking abysmal.
This pic is from a few months ago, shooting a PX4, I still push to the left.
Will review all the links provided. Thanks.
So i have had trouble finding projectiles for my 1882 swiss ordnance revolver. I have reloading dies and i can make the brass out of 32-20 wcf cases. Do any of you guys know where i could find a bullet mould for it? Preferably at 8.02 diameter. Thank you so much and have a BANG up day.
>>33535558
damn those 1882 are some sexy revolvers
>>33535569
I know right. Its why i want to shoot it so damn bad. Ive been trying to find original rounds so i can make a mould myself but to no avail.
bumping with revolvers
So I bought new wood grips for my S&W N-frame.
I open up the box and I see this shit in the checkering.
What is this? Dried varnish? It looks like dried mud and smells like charcoal. Did the seller fuck up? Can I get rid of this with acetone or something? I'm a bit pissed.
>>33535521
What they're suppose to look like for reference.

Yeah so who has the patches modeled on pic related. I've used the pastebin. I've scrolled through ever link to no avail.
Any patches for adults,I don't like those anime patches, I'm not a Robot
I want an Iron Front patch. Has anyone seen one for sale anywhere on the internet?
Alright, /K, I've been in love with this photo for over a year now, But I'm still unsure on the weapon the man closest to the Camera is, I thought it might be an Owen, or one of the later Stens, but I'm not Certain.
FAMAS
Carl Gustav m/45 I think.
Spandau
Underwater weaponry, anyonehaz bangstick?
the reason i ask is i recently got a jar full of fish fighting equipment, including a .410 powerhead barrel. i was wondering if anyone could tell me how complicated a receiver for it would be.
/k/ why are so many NATO members retiring Bullpups in favor of AR-15 platform weapons?

Standardization?
If France uses a FAMAS, Austria uses an AUG, Bongs use an L85, Longnoses use Tavor it's a logistical nightmare.
Everyone uses AR, keeps manufacturing cost down and makes joint operations easier as well.

everyone has same rifle mean less rifles is made
less rifles is made mean exchange and manufacture easier
exchange and manufacture easier mean more rifle
more rifle mean more dead commie in coming war with yellow commies
