I'm looking for a job, currently found couple I'm interested in and I sent the applicatios. I know how much some of my friends make who are in the same situation (student, no experience) and in the same industry (IT) so I know plus or minus what kind of starting salary to expect.
Now how should I go about this subject in an interview? Do I ask them how much they're going to offer or should I let them bring it up? Should I ask for more(how much more?) and then eventually bargain down or will it be considered offensive if I ask for more? There's one job I really want so I'm willing to work even for less just to get it, is it smart to mention that or how should I go about it?

Do some research on what similar positions get paid starting. Also go in with that you can bring to the table and why your skills are worth paying for. If you don't bring anything to them they won't pay you for it
Some companies have fixed salaries for entry-level jobs. If that's the case they'll just tell you. If they say something "The salary for this position is x" and you're satisfied with it just accept it.
If they have no set wage they will most likely ask you how much you want. You should figure out what the average wage for people with your experience in the position you're applying for is. Then ask for something slightly above the average. If they say they can't give you that much ask how much they can give you. They usually don't give you a lower offer than what they'd really pay, they're not negotiators so if you're fine with what they offer you you should take it.
If, during the whole interview they make no mention of salary (very unlikely) ask them whether the salary is decided based on experience or something like that, just to let them know they forgot to ask you about the fucking salary.

Recent job searcher here in software development.
If they don't tell you outright over the phone or in the interview (unlikely) then at the end you can ask what a typical range is for the position. Then if they make an offer you will have an idea of where you sit. Research about the company on glassdoor, or just in general for IT should give you an idea of what to expect.
Beyond that Protip interview advice would to actually have good questions to ask them at the end of the interview instead of just about pay/benefits etc.
I'm thinking that when I leave my bedroom, my mom will try to kill me, or she'll entice me to kill her. My dad doesn't control the behavior here at all, because he has no balls
I need to go to the bathroom, but I'm paranoid about warfare. But this is how things go, it's how they've been going for years... I just woke up half an hour ago if that clarifies anything
I never would have wanted to think this, but, I think the main reason I can't get out of bed most morning is because I can't interact with my parents. Why would I go in the trail preservation event with my dad? Because at least we're surrounded by other people. I've been really putting up with nasty treatment for too long, I was just fantasizing my killing my mother
She's told me to hit her before, when she threw the only working phone in the shower I was in. I can't take any of this any more than I already have, the fantasizing is sickening. I just want to leave my room but I won't because she's definitely going to be rude, what do I do?

i think i fucked up...i was cuddling in a co worker's arms all last night. we are friends but not close. i vaguely recall making out with him last night, and him telling me he didnt want to do anything with me while i wasnt sober. i was very high and very drunk so i dont know what happened beyond that.
my friends intercepted in the middle saying i have a boyfriend and the last thing i heard him ask me was if that was true. i just passed out and woke up this morning without much recollection of what went on. i had a feeling i did something wrong so i told my boyfriend.
im more worried about the guy i cuddled with. did i accidentally play him? we're going to be working together a lot this year. my friends said *i* wasnt doing anything too out of the norm cos im normally very touchy anyway, but were worried he might have interpreted it wrong. he also is going through a lot of things rn and tried to kill himself recently
wtf do i do? friends told me act like it didnt happen and said i shouldnt have even told my bf
>>18122199
Here is my advice.
>>18122215
LOL why
It's not nice to your bf to go and get helplessly high + helplessly drunk with other men. You know that might lead to shit.
Even if you got "raped" you still have a responsibility for your own actions just like a drunk driver has responsibility for crashing his car into a tree.
If your bf is nice, he might forgive you this time and stick around, but don't count on it.
I provably wouldn't want to hang out with a girl who goes to "cuddle parties" and get drunk and high with random guys.
i like fat boys that only tals about memes and plays mario kart. Am i stupid?
Yes. Get some fucking standards
Get off the the internet OP. Fatties that only talk about memes and Mario kart arent that amazing as you think they are
You can have my ex then...
In all seriousness, we all have our personal preferences and it's just a matter of whatever floats your boat, so unless you're into illegal and dodgy shit then you're golden.
What do students mean when they're taking a gap year to go travelling?
How could one afford to travel for a year?
>>18122183
>How could one afford to travel for a year?
trust fund kiddies don't worry about money
otherwise they're funneling the $10-20K that would've gone to their schooling towards travel
>>18122183
Think it's mostly rich kids, maybe some work while traveling. I think there's programs for that

