Did a e-celeb recently do this or are people really that dumb to make the same thread twice.
We literally have the exact same thread in the catalog, the thing we have to prevent just this sort of thing from happening.
In short, go duck yourself.
>>3364104
Kill yourself OP, we just had this stupid bait thread. We all know that port is trash.
How often do you guys consult things like faqs or walkthroughs when you get stuck while playing an older game that you haven't played before?
Do you try to avoid it? Do you feel like you should avoid it? Do you not give a fuck?
Playing Ys1 (the 01 version) had me scratching my head on more than one occasion.
I sometimes search up the web looking for hints to a specific part if I've been stuck on it for a real long time, don't have anyone available to ask, and also don't feel like I'm going to get anywhere anytime soon continually bashing my head against the problem.
It's cheating, plain and simple, so I really prefer figuring things out on my own whenever I can.
I only do it to save time; like what are the exact unstated requirements to do X (like get the Excalibur II in FF9), what single thing did I miss 8 hours ago on my 99% file, what arbitrary npc flag do I need to find now after having just talked to every NPC in order to advance the plot, etc.
Sometimes it's just stuff that I remember incorrectly and got confused about and have to double check because I don't take notes on videogames that often.
Often as a replacement for spreadsheets that I'm too lazy to make myself or any number of things really.
There's a bunch of times where it's stuff like "If I don't do this thing now will I be able to do it later", "If I do this thing will it change everything 8 hours from now", like shit I can't be bothered to play the entire game over again just to find out.
I pretty much abhor the practice of using guides to solve puzzles and shit though, the most often time I do do it for that reason it's because I have no idea where to go after seemingly having explored everywhere.

I almost dont use them at all.
A week ago I had to because I was stuck in a part of a MoH Pacific Assault game while playing on Hard(that was the key mistake) and didnt helped me one bit.
I know its not retro but the game suffers from serious bugs that come apparent when difficulty is increased.
Sniper grenades, and 3 machine gun nests on a corridor shooter is no fun.
is $350 too much to ask for the sega stuff? I bought most of it brand new at kay-bee toys when I was a kid. everything is complete except the menacer is missing some of the cardboard inserts
>>3363903
350 for all that is a steal.
should I try and bundle in my complete attache gg setup? I have everything but the link cable and modded the battery pack with a new rc car pack
If you're a Saudi prince sure why not
Other than that seems like a waste of money
Saw it recommended on the wiki. Looks pretty good and from what I can gather the best version of this series and faithful to arcade. Have never actually bought a puzzle game despite liking puzzle mini games and tetris in a lot of series. Where does this stack up in the genre?
>>3363628
I personally really like Puzzle Bobble 3 on the saturn, this is fine though.
It's the weakest of the 4 Puzzle Bobble's but it's still pretty good, has a big emphasis on physics and weight shifting. 3 is the best though.
So I wanted to play Snatcher, but since I'm living in europe and this game is very rare today, I wanted to emulate the sega cd version on the Fusion emulator. The Problem is, that right after the title screen another screen appears that says:
Return to control screen, initialize at option screen
- press start button-
After pressing the start button i get a black screen. No other button works while I'm on the other screen. Any solution to this problem?

