Any good games for this thing?
Hard mode: no Hudson or Konami-developed games.

>ask for good games
>NOT GAMES FROM GOOD DEVELOPERS THO
whats the point in this thread again?
>>4045859
Because everyone knows about Bomberman and Castlevania already, ya goof.
>>4045824
Splatterhouse
R-Type
Ys 1/2
Strip Fighter II
Was Gex ever actually popular? I mean, the guy got a bunch of sequels, so he must have had some fanbase.
i liked it
It's always tail time.

I have the first two games on PS1.
ITT: RPGs exclusive to the N64
Bonus points for anything worthwhile
I'm not sure if its just novelty but N64 RPGs interest the hell out of me. They feel like some weird middle step between SNES and PSX RPGs.
This one's fucking crazy, its a turn based RPG where you can target each specific body part in one on one fights.
probably the best RPG on the system, 100% essential if you like tactical RPGs
it's fucking bad, but its that comfy kind of fucking bad. Very easy to riff on but you won't miss a thing if you skip it.
In the last pinball thread, people were talking about the lackluster quality of the 90s Gottlieb games. I went out to my arcade last night, and look what was new.
I don't think this game was ever highly regarded, partly because of it's adaption of it's license (lookin' good Chun-Li), but I actually thought it was pretty good. The layout is really cool and unique (the Spinning Piledriver ramp is fucking awesome), and the simple rules based around defeating all the fighters work well.
I agree with others that the 90s Gottliebs can't compare with the WMS games, and I'd probably put them beneath Data East as well, but with some exceptions, they're still a lot of fun. They have a very different feel to them, and feature some really cool and memorable gimmicks.
High resolution shots of the new Star Wars pinball are out. Pro on left, Premium/LE on right. More going on than was visible in the low definition versions.
>>4045065
That's actually one of the worst pinball machines ever made. Everyone agrees upon this. Just read an entire lengthy thread about this with many details and supporting evidence.
>>4045997
Where can I get one of these? It's fucking amazing.
Oh how I wish there was a level editor for these games or something.
People are asking for new games in the series NOW but I remember Metal Slug 4,5,6,7 doing TERRIBLY in reviews back in the day.
>>4044631
That's because none of them were any good, period. 6 showed most potential but completely shat the bed with its final mission.
>>4044640
I agree, 6 is definitely the best game after the original trilogy but really the only part of the final mission that blew balls was the slow as molasses digging section. Everything else is pretty solid for the most part, yeah pretty solid. The final boss is REALLY easy too, like, compared to 2's and 3's anyway.
Why people like to talk shit about casuals when Video Games were literally made for them and not for autistic neckbeards?
Video Games were made for children.

And their families.

Stay mad.
There so many versions of Madou Monogatari being MSX, Game Gear, and Mega Drive. Which is the best version to with and is the series even decent?
Mega Drive and Snes games are remakes of the first game but follow a completely different story
Hardo Ghey 101 wrote an article encompassing all games in the series. All games but Big Kindergarden Kids on SNES aren't translated, you'll need to learn Japanese.

>>4044428
Oh of course there's also a PC Engine remake, I completely forgot about that. It uses a different battle system too.
ITT: games that wrecked you as a kid

You can't be serious. You're trolling, right? This has to be trolling.
>>4044290
>literally "babby's first RPG"

If you just wanted to start a thread about Final Fantasy Mystic Quest you could have just posted music.
yeah man that first battle was pretty hard, good thing I figured out there was an attack button
What went wrong?
Oh hai Johnny I didn't know it was you
The only thing bigger than his coding expertise was his ego.

BOB?
did i find a steal?
very yes
That's a once-in-a-lifetime deal anon. Take it.
I wouldn't call it a "steal" exactly but if it's something you're looking for that's a very good deal. I couldn't find the listing. It says they have several so be sure to share it after you get what you want from them.
Is it essential to have an old PC for retro gaming?
In general, where do you get the parts needed for such a machine?
>>4039054
>Is it essential to have an old PC for retro gaming?
If that's your comfy, nothing beats an actual machine with a Gravis Ultrasound Max or MT-32.
>In general, where do you get the parts needed for such a machine?
Thrift stores, garage sales, recyclers, online sites (eBay, Craigslist, local sales sites, etc).
>>4039054
>Is it essential to have an old PC for retro gaming?
It really depends on what you wanna play? if you want to play old PC games and make sure they run i recommend getting a early to mid 2000's computer with windows XP on it as it will probably run the classics along with classic emulators (pretty much anything up to playstation).
As long as you got a 32 bit windows xp machine with a good amount of ram you are good while gaming retro.
>In general, where do you get the parts needed for such a machine?
Old computers are cheap on the internet and in flee markets or thrift stores and the old operating system software is easily pirated online (winworld is a good place for example).
>>4039067
As a bonus to his opinion do not look up windows 98 gaming machine on ebay as they will upcharge you for the most common computer for the day that you could build yourself for cheaper or get for cheaper at thrift stores,
>>4039054
>Is it essential to have an old PC for retro gaming?
I've gotten everything I've wanted to run with either dosbox, dgVoodoo2, or a VM with 32bit XP. Or it just werks.
Does anyone know any good websites that sell Playstation games? Just recently bought a PSone and I'm trying to add to my collection. I know about Lukie Games and JJgames already, any others?
>>4050821
>buying games for old systems
modchips are $3 and there are several sites where you can download ISOs
>>4050843
But that's illegal.
>>4050848
No? Do what you want with your hardware.
Also nobody gives a shit if you download decades old games that don't provide profit anymore.
There are places where eating ice cream while riding a donkey is illegal, it's not like anyone actually cares.
How are the Albert Odyssey series? I heard the SNES titles were tactics rpgs.
Saturn game was a Working Designs title, expect a lot of bitching.
are they worth getting into?
The main series were turned based tactical games. Albert Odyssey Gaiden for the SuFami was a traditional RPG.
Gaiden was later remade for Saturn and released here by Working Designs as Albert Odyssey. My cousin bought this game thinking it would be similar to Lunar because of the box art but he was quite disappointed. Albert was average in every way.
What are your thoughts on each of these games, do you have an opinion on which is better?
>>4050510
Crash Team Racing > Diddy Kong Racing > Mario Kart 64
>>4050521
CTR is pretty good
>>4050510
I never had either back in the day. I grew out of my racing game phase in the SNES era. I did like the original Mario Kart, though.
what are some very spooky games
especially action games
especially on genesis/md
also others though
CastleVania, that game has SKELETONS in it.

Sonic & Knuckles gets quite spooky at times
