What game let me feel like a mega powerful mage with tons of spells? Party based RPGs included too.
Morrowind is the best I can think of, which is a shame

Diablo 2?

late game baldur's gate or related games
early game mages are weak, but they get really powerful

fucking groovy. I had no idea this game existed. Do you recommend it?

If you like Lego it's gotta be the comfiest Lego game ever made. It's just a big sandbox full of minigames and building stuff with the actual story portion being totally optional. Pretty fun imo.
What is the funniest retro game?
threads of fate is hilarious at times.
The cheesy musicals are the best part.

Ultima Underworld, while not a generally funny game, had one plaque that had me literally fall off the chair laughing.
pic related. The difficulty isn't legitimate, it's just bullshit. Gameplay is astonishingly mediocre, and you can clearly see which parts of the game weren't finished. Of Myths and Monsters is an improvement, but I can see why this series lay dormant for over 20 years.
>>3865959
git gudThat's my sincere advice to you. It's fun
>>3865959
I wouldn't say Kid Icarus qualifies since not that many people ever mention it.
The two retro titles were pretty enjoyable, but I didn't find any lasting appeal to them. It's like Metroid with smaller worlds and some linearity. The second game was literally a copy-and-paste of all the items and mechanics of the first game, just with a different story and a different set of levels.

There is not such thing as illegitimate difficulty. People just use terms like that to remove their accountability for failing
I just finished Echo Night 2, best game I've played in a long, long time.
It's aged fantastically.
I'm about to start Echo Night, and if I like it, I'm considering buying Echo Night 3 (for PS2).
Anyone wanna talk about the Echo Night series? Anyone played Echo Night: Beyond (EN 3) for PS2?
>>3865803
yeah, sure.
what did you like about it?
>>3865809
The level of detail. Every piece of furniture, every item has a detailed description.
The horror wasn't IN YOUR FACE AUAUAUAUAU, but often subtle. There were bits of optional text that creeped me out. The stories of the characters made me feel happy and sad or tense at times.
The graphics were beautiful for the time. Absolutely stunning for PS.
There are problems, too. But I enjoyed this a great deal.
>>3865803
Echo Night 2 was translated?
If so, that's nice. I was waiting on that before starting the series.
Is he right?
Well, yeah, CRTs can't be emulated (for example, how do you emulate being able to see scanlines from closeup, but a more seamless image if you look from afar? emus "scanlines" shaders always display the scanlines, the effect is not the same), if you're gonna emulate on an HD screen, just go raw pixels.
Carmack is a faggot though.
>>3864959
Well, it's an opinion. One that I agree with 100%, but I don't see the point in judging the guy on a statement as inoffensive as that one.
Games back then have clearly been made with crt displays in mind. Just look at the lamps in the mine levels of DKC. Withour shaders the area around them gets gradually brighter in rectangular shapes. Apply a crt shader and you will have nice looking halos around the lamps.
Playing a burned copy of snatcher and it just takes me to this screen help

Ended up being great.
Also, same as OP. Liked Thousand Arms as I was big time into harem comedy at the time. Was like playing Tenchi Muyo.
yeah I'd probably give anything to have the feeling you get when you randomly choose a game without knowing anything about it and it turns out to be amazing again
So fucking awful.
Which classic Zelda is the best?
>for exploration
The Legend Of Zelda
>for story
A Link To The Past
>for combat/gameplay
Adventure Of Link
>for overall feel/atmosphere
Link's Awakening

TLOZ wins as Zelda games are literally all about exploring
MDK thread, this game is one of a kind. You can talk about MDK2 also because it's retro on the dreamcast. MDK2 was pretty good honestly despite being different.
MDK was so outrageously bizarre and I loved it, the lack of a MDK3 is a damn shame. One of the creators actually wanted to make the sequel happen a while back, but Interplay was being unsurprisingly uncooperative about the licensing shit.
>>3863667
Way better as an actual platformer than the collectathons that came out soon after.
>>3863678
MDK2 was never a collectathon unless you're talking about a different game. Only time it even came close was with the doctor and even then there was very little of it.
Can we discuss Rakugaki Showtime? if this would have had a US release I think it could've been a real competitor for the Smash Bros market at the time.

Can you upload some gameplay for it?
>>3862327
just search utube for it, someone has already done a playthrough and there is a promo vid for it from the creators
>>3862327
here you go friend. OP if your thread is this slow you should be posting these caps yourself.
Question...
Why did psx greatest hits games have colorless cds, but their normal counterparts were colored?
It's a small gripe I know but it does chew at me a bit...
Quite simply to identify them as a greatest hits inside the packaging as well as outside.
Save money on printing
Greatest hits only cost 20$ compared to 50$ for new releases
Choose.

Tarma or Fio depending on how sexy I feel that day.
Fio's my default, otherwise Marco.
Were there any performance difference between the four characters or is it just aesthetics?
