ITT games you bought just because anime

Ended up being great.
Also, same as OP. Liked Thousand Arms as I was big time into harem comedy at the time. Was like playing Tenchi Muyo.
yeah I'd probably give anything to have the feeling you get when you randomly choose a game without knowing anything about it and it turns out to be amazing again
So fucking awful.

Same, bought it from the Dreamcast clear out section because of the character designs.
Played it for half an hour.

I'm not a weeb, so exactly zero games purchased for that reason.

I remembering picking the cute rollerblade girl...and never paying again after 15 mins. It was just AWFUL.
Gundam Wing: Endless Duel for the Mechas. I didn't know what Gundam was as a kid but the cool box with giant robots made me buy it.
It was and still is one of my favorite fighting games ever.

I bought this when only the original Dragon Ball was airing on TV (Red Ribbon saga, I believe).
I was very confused about this game and who these characters were, or why did they turn blond. Nevertheless I loved it, still do.

>my retro games are so much cooler than yours
you're a fucking dork regardless of whether you're a "weeb"

Is anyone like me?
I dont really watch anime other than the old stuff like Dragon Ball or Saint Seiya but i still like to play games with anime artstyle.
Pic related in my case, pretty unique fighter that only plays with two buttons, pretty diverse cast.
The final song is pretty good.

>trap gunner
Never has a title lied to me more.

>Was like playing Tenchi Muyo.
i didn't believe it, then i watched a gameplay video.
there really is something that can match tenchi's shittiness.
Spoiler alert, this was shit.
But it was pretty damn good.
Better than some hyper real shitfest.
Bought this at a small Con when I was just getting into anime thanks to Toonami. Was pretty fun from what I remember.

The character designs are legit cool though.

Where the hell did you live that sold that game but not have Gundam be prevalent enough for you not to know of it?
I'm a moe-buta galgamer/erogamer so "anime" is like my whole library.
Local game store owner helped me with finding some good Megadrive games (mostly pirated because bootleg land) - Shining Force, Phantasy Star, Landstalker and so on.
And once he received a box of legit imports and saved this game for me. Still one of my most favorite games ever.

You are a good person.
>>3864525
Edgy
>>3864643
yeah i think anime is boring as fuck but i like the visual aesthetic (usually dont like the music)
>>3864728
In a place where movie & video game rental stores with SNES and Super Famicom titles were very common.

I want to swap out PS2, DS, and Vita to make a /vr/ version of that photo but the only other system I have anything appropriate on is Gameboy.
I must further explore the lost realms of ancient gal games.
Sweet game, but it makes me real nauseous.

Keep being cool, guy.

That would be 90%+ of my pre-Xbox games. If you're looking for bad, that I purchased, I would say pic related. Sega managed to get millions in funding to develop the series, and shat this out. It rode on the coattails of Fujishima Kosuke's popularity from Aa! Megami-sama and even that series goes nowhere, such that they doubled down on the anime aspect with his character design "skill" and they flamed out in spectacular fashion. Sega deserves all the shit for the worst possible bets with all that money. At the time I was convinced with its [anime] art, now I realize it's just superficial uncultured, undeveloped shit of a "game. "

I don't watch any anime, but the aesthetic really appeals to me. Studio Ghibli animations were a big part of my childhood, so I can never leave. Almost 90% my non-PC DOS games tend to be of Japanese pop character artstyle in some form.
retro games? not many
too many non-retro games though, and boy were most of them rough
most of my animu game purchases were because they were JRPGs, not because they were animu
why are animay games so expensive?
>>3865398
You have to pay extra for all the desu's
Not really but I was pleasantly surprised when this game was anime inspired.
>starving for good PC games
>move to a big city next to a struggling media play
>always good shit on sale
>PC game budget release packs $5
>Interplay collection
>None of the other games had an anime style
>store goes out of business
>Buy boxes of anime VHS for cheap on the last day
College was fun.
I remember downloading this and instantly disliking it because of the shitty voice acting.
Not /vr/, but when I bought my 360 I arbitrarily picked up the Project Sylpheed remake.
I never made it past the 2nd stage, and maybe the plot got better but the dialogue was pretty bad. also, I couldn't take the fact that characters where calling to the main character by name, "katana", all the time.
