It's not exactly what you described but there's musical differences in the US and EU versions of Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday. EU version is said to have come out later.

I've lived in Japan for almost my entire life, and Kirbys Adventure is my favorite game on the Famicom. Is the NES sound really better?

Pretty much any Disk System game that got converted into cartridge format for the NES.

Also, a lot of Master System games from the late 80s/early 90s period supported the FM Sound Unit that came out only in Japan. The difference in quality is definitely noticeable.