Try this ones.
Also select the cd driver.
I'm fed up with the idea that we can't play old games for discontinued systems like Atari and so on. I understand developers keep the copyright for so long so people don't recreate the game and make profit off of it. But people still do and get away with it. I also understand that they keep the copyright to secure the market and stop piracy. But it still happens. So, why not change the legality of downloading roms? I think that they should be able to keep the copyright for as long as it is now(75 years), but after a period of 1-5 years after the game and system have been discontinued, we should be able to download the game freely without worry of potential penalties. whether we actually own the game or not. As far as I know, after the initial sale from the developer to the retailer and royalties from the sale of retailer to consumer, the developer doesn't make money. Second hand sale profits go directly to the second hand store. Allowing the download of roms would not only stop people from becoming "Pirates", but also allow future generations to enjoy the history of gaming first hand instead of just reading about it. Now, some will argue that you can play the rom in-browser through government approved libraries, but it is not always a possibility given the need for a constant, good internet connection. I want to know everyone's thoughts on this and also how to improve this in order to potentially change status of the current copyright exemptions.
It's cool bro, just delete the rom before 24 hours passes and you're good.
>>3363464
Given the current laws in the US, that's not the case anymore. If you have something saying otherwise, please tell me. https://assets.documentcloud.org/.../2488067/2015-27212.pdf pg. 54-56
>>3363483
It's a joke, anon. Something rom distributors used to say back then.
I don't like killing these dogs you guys
it's worse when they make cute dog noises
stupid pussy cat loving developers hate dogs so they put this shit in games
Deal with it OP, you're saving the world here.
I got one of these bad boys in the mail a couple of days ago. I already put a complete set of games on there, what are some other interesting things I can play on it? Things like romhacks, homebrew, utilities, demos, etc.

Fallout Resurection came up today. http://resurrection.cz/en/
It's a total conversion mod for Fallout 2 that's been in the works since the 2000 or so.
>mods
Not bad. Do any other FO2 mods go this extensive? I've only ever used the unofficial patch.

Looks cooool
So some friends of mine got themselves an Arcade cab, but we can't seem to find any info on it. It says it's a Dynamo HS 7, model No. 021700000
but whenever we look it up, we cant find any info an an HS 7. is it an HS 27 and the label is just faded? or has all recorded history of an HS 7 been wiped from the earth?
>>3363357
It's a fucking wooden box designed for any shitty American game. Probably has a jamma interface, that's about it.
Probably the only known HS-7 model cab in the world. Does that actually make it valuable? Probably not especially if it doesn't have any obvious unique qualities. Does it?
>>3363371
well it is pretty beat up so they are trying to find any info on it to sort of restore it to what it was supposed to look like.
>>3363379
I dont think so.
How come /vr/ doesn't have active shmup threads anymore?
Did all the /vr/ shmup fans go to /vg/?
What's the last shooting game you played?
Not retro: Exzeal
Probably my favorite of the Triangle Service games. Ship type 3 with its proximity scoring system is the best
Retro: Task Force Harrier
Played this on location at a nickel arcade yesterday. Pretty simple game, but fun. It even has default autofire.

What causes these things to not boot or to hang during use? It is something that, with the power of internet, schematics and a soldering iron, could be repaired to make these things actually useful?
Clean up its contacts
>>3362893
Not sure. I have a dead 2.2 myself. Luckily, my 3.0 still works. Oddly enough, when you plug the 3.0 into the 2.2, it will boot up. It's fucking weird.
Many games need the right keycode, and it doesn't come with all of them. SM64 is my go-to, because the default keycode always works and you can use that game to switch keycodes.
Many games also need a "master code" in order for the game to boot after visiting the GS main menu. Those can be harder to find for JP games, whereas some other keycode will usually work.
Definitely try to get v3.2 or 3.3, you can upgrade the firmware but I don't have any PC with a parallel port.

Does /vr/ like arena and multi-directional shooters such as Smash TV, Robotron, and Cannon Spike?
It's a nice genre, snes control pad was perfect for this and should had more titles besides Super Smash TV.

I must fix this someday.

Is this the best option for a arcade stick for a sega saturn? got a lot of mixed signals about this thing.
>>3362637
This is the best one outside of making your own.
>>3362664
That's not to mention that it is any good, though. I have one and it was a huge disappointment: the stick has 50/50 chance of being a good Seimitsu or some kind of awful ASCII stick, the buttons are all noname crap, and you can't switch out the buttons without destroying the PCB and dremeling the button holes on the front - not to mention that you have to destroy the artwork if you want to change the stick, as it is a sticker with screws underneath.
You are better off getting a decent modern pad and soldering one of those crappy batwing style Saturn pad PCBs inside (due to the design of those pads, the PCBs come in three interconnected pieces, which means you have perfect solder holes for each button connector on the central board which hosts the connector and the controller IC).
>>3362693
is there any way of telling on the picture if it is a ASCII stick?
