In your opinion, which N64 games had the most impressive graphics?
I'm a real N64 hater but the quality of its 3D is clearly superior to PSX and Saturn thanks to SGI. I wasn't a big PC gamer back in the day but now that I've built a retro gaming PC and see games like Half-Life on native GPUs it makes me sad all over again that Nintendo opted against mass storage with the N64.
Conker for special effects (better than many 6th games IMO)
World Driver Championship for polygon count (double Ridge Racer R4 and 20% higher than Crash 3)
>>3858323
Do what?
Are you saying use CDs?
Because Conker wouldn't be possible with CDs.
I want to play the original three but im not sure which platform to do it on
>>3858273
FFI and II are best on either PS1 or PSP. 3 is best on NES translated
>>3858273
FFI is PSX, NES or Wonderswan only
FFII is PSP or GBA
FFIII is debated but probably DS/ports of DS
your first time through FFII should be GBA/PSP because of the item descriptions and those dudes in the first room who explain how the levelling system works
Picked this game up the other week, what am I in for?
Trial and error.

you gon die... a lot...
>>3858225
So I should... prepare to die?
Favorite retro Zelda concept art? Keep it official. Please no fan art, and I'm mainly looking for pre-3D concept art.
Oracle Link is my favorite.

Are you a girl? Girls are obsessed with shota link.
Hey anons, any of you happen to remember a graphical adventure that was set in the future, its intro had a city floating in the sky, inside a glass cupola/dome (ms paint pic related). The game started inside some kind of.. apartment I'd say, there was an elevator that would lead down to some pipes/sewer like stuff.
It looked futuristic, but not full sci-fi. Graphics were 'realistic', using pre-rendered images (I'd say the game was made in the mid to late 90s)..
I've been looking for years for the game and just can't remember anything about its name. Any help?
Beneath a Steel Sky?
>>3857976
sorry, forgot to say it was played in first person.
>>3857982
Hmmmm.... Rise of the Dragon? Or was it like CGI?
Bought these games with my dipshit friend at a game store.
1: Faxandu
2: Syphon Filter 2
3: Blast Corps
4: Hybrid Heaven
What am I in for, /vr/?
Sorry in advance for the inversion.
>>3857969
These are basically all classics that get a lot of love here from their respective camps but mainly you're going to get shit for your pic being upside down.
>>3857983
Maybe he's visiting from Australia
OSSC restock soon, lads. Are any of you on the waiting list?
>>3857942
No, and I don't see why anyone would be. You realize it's not the same thing as a framemeister right? OSSC is just a line doubler
>>3858050
Except for the fact that the OSSC is open source, cheaper, and currently has a quicker recovery time when the resolution changes.
>>3858050
*line quintupler
I have an opportunity to buy an original copy of Revelations: Persona for $50, guy says it's not working but it's probably his laser. Is it worth it or should I just pay $25 for the PSP port? Is this game even good?, I started with P3.
>>3857915
It's certainly more of a grind than 3, but I liked it. Check the disc before you commit. $50 is still a lot for a game even if it's a deal. You could always just hack the psp? I'm not sure about models other than the psp go, though.
>>3857924
Disc looks good to me, but I guess I'm wondering if the PSP version is a lot better or the same as the PSX version? I don't particularly care about the rarity of it.
>>3857915
>Paying $50 for a non working copy when FUCKING GAMESTOP gets them in guaranteed for $50 every once in a while
That guy is a shitter.
damn that's a rough framerate. how's the PS1 version?
I didn't notice any rough framerate.
PS1 version lacks some background layers iirc
>>3857903
there's some wicked framedrops in the first level.
PS1 has better framerate and more content
Regardless of popular opinion, I will say tekken 3 is the best fighting game of all time. Sure you have the classics like asuka 120% burning festival, mugen, street fighter 2 turbo and mortal kombat but you want to know what sets tekken 3 apart? The grace of it. Yes, the grace that allows the combos to take time, the unspammable nature of the game is built into its core. The grace that accompanies side stepping and counter attacks most other fighting games lack (i will say mortal kombat deadly alliance comes close). But apart from that the realistic nature of the fighting. No spammable projectiles, million mile juggling unbreakable combos and so forth. Plus the characters are enjoyable to play and in most cases don't feel like you lose at fighter select.
Yes, Tekken 3: the best.
I don't really think you know very much about fighting games
I liked it too.
Tekken 3 is the best but you should probably delete your shit thread.
Opinions on this controller for emulation on an Android tablet?
>>3857857
There are many RetroArch users who use this controller, so it definitely works for android emulation.
As a bluetooth device, it will use more cpu and ram than a wired controller, and there could be more lag. Depending on the power of the tablet, this could be a big deal or no deal at all.
I've just about decided to buy one myself. It gets good reviews both officially and in passing here on /vr/ plus in addition to being Android, Wii and PS3 compatible it just became Xinput compatible for PC. Now my only decision is whether to wait on the special Year of the Cock version to ship from Asia or not.
>>3857857
I mean every controller works on android. I think its not a great choice though because you only have 2 bumpers instead of 4, also do the sticks click in?
So on that note i ask, why not use a xbox or ps controller? heck you can even use a wii controller if you wanted.
However i think unless you doing it socially portable emulation tends to be a bit of a joke. Its never really fun even on trains. That goes for most portable games too.
Can we get a WRPG thread?
Post your favourite one, a gameplay picture and write why you like it..
For me it's Darklands, because it's a historical RPG, something we don't get often, it has a high replay value and a great soundtrack.
>>3850904
Check the catalogue next time.
>>3857840
It's made for JRPG fans new to WRPGs, I made this one so people can post their western favourites, and talk about them in depth.
Might and Magic 6
Nonlinear RPG with massive dungeons and lots of places you can explore. No handholding or tutorial island and you can fuck off to endgame areas as soon as you start the game.
Was Star Fox 2 supposed to be so easy?
I though it was pretty fun, but I beat the whole thing in one sitting, and Wolf was the only enemy that gave me any real challenge.
>>3857812
My score
It's missing some elements from the final build. What they are escapes me.
>>3857816
Yeah.
The two things I'd say are missing is more waves of enemies after you clear the board initially, and more counter attacks from the bosses/cores.
The cores/bosses shoot at you, yeah, but if you just smash fire you'll only get hit like once before the core/boss is destroyed.
Games you barely remembered as a kid that you successfully tracked down? When did you first play it? How did it hold up to your memories?
One of mine is Sengoku for the Neo-Geo. I played this game ONCE in an arcade when I was 7 or 8. Even though my play time was really short, the game left quite an impression. In particular, the part in the first level where you warped up to the clouds and fought enemies there, and the game giving me swords to fight with stuck with me as some of the most awesome things I had seen in a game up to that point.
Years later when I finally got into Neo-Geo emulation, I got to play through Sengoku again, and was very pleasantly surprised to find a good beat-em-up. From an adult perspective, the sprites are a little stiff, but overall it's an incredibly stylish game.
Have you played Sengoku 3? It's probably the coolest Beat'EmUp I can think of.
History Mystery from Microzine #18
When you successfully complete it you get to rename the museum's snack bar and I could never freaking do it within the computer lab time limit but my jewish buddy Danny Greenspan could and he would name it all kinds of shit like just to taunt me!
This pile of shit right here. 5yo me thought it was the greatest thing ever but as an adult I barely consider it a "game"

For a skilled player the laser is actually the best weapon in the game
Sure it does more damage then the spread gun from point blank?
>>3857691
But flamethrower is the funnest.
>>3857698
Flame in the original Contra is absolute shit
