Well, the decades long mystery is finally settled.

It's not Cody. It's not Joe. It's Scott. Plain old Scott.

http://game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/column-130285.html

And the other guy is Max, not Mike or Balrog.

http://game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/column-130286.html

How does this make you feel to finally know the truth?

I know /vr/ is a place where clever anons exist, so I'd like to ask a question.
I'd want to make an SNES Mode 7 demo where you could raise/lower the horizon, turn around and change the scale. But I have no clue how to program in assembler.
What do?

well first you obviously learn assembly, retard
>>
>>3365283
Well you should start by looking up this
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Super_NES_Programming
But if you don't even know the basics of assembly you won't get far. Good news is that the 65816 a well documented microprocessor with many tutorials same with general SNES programing.

>ask question in the homebrew/hacking general thread on /vg/

So I'm looking at installing a mod chip for my PS1. It's an SCPH-9001 (top model). I took a look around and found a MultiModel3 modchip on eurasia for 4 dollars. I have some wire lying around and have moderate soldering experience but this will be my first hard mod. What else do I need to know and is this a decent mod chip for my console?

>>
You probably should have asked this in the Repair/Mod general we have.

That being said, yes the MM3 is the modchip you want for PS1's. Just follow the diagram they will give you with the chip, and you should be fine. Of course, you may want to look inside of your PS1 so you can get an idea of how small the connections will be, and how small of a tip you will want to use.
>>
It's decent and the soldering isn't hard. Maybe consider a PSIO once they start selling again..essentially a ps1 flashcart

sup /vr/ just got pic related what do ya'll think of it? Despite having an n64 in the 90's I never played a Zelda game, think that might be the first thing I play. I plan on downloading everything for it.

Any of you bro's have this? What games do you like playing on it?

Can someone explain to me the MASSIVE drop in quality of the X series? X is really good. X2-X3 are a real drop in quality. X4 onwards is just terrible. X4-6 are also kinda ugly, with washed out colors.

MM1-6 were all at least good. All use the same engine. Even the weakest ones are alright.
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Because you're a nostalgic piece of shit. The only drop in quality is X6, but of course you will never admit that.

Keep playing the same 8-bit over and over
>>
First time I've ever heard anyone say what OP just said. Ever. I've had many MM fans tell me that X was one of the weaker ones just because it was too easy, not the best in the series. And I've heard pretty much universal praise for X2 and X3.

Is this some kinda bait thread or something?

I personally feel x4 and X5 were very good and fun at the time. But going into ps2 they wanted to make it 3d and it went to shit. Probably a combination of less funds and laziness recycling the same assets and also staff working on MML1&2. I fucking loved X2 & X3 though. I really like the designs in X3 and it had mother fucking Vile Bobafett

Those consoles had shitty games, especially the PS2. Can you imagine coming onto /vr/ and seeing a bunch of talk on PS2 games? No fuckin' Zelda, no fuckin' Mario, just a bunch of topics on shitty PS2 games?

new to the board, I work at a library and someone just dumped this off on us. I was looking at the other nintendo power mags they donated, and emuparadise has the others, but not this one. Should I scan it and upload it to you guys? I googled near and far and couldn't find anyone else with a copy, otherwise I won't bother.

also, shouldn't you guys have a repository of scans of these things somewhere? I know the internet and youtube is already does the same job, but, it feels nostalgically wrong to never scan them and put them somewhere.

well I'm still looking on the internet first, want to be sure it's nowhere else before I upload it. plus it's over 113 pages so it's going to take some time.
>>
>>3364661

alright I didn't find it, but I will upload them here if you'd like, and also on archive.org.

just got a psone with screen and controller that came with an interact battery pack. I have serious doubts about this thing holding a charge as I left it to charge for 12 hours and it still reports a low battery. Such is old rechargeables.

Is there anything I could do with it now? Maybe open it up and replace the old batteries inside with new ones?

To provide a unified front end for emulators for those who use proper dumps and not garbage dumps.

I personally don't like it and prefer stand-alone emulators, but either way you should go get proper dumps for your games. It's 2016, there's no reason to still be keeping copies of subpar dumps.
>>
>>3364503
How to get good dumps without getting all that prototype shit, rom hacks and a lot of diffferent versions for the same game? It becomes a real pain to browse through the playlist with all that crap.

It's not exactly a highly popular franchise. Most people have never even played the sequel, which is a shame because it's much better than the original.

A sourceport for sale like Megaton or Redux is more likely; especially if Blood gets one and it's also successful.
>>
I fucking wish. We need more oddball surreal games.
>>
I've thought about making an unofficial sequel. Redneck Rampage is one of my favorite first-person shooters. I don't want to go to all the trouble if nobody's interested, though.

Time Travel thread.

You have the power to go back and time and change 1 event in video game history. What event do you change? What should happen instead? What effect are you hoping that this will have on the future?
40 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
I'd prevent them from every happening. Where they are now and they people they've created aren't worth the <20 years of decent games
>>
Not even video game history. If I could go back in time and could have the power to change an even in history, I'd make the internet never go mainstream.
Would make it stop around Myspace times, when people suddenly decided that it was okay to upload their real life photos and personal information to the internet. I would also make the internet stay at 56k, or 1MB at most.
Exchange information is OK, but not streaming shit.
Also, kill cell phones, definitely. Or let them stay as phones, smart phones/devices were a mistake.

That alone should make not only the video game industry better, but also the whole world.
>>
>>3364291
>I'd make the internet never go mainstream
>Would make it stop around Myspace times

So about 6 years after it became mainstream. Got it.

>Stay at 56k or 1,024k at the most
Uhhhhhhh. That's a pretty big gap between what you'd do and what you'd settle for.

>Exchange (of) information is okay, but not streaming shit
Fuck off. Streaming shit is awesome. I don't have to sit and spend 3 hours pirating an entire season of something. I can now just watch it online for free.

All in all you're way too willing to go against your own, however retarded they may be, belief and would be a terrible candidate to go back in time.
