I'm genuinely curious why you chose those two games. I mean, I enjoyed them, but they aren't my favorites.
thinking about either buying an Android tablet or a Windows 10 tablet for /VR/ purposes. I know Android tablet can play almost all emulators, SNES, genesis, PSX, etc. but could a Windows tablet play some /vr/ late 90s games, besides emulation? (some some slightly not vr games) the tablet I'm looking at has an Intel atom 1.33ghz quad core and 1gb ram with integrated graphics, could I play some deus ex, system shock 1&2,half life 1and it's mods, cs1.6, deathmatch, dod
should I stick to Android and emulators or a cheapo win tab and some PC games too?
>>3853769
Of course a windows PC is going to play windows PC games.
>>3853769
That windows tablet is underpowered and lacks RAM.
It will be slow as shit.
HP Stream 7 is what I use for that purpose
is there anyone here who unironically prefers the nintendo 64 over the super nintendo?
>>3853657
Me!
I think we can all agree that the SNES was the last great Nintendo console, in terms of both first-party and third-party line-up.
>>3853657
Its not cool to like n64 anymore is it?
For a while it was THE console people still played other than whatever the newest thing was
Which platform games are worth playing after finishing all the classic ones? All systems as well as platforming sub-genres (Puzzle platformers, Run n' Guns etc) are OK for me. The games that were popular in their heyday but got overshadowed by their sequels or other similar titles are also fine.
Journey to Silius
Taromaru on Saturn.
Game is stupid expensive, but a CD-R is not.
>>3853573
looks pretty good. Is it playable for someone who can't read Japanese?
ITT: Concept art vs in-game graphics
Template
This seems like a pretty cool idea, op. I'll contribute some later after I'm done fappan
>>3853275
Call me crazy but I think that concept art is communicated effectively in the final game. Lizalfos were pretty scary when I was a kid.
What RPG (Western or JRPG but obviously retro), do you consider to be the most difficult/challenging (that can actually be beaten without cheats/hacks/etc.)?
By difficult and challenging I mean games that require skill, planning, thought, strategy, etc. as opposed to getting lucky/RNG and so on (I assume Wizardry IV would take the title otherwise).
>>3852824
Wizardry IV.
Wizardry 4 isn't just luck. You're not going to make it through the game just by manipulating the dice.
The trick for Might and Magic book 1 is to have several Wizards with a high speed stat so you can win battles before the enemies get a move.
You can carry enough food to rest 40 times without going to the Inn so spellpoints are no issue and there are places where you can quickly grind unlimited amounts of gems so you can really spam several Metoer Shower spells every combat round once you learned it.

tfw had already seen a girl naked when tomb raider came out so was never interested in playing it
>talking to someone who plays games
It's like prince of persia but in 3d, and the music is really good.
>talking to someone who doesn't play games
It's like indiana jones but with a girl.
>>3852415
Did you already see a girl burn the traction cables of an elevator to get faster on the roof of a skyscraper though?
Whats your favorite Western RPGs or dungeon crawlers? No Asian RPGs.
>OP says he wants RPGs posted
>Starts off the thread with a Click'em Up
???
>>3851991
Its a good and challenging dungeon crawler. Better than that jrpg trash where you spam the A button and occasionally heal a party member.
>>3851987
Might and Magic 6
Diablo was a lot of fun as well for a single character dungeon crawler.
Memes aside, is it really THAT bad? Why do people hate this temple so much?
The Great Bay Temple in Majora's Mask is so much worse.
It makes the Water Temple look like a playground.
>>3851954
I played oot for the first time on 3ds and had absolutely no problem with that temple. In fact i didn't like the game because i thought it was much too easy.
>>3851954
it's just annoying having to stop playing the game and go into the menu to change your boots every 30 seconds
> buying cartloads of poor quality games you will never play just to beef up the size of your collection
Please tell me you guys don't do this
Most people here only buy games they want to play.
>>3851920
Eh, if I'd have had the foresight to not sell all my good shit to a second hand game store back in the late 90s to buy a couple of ps1 games I might've turned into a collectorfag. As is, I'm not interested in dropping $5000 rebuying all my favorite games I practically gave away for like $50 back then, let alone mountains of shitty sports games and other assorted bullshit just to make my collection bigger. Emulators, burned discs, and flashcarts only for me now.
I don't do this.
Post your favourite sprite animations
Can't find a gif of it, but his laughing victory pose
Hey /vr/os, here's the thing.
For most of my life, I've been playing nothing but JRPGs, stuff like Suikoden, Xenogears, Grandia, etc (to name a few).
I feel like I've been missing a lot, so I decided to boot up Steam and give some WRPGs a try, the problem is that I don't know where to start.
I'm looking for a smooth transition, what would you say is the best?
A friend recommended me Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment, but I also want /vr/'s opinion, if possible.
Elder Scrolls
Try out Wizardry I-III. They have gameplay similiar to the Etrian Odyssey series.

Baldur's Gate /w widescreen mod
Daggerfall
Morrowind
Arx Fatalis
Fallout
Wizardry
Ultima
Might and Magic
Deus Ex
The strings at 0:52 - do they remind you of anything?
Or maybe a "popular music that sounds like retro game music" general.
Pic unrelated.

That was a pretty common progression in a lot of 80's rock.
Was there anything in particular you liken it to?
Which are your favorites? Least favorites? My rankings, from what I've played:
>God tier
Ultima VII
Ultima IV
>Great tier
Ultima V
>Good tier
Ultima Underworld
Ultima VIII
>Meh tier
Ultima II
>Couldn't get through it tier
Ultima
Ultima IX
Ultima 1 was actually not to bad to get through as long as you had a checklist FAQ or something to know where to go. I couldn't stand 2 though.
7 BG and Underworld are my top tiers. Serpent Isle holds a special place in my heart
Exodus and those Runes of Virtue spinoffs for Game Boy were the only ones I enjoyed. The rest of the series is pretty garbage-tier, especially with sequels just being endless rehashes of Quest of the Avatar.
VII was pretty notable for breaking social norms at the time, though. The player could solicit members of the same sex if they were so inclined. Not sure how that got past the censors, unless the ratings regulators were simply too focused on consoles at the time.
Let's try to discuss this amazing series.
Post your favorite:
>Belmont
>level/set piece
>enemy
>music
>boss fight
>background graphic
>sound effect
>splash screen
Can't think of what else to add but that should get the thread going.
I'm leaving out "favorite game" because I think most CV games are good and you should be able to pick favorite stuff from different ones, instead of limiting yourself to only one of the titles.
favorite tiddyvania: sotn succubus
Playing Symphony of the Night for the first time, are there any non-Vlad relics in the second castle or did I just miss two? The ones I need are near the top of the list with Mist/Wolf/Bat/etc.
