can I drink distilled water for a week or what?

I'm trying to find answers and both camps of whether it's good or not all sound like raving bro science retards.

I'm cutting weight, I need to eliminate as much sodium and excess water from my body as I can. Should I drink distilled water or what?

If there is a local spring go there and collect your own water.

If you really want the results you crave go vegan or eat strictly organic and do 30 minutes of moderate cardio like running twice per week.

Your body fat is going to stick around if you are consuming animal products, especially without cardio.

Yes, yes you can drink distilled.

So what's better to grill anyway?

Charcoal or propane.

>taste the meat, not the heat

I don't find this true at all. Propane always yields this gasoline-like and sooty taste.

Wood is best. After that, real wood charcoal. After that, propane. And last would be the prefab charcoal briquettes.

>>

I see tomato, onion, what appears to be shrooms, meatballs that have some caramelization on them, and some spaghetti.

8/10 would eat.

Garnish with some fresh basil or parsley next time, and don't over sauce the pasta. Otherwise, well done.

/fit/ here. Does /ck/ have any good ketogenic recipes?

Roast chicken is nice. I like to braise chicken thighs also. What are you looking for? More clever tricks that replace carbs in dishes like the cheese taco shells? Half of the recipes in traditional cookbooks are low-carb.

Does /ck/ ever try eating/cooking bugs? What did it taste like?
22 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Those fried mealworms/crickets don't have a lot of flavor on their own. Usually they'll be heavily seasoned with BBQ or other flavors the way potato chips are, so that's what they taste like. The thing that really turns me off from eating bugs is the texture. All that exoskeleton is gritty and stays in your mouth even after you drink something.

Haven't cooked them, but have eaten those big worms and tarantulas.

All of them shake alright fried, but somehow they also smake slightly acidic. Gotta say I was drunk of my ass in Bangkok but felt kinda nauseated after those.
>>
I eat spiders some times. They don't really taste like anything, but their leg texture is nice i guess.

So I just tried to poach eggs. First time turned out alright, except it didn't have that thin layer of egg white on top like pic related. It just looked like a regular sunny side up egg. I thought I had to flip it or some shit like that. I tried to do it again but when I tried to flip the egg out of the water it just popped all of the yellow egg yolk and it basically ended up being eggy water and I had to throw it in the trash.
So, what did I do wrong?
12 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>9165750
Swirl the water a lil bit before putting the egg, so that the egg white covers the yolk.
>>
>>9165750
it sounds like you have old eggs. the whites will spread out way more when eggs aren't fresh

>>9165755
I use fresh eggs and while I do swirl the water around, the white still completely surrounds the yolk even if I just slip them in without swirling
>>
>>9165764
Also a lil bit of vinager makes the egg taste better.

Pic related. It's called The City Taqueria. Great little Mexican place with amazing tacos. You literally go into their kitchen to order and watch them make it right in front of you. I go here for lunch like twice a week.

Another one, pic related. This one is in Oakland (forgot to mention that the other restaurant is in SF). It's called Xolo, and it's a similar feel. Really creative dishes.

I've never used olive oil to cook with before. But now I've heard that it's healthy so I want to give it a try. But I've also heard I shouldn't cook with extra virgin olive oil - it's only meant to be used as salad dressing. So is it okay to cook meat in regular olive oil?

>So is it okay to cook meat in regular olive oil?

Yes. Normal olive oil is also called "light" or "refined". It has a high smoke point so it's perfectly suited for cooking with. Meat, veggies, fish, poultry, anything....
>>
>>9165094
You can cook with extra virgin, just mix it half and half with vegetable or canola oil and itll take the heat just fine
>>
>>9165094
i only cook with extra virgin and it works just fine

Are there any foods you have eaten while growing up that no one else seems to eat?

My mom told me to mix applesauce, milk, and sugar (good afternoon btw) as a kid and from a Google search it seems no one else eats it

My grandfather was a child during the great depression, and evidently the local place they hung out ran out of ice cream to make ice cream floats which were all the rage back then. So they would mix whole milk with root beer at a 1:2 ratio. It was called a Silver Cow and it's delicious. I still make them to this day.
>>
>>9164603
I might try it. Do you freeze the milk?
>>
>>9164592
I never mixed it together like that, but my mom often gave me a glass of milk and homemade applesauce when I was a kid. I thought they tasted good together. I'm not sure why you'd need the sugar though--applesauce already contains it.

>>9164603
I tried mixing milk and coke once, it was pretty bad. But I never tried it with root beer.
