>"Unlike the rest of the characters, Phobos's sprites are made by combining various parts. And there are over 1400 of those parts in all. It felt just like putting together a Jigsaw puzzle." -Toshikazu Matsumoto
This game have some sick animations, and Huitzil is the best of 'em all.
>>3855390
This part-by-part spriting method really allowed Huitzil to have some fluid animation in Darkstalkers 1 because you could make lots of frames of animation by combining the same parts in slightly different ways. But it did lead to a problem because it meant that the total number of tiles being loaded into RAM for each frame of animation was much higher than an average character due to all of the overlapping and such. If you use cheats to do a Huitzil mirror match in Darkstalkers 1 you'll actually occasionally get NES-esque sprite flickering due to too many tiles trying to display at once. It's because of issues like that that when he became a playable character in Night Warriors/Vampire Hunter, most of his graphics had to be reworked.

They also did that for Sentinel in X-Men COTA
Is this game any good? I never played it as a kid because I was mad it was a Twisted Metal ripoff.
I was a company man as a kid.
>>3855356
Yeah it's pretty good
I actually like it a bit more that TM. It has actual objectives other than kill everyone.
GOAT soundtrack and crazy character designs
What's your opinion on older-age jrpg characters such as Cid Highwind (32)?
They're hot.t. femanon with daddy issues
Nice change of the usual. I never understood the Japanese's fascination with adolescent. Every JRPG character and protagonist is around 16-21
>>3855241
>Japanese's fascination with adolescent.
It's a common trope, not just japanese, a lot of ancient legends have heroes that are in that age range.
Look at david and goliath, king alexander and many others.
It wasn't until Jesus Christ (rather recent compared to many other hero stories) that the hero got to be older (33)
Hello /vr/, I really want to play this game. What's the best version?

Did you know anyone that had a power glove /rg/?
I did not but my cousin had a R.O.B.
Over the years, I didn't fall much for the obscure peripherals but I did own the following.
Dreamcast kb and mouse - popped my cherry for online FPS with Quake 3. I think I died 50 times before making a frag.
Dreamcast broadband adapter - for when you were making your parents keep dial up in addition to just getting cable and because I was obsessed with both Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament.
Fun fact - between me playing my order for the broadband adapter and me receiving it, Sega announced they were leaving the hardware business. I sold my DC along with everything for it for a Geforce 2 with 64 megs of VRAM.
I have gone through many peripherals since but not obscure ones really.
I dunno how much that video card cost but the broadband adapter was worth a pretty penny there for a while because it was the way DC games were dumped for ripping
I've never realized before how the Power glove dude looks exactly young Anakin from the new trilogy
What 30 games should be included?
Mario Paint
super metroid and shadowrun
The usual Nintendo/Capcom/Konami contenders.
So what's the cheapest Restoration spell as far as spell points go?
I only have 26 spell points, but I want to raise my Restoration skill a couple of times(it's at 20 right now), so I can be able to join the Mages Guild and be able to enchant my items later on in Daggerfall.
>>3854679
I'm not an expert, but the cheapest one you can buy is Balyna's Balm. But the best way is to just go to the Spellmaker in the Mages Guild and create a cheap touch heal spell with the lowest settings if you're having trouble.
>>3855586
Oh, sorry. I was tired when i wrote that. Like I said, Balyna's Balm is your only bet then, unless you find some School/House/Order to join that has a spellmaker or appropriate trainer.

Anyone have a PIECE? It's sort of like an eroge VMU with some random doujin games. I picked one up from Surugaya a couple weeks ago and it just arrived this week. I haven't messed with it yet though.
Official site:
http://aquaplus.jp/piece/index.html
Some doujin games:

Emulator (I think):

>a PIECE
looks like one
Well you got me. Never in my life have I heard of this thing. From the site and you saying it's kind of like a VMU am I to assume that you play the doujin games on your PC and then they can interface with the device and you can then kind of have your waifu with you on the go? Advanced!
Imagine, back then I had to settle for 3DPD girls beeping my pager with 69s and 420s
>>3854392
The doujin games are games that were specifically made for the device. The officially supported games are, as far as I've seen, mostly just little minigames with the heroines in some eroge. It requires a AA battery and a USB cable to use (which it doesn't come with), along with some software to load the games onto the device.
I don't think this thing really requires Japanese knowledge to play with, but you'd probably be hard pressed to find some of the supported games/doujin stuff without it.
Mine basically came in perfect condition with the CD for the software, the original box, the unit itself, and instructions/user manual.
so, is there a common lore behind the final fantasy games? Ok, Cid-guys, biggs and wedge, chocobos and moogles, but is there any more? The crystals? What else?
>>3854297
Besides that absolutely stupid thing about FFX's Shinra going off into space and conquering FVII's planet that's stated in some god forsaken Ultimania guide, you can see the only "canon" lore between games in the Dissidia games for PSP. Basically it's crystals, Cosmos, and chaos.
>>3854318
And Garland
>>3854297
world of ruin, imperial army, meteor, various black magics, airships, gilgamesh, dragoons and other jobs/classes.
it isn't "lore" but more of recurring themes since Final Fantasy is a multiverse
So... im building my Super Famicom colelction since Snes prices are absolutely fucking retarded.
I got pretty much everything i wanted except for some cheap games like Fzero, SF2 Turbo, etc.
Anyways, i made some usefull spine labels so i dont need to take the carts off my drawer.
Uploading in case anyone needs them.
>buying Jap carts because you can't afford the real thing
Beta as fuck.
>>3854289
They are the real thing actually, not repros, in fact ive bought Super Mario RPG and Chroino Trigger twice so i could switch the American PCB into the SuperFam cart, then sold the Japanese boards inside the American carts.
So I recently came across three issues of a video game magazine I've never heard of in a lot. There's no wikipedia page on it, I can't find a single google image of it, & apparently they did at least 30 issues because you could subscribe to it at some point. Is this magazine lost media?
>>3853878
So does nobody care about this or am I being retarded & this is actually a well known magazine? I can post a few pages if you guys want.
Just post it. People only reply on this board to shitpost. If no one says anything, it means they at least don't hate the idea.

No, we were poor. Would that have really helped?

Comix Zone is just an adventure game in a belt scroller disguise. Combat is a bit pointless, you can fight but you lose health and enemies respawn or simply overwhelm you. 90% of the game is just "search a little/use rat, find a shortcut/trigger, skip several panels". So while it's cool and all, I don't want to replay it.
