get the S8 OP, it's a bliss and bluetooth 5.0 in the snapdragon 835 is simply fantastic if you rely on lots of bluetooth connections

I doubt he brute-forced it, there might be an exploit for your router. In such case he will do it again and it won't take long. Have you updated the router's firmware?

router is a SmartRg 505n, do you know of any exploits for it. i have an old WRT54g that i am going to flash and i will probably put the 505n into bridge mode.

I came to the same conclusion when checking out the configurations lately.

That's not to say Apple makes better devices, but when it comes to brand new laptops, ThinkPads aren't an obvious choice to me.

you can find used 'like new' top of the line thinkpads for a third of the price of new ones. used macbooks cost almost as much as new ones even if they're several years old

if your machine supports libreboot (big if) then the only downside to using it over coreboot is that it might be an older version and might require some manual work arounds

otherwise libreboot is literally just coreboot deblobbed with some independent fixes but mostly focuses on making the install process painless
