>only one known copy in existence
>rarer than Stadium Events or NWC
>in the hands of some autistic Megaman collector
how does it feel knowing your copy of Megaman 6 is a variant and you'll never own the real one?
>>3364509
You act like mm6 was any good in the first place
>>3364509
fake as fuck
literally who cares. I got a second hand copy of mm6 in beat up condition because I want to play the game, not fetishize the box
or regrets relating to retro ramifications
>you will never have the freely disposable time again to sink 80-100 hours into an RPG because obligations keep bogging you down
what now
I'll never be able to purchase retro consoles for dirt cheap.
I had the option to buy factory sealed copies of Super Metroid for $25 a pop 15 years ago. I didn't buy any.
>>3364119
Sega genesis is still kinda cheap tho. I just got one for like 30.
My regret is selling my gamecube. N64 and dreamcast.
>hear from /vr/ that Metal Slug is GOAT
>download the anthology on PSN to try it out
>1's controls are fucking abysmal, 2 and on are better but are still complete clusterfucks giving you no time to react to anything
Tell me again why this series gets so much praise? Is it just the pixel art? Because the gameplay is far too coin-grabby and turns from fun to frustrating very quickly if you haven't memorized the arbitrary stage layouts.
Your complaint is that it's too hard. Are we supposed to take this seriously?
If you don't understand you don't understand.
>>3362908
No, my complaint is that the difficulty stems from manipulative arcade-era design choices that are typically shunned even in retro games. An arcade game with poorer graphics would definitely catch flak for having unresponsive controls and invisible/cluttered sprites.
>>3362862
>game is bad because it's too hard
Can't you just enter unlimited virtual coins in the anthology ones? The fun is getting good to the point where you can beat the levels without dying, stop being a garbage child and grow a sack
Why are there no good games besides first-party and Banjo?
>>3362556
Because that's all you fucking played.
http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Nintendo_64
Try shit on that list.
The fact that /v/ is infinitely more mature about this than /vr/ baffles me.
Maybe you just need to research a bit better. Don't pay attention to IGN's "best N64 games" lists, it's all 1st party always.
If you want to find the good 3rd party stuff, you got to do your own work.
Hint: as per with Saturn, a lot of good shit never left Japan.
Because there were no good developers besides nintendo and rareware
Just downloaded mame
I want to know /vr/'s favorite lesser known or obscure arcade games that are worth checking out
>>3361668
Ninja Baseball Batman sounds ridiculous but is a lot of fun. Also has nothing to do with Batman™.
>>3361668
what genre games do you wanna play anon?
Uo Poko
Star Sweep
Did you beat the scooter level in Battletoads as a child?
My parents only allowed me to play 1 hour a day. I think I've tired to beat that level over 100 times. I always got stuck there for more than half an hour and then get my playing time for the day was over.
>>3361109
>scooter level
That's the Turbo Tunnels, mate.
>>3361109
NO ONE beat that shit legit. EVER.
>>3361123
Yeah I know, sorry. At the time of playing it I didn't speak English yet.
Funnily enough, I beat Battletoads and Double Dragon, but still couldn't beat the Turbo Tunnels in the original.
Should I play the Playstation or Dreamcast version of this game?
>>3360214
What kind of retarded question is this
>>3360214
I can't think of a single DC game that was better on PSX.
I'm not trying to derail your thread, but I don't know why DC wouldn't be the choice here.
>>3360214
Wow, I never realized the difference in graphics between the PS and the DC.
Do you call it SNES (S-NESS), Super NES, or Super Nintendo?
SNES when written, Super Nintendo when spoken.
I call it the Super NES or the Super Nintendo.
For some reason when I hear people saying SNESS it makes me irrationally angry
I call the NES the "Regular Nintendo" though
>>3360212
>I call it the Super NES or the Super Nintendo.
Same. That or S N E S
>For some reason when I hear people saying SNESS it makes me irrationally angry
Yes, they're faggos.
>I call the NES the "Regular Nintendo" though
Don't do that. Either call it the Nintendo Entertainment System or just simply the N E S.
In what System do you guys Emulate your Games? I'm currently doing it on my Samsung Galaxy S4, it works surprisingly good.
Why the fuck would anyone use a phone to emulate games?
>>3360050
this tbqh famalamandingdong
i emulate on my macbook pro with a dualshock 4 controller in openemu
Currently using an original Xbox with CoinOps 7.
Works well, not a fan of the original Xbox controller though
If I wanted to play Rayman 2 would the 3DS port be a good choice?
>>3359929
Nah, it's a pretty bad port with a lot of stability and graphical issues. Play the Dreamcast version instead.
>>3359929
I've heard it's good, basically the DC version.
>>3359968
Don't have a Dreamcast (yes I realize I'm a terrible person), how's the PS2 version?
Why does everyone think Kenji Inafune created Mega Man when Akira Kitamura is?
clearly, because he himself claims it
well.... japan seemed to think so too for some reason. Looking at these capcom friendly club videos...
>>3358935
Why not both? It takes more than one person to create a game
Japanese games thread anyone?
Pic related, it's one of a few packages I mailed to myself a few months ago right before I stopped living on Japan. I collected a lot over those 4 years, so if anyone has any questions about that I'm around to answer.
>>3357797
bump.
What's your favorite?
>>3357813
Out of this pile? Its tough. Robocco Wars is awesome, at least I really like it.
Evangelion is a guilty pleasure, but I think its a fairly solid title.
Goemon 2 is great and obviously is Super Metroid (I bought them because I the English versions are too expensive). I also have Harvest Moon for the Super Fami.
Its hard to pick just one, so I'd say its a tie between the Goemon 2 and Robocco Wars.
The 3DO controller has 3 face buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, and a start and select button.
SF2 requires six buttons so for the 3DO game one of the start/select buttons is used to do moves.
The game lets you redefine buttons.
What is the best way to play:
Use the select button for the slowest moves - roundhouse kick?
Map the select button to the least useful move and then don't bother pressing it - which move to sacrifice?
>>3357769
play it on mame with an arcade stick?
>>3357769
There is a 6 button pad for 3DO, which is probably a better option.
>>3357769
GGPO on madcatz.