What is the best way to avoid police when driving? Also when is the best time to drive when you want to avoid them?
Asking for a friend btw
>best time to avoid cops
Rush hour---so many cars you can easily blend in.
Late at night there aren't as many cars out so a cop can spot you easier.
>>18122160
>Late at night there aren't as many cars out so a cop can spot you easier.
Less cops out patrolling though
Op best way to avoid cops is to always drive the speed limit and obey traffic laws.
>>18122325
This is incorrect.
The BEST way to avoid cops is to recognize their cars before you get close to them, or before they get close to you.
When you're on the road, you should always be passing people... always. You never want whoever is behind you to catch up with you at a light. It sounds stupid but you do this because if you are constantly passing people you have the opportunity to screen for cops. If you realize you might be passing a cop, you ease off throttle and eventually get behind him.
You can tell who is ahead of you... but you never have any idea who the people are behind you unless you passed them already. You don't want these "mystery" cars pulling up behind you. It could always be a cop.
I went to a party last night and accidentally smoked a bit off of a small blunt.
I have a 10% chance of having a drug test next Friday.
How fucked am I?
>>18122137
You are dumb, and probably fucked.
Hope it wasn't a dream job you were applying for
Just one hit?
>10% chance
You should be okay...I hope
Depends on the test.
Hair test? You're screwed.
Piss test? You're fine.
Years ago on Mondays, my friend and i would smoke two blunts on a trip to and from Kenosha for gaming. I would only smoke on those Mondays. Then one week I got called for a job, had a drug test the following Friday. I smoked only one blunt on that Monday, drank water all Tuesday and passed the test just fine.
hey, I have been thinking a lot about breaking up with my ltg of nearly 7 years. I used to work at sea and she was at home and faithful the whole time, but now that I'm back I feel that we don't really have anything in common and our time together is so boring. we don't really do anything because we don't like the same stuff, and the sexual attraction has pretty much died away. also we don't live together and her attitude to this is proabbly a big factor in how I feel. she is a good looking girl slim girl with a thick ass but I feel like I constantly find myself looking at other girls all the time (who probably wouldn't be interested in me). I know it's totally a personal thing but just looking for anyone else who's been in similar situations to share some advice if poss
>>18122132
>I used to work at sea and she was at home and faithful the whole time
What makes you so sure?
>>18122171
no doubt whatsoever
>>18122132
Can't say I have any experience here; but have you thought about just talking to her about it? I'm certain she knows already something's not going right..
There are three questions you should be always asking yourself,
What if?
Why not?
and
Do I like it?
I'll try it
>>18122124
>wake up
>what if going to work is just waste of time?
>why not just keep laying in my bed until the life will make sence again?
>do i even like my work? My life? My bed?
By your adv i would get instant life crysis the next morning.
Okay so I've been dating my girl for 3 months.
first 2 months everything was going amazing. we would be able to talk forever, never run out of anything to say, always smiling and laughing etc. now it feels like every time we see each other we are barley talking and have nothing to say.
Sucks because I really really like her but im not the most social person in the world either.
Any advice on what to do? For those of you in long relationships how do you always have something to talk about?
>>18122119
games or just go to some park or social place and talk about life stuff
>>18122119
If it happened this soon, maybe you aren't that good of a match. What do you have in common? Any shared interests, opinions, sense of humour? If you have nothing in common, then the 3 months were probably hormone fuelled haze and now that reality is setting in, you're starting to see each other more clearly. Try to work on it. Find common ground, do things together. If it doesn't seem to work out, accept it. Relationships that last are ultimately based on friendship and companionship. If you can't provide that for each other, there's no future for the two of you together.
>>18122159
honestly we talked online alot before meeting. she doesnt really have any hobbies at all. stays at home all day basically. Hot as fuck though and does have a good personality
What are some things we could do together? First 2 months she always came to the gym with me and that was our "thing" to do but now she basically never wants to go again
Dated one of the girls in the friends group. Broke up. My buddies wife who's in this group also has a party next month. Ex hasn't responded to the invite so I think it's because I'll be there.
Should I just ask her to come and no hard feelings?
>>18122117
Just focus on you. Life is hard enough to consistently worry about other shit that doesn't really affect you. Focus on getting your shit in order and having a good time. If she doesn't want to come thats her problem.
>>18122117
better if she doesn't go bro, no awkwardness to worry about. say nothing
>>18122126
>>18122140
How does one act around ex's within the same group? We're friendly but I knows there's awkwardness, from her at least.
I can be like that part of our lives never happened but I know she'll just be cold and weird especially if she starts bringing a new guy around
Well, i am done with her. After we had contact for a few months via text and a few walks. Said shit like "It's rare to find someone like you." or "I thought i'd never see you again." So i asked her out because i wanted to take it to the next level.. First she said yes only to flake one day before the date.
"Let's do it another time ok? Don't be mad?"
Yeah fuck you bitch. Today she texted me: "Hey how are you? Wishing you a nice sunday."
I replied, but i shouldn't have. Felt self-depricating. So, i just blocked her on whatsapp and deleted her number. Can't deal with these mind games of her.
Was it the right decision? Because i sure as hell don't want to be in a friendzone.
>>18122099
yes, you are obviously too insecure for a relationship
>>18122099
You didn't want to take it to the next level, you wanted to skip about 2 levels and take it all the way up .. You shouldn't have to talkto or hear from them every single day
>You didn't want to take it to the next level, you wanted to skip about 2 levels and take it all the way up
How is asking someone out to the cinema skipping 2 levels? I don't get your post. She was the one heavily texting me daily.
I have a habit of talking in rhymes all the time. I don't do it intentionally. But when I catch myself doing it I get embarrassed. I am at the point where I choose my words carefully when sending a text. For example I'll be typing
"Anyway I think I'll be okay today babe"
And I'll change it to
"I will be alright during these next few hours"
Is there something in my brain that causes me to do this?
>>18122077
The first one sounds normal, the second one sounds kinda robotic. I think rhyming is just a normal speech pattern, I probably wouldn't even notice the rhymes in that sentence if you didn't point it out
>>18122096
I am often told I sound robotic in general even when I'm not trying to rhyme. Why does it sound robotic?
I don't think anyone notices the rhymes
My first step to getting my dream job is to get a degree in mathematics. however i suck ass at math. are there any on-line resources that can help me get into math and not get anally destroyed in college.
>>18122066
khan academy
how do people not know about this yet?
>>18122071
This.
Also, note that mastering math takes a lot of practice. I always thought I was terrible at math because I'd listen in class but still make frequent mistakes on tests/quizzes. Turns out most college math majors devote daily time to working practice equations like a musician would spend time practicing scales.
