We were ok post breakup after I pretty much dropped from existence due to work and night school.

Me being her close friend and then breaking up probably didn't help her anxiety or mental health much.

I think they're saying that it depends on the foreign language you learn and the business/area you work in.
Is the field you're going to work in going to entail you having to speak Russian to clients or what have you? Learning Russian is probably a good idea.
Is just having a random foreign language that holds zero relevance to your job going to help you land a job? No.
If you live in America knowing Spanish is a huge boon to pretty much any job you work because a good portion of every field's clientele are going to be Hispanic ESL.

i work in security and i always get backhanded comments from people whenever i'm around.
What's a good way for dealing with these types of people without losing my job? Sometimes a one off "fuck off dipshit" or "kys" would be great but it'll definitely get me fired.

So, I've been thinking of making a career change and I'm not really sure which direction to go in. I don't have anybody I can really talk to about this either.
Currently I work as a diesel engine and power generator diagnostic a day repair technician. It's an OKAY job. But takes a real toll on the body.
Lately I've been thinking of going back to school for either electrical engineering or something to do with computers. More likely programming.
I'm not really too sure which one I want to do and whether or not it'd be worth it at this point. I've been doing this line of work for about 11yrs now.

Yeah, yeah, it is used but I wouldn't tap that. Save more money and invest at least twice as much because laptops are a different beast than PCs.

(Nearly 6 foot and barely skinny fat at worst)

I know it's smart to major in math/engineering/cs but I really want to study art and literature and language and poetry and philosophy. I want to think about what it means to be human and why things are beautiful and what is meaningful.
Sitting here studying for Math, Chemistry and Physics, ready to go into STEM and have a good career with a well paying job but I don't know. I think it's not really what I want.
What do I do?

A few weeks ago I went out for a birthday of a friend of mine and got drunk at the restaurant where I wanted to use the bathroom, which I had used before already.
There was this guy already lightly knocking on the door, and no one replied, so I went over and knocked harder, like really fucking hard.
The whole place stopped for a moment and this bartender comes walking towards me with an intimidating pose and asking what's the problem.
Annoyed by this, I too walk towards him and ask him loudly what's his deal, and "Where the fuck am I supposed to piss!?" in a way that my friends told me was suggestive of violence, mind that the guy I'm walking towards is huge whilst I'm just a regular guy.
I never intended to hit him (even though that's how it came across), and didn't think he would hit me either, so I was basically calling him on his bluff.
Then one other bartender came to me, and apologized that I couldn't use the bathroom and explained that someone had clogged it up with plastic cups, so they had closed it for the night. I told him that I understood, and that it was alright, but I don't think I apologized.
The thing is, I'm usually kind when drunk, not violent, every time I've gotten drunk in the past (dozens of times, over several years) I've become as docile and friendly as anyone gets.
I'm also pretty calm in my day to day life, so everyone was very surprised of my "outbreak", and said I was one of the persons they least expected to do something like that.
I did apologize to my friend whose birthday it was several times during the night and the morning after because I really didn't mean to ruin it and feel genuinely upset about that.
Is this something I should worry about that might repeat itself? I haven't drunken since because I really don't want it to happen again.
I'm sorry if /adv/ is not the right board for a post like this, I mostly needed to get it out.

So for years Ive had one social flaw. In every other situation, face to face regardless of timing, I am completely fine and enjoy talking to people, including strangers. But when it comes to texting, my sent messages are practically nonexistent. I have always been scared to send text messages, regardless of who to. I always feel that I come off as annoying, and Im worried that I'll catch them at a bad time. Also the lack of ability to know the other persons emotions catches me out, since I can never know whether they're being genuine or laughing at me. Over the years, this has pushed me to the outer reaches of my social group, and I am almost always left out of gatherings/not included in the group chat.
There is one person I talk to, and coincidently its the girl I've liked for the past 2 years, but the convo is only ever about work. How can I get past this anxiety /adv/? I don't know who else to ask since everyone keeps telling me im "beyond help"..

Even though I grew up with texting/online chat, I find in person conversation a lot more enjoyable. But now I've developed a similar problem where I absolutely hate conducting small talk through text.
Because of that, I don't get very far with my Tinder matches and I am terrible at maintaining friendships with people I don't see often because I can't be bothered to text them
Gonna stick around to see what others say. I've been pushing myself lately, in small increments, to shoot the shit with more old friends and messaging more matches on Tinder.

The great advantage of texting is that this isn't really possible, People can reply whenever they feel like it, so they will just respond later when they didn't have time atm.
So I've missed 4 deadlines in my uni and have 5th on the way to fuck my grades up. I guess I can still send the shit I wrote and get some marks, albeit lower, but here's a thing.
I CAN'T DO SHIT. Seriously, every fucking time I want to start doing something useful, I just start thinking "well after this one I'll start writing" and then wind up not doing shit. Another thing is, since I live far away from my university, I'm often getting there late. I've started not visiting university because I'm scared to show up, even though I know most of them don't mind it and I lose more by not showing up. Also I've stopped visiting subjects where I've missed deadlines, and that fucks up my grades even more.
So the question is, how do I salvage my grades and motivate myself to continue not fucking up in the future? I can't take a gap year or drop out because I'll get conscripted, and that's not what I want.
How do I make it STOP, guys?
