I've never used olive oil to cook with before. But now I've heard that it's healthy so I want to give it a try. But I've also heard I shouldn't cook with extra virgin olive oil - it's only meant to be used as salad dressing. So is it okay to cook meat in regular olive oil?

Yes. Normal olive oil is also called "light" or "refined". It has a high smoke point so it's perfectly suited for cooking with. Meat, veggies, fish, poultry, anything....

Olive oil is delicious. There are several different types of olive oil and they're all used for different purposes. I suggest starting off with getting a small bottle of extra virgin for drizzling and finishing flavors, and a light olive oil for frying and everything else. Taste them when you get them. You'll see why I recommend the two.
I don't think I didn't not hear that it wasn't healthy.
