I loved FFVIII, so much so that immediately after beating it last week, i started it all over again to try and really beat the crap out of it since now I know the ins and outs of the game. So tell me, why should I go and play FFIX? I have a copy of it (picked it up for 4.99), but instinctually i still just want to play FFVIII again. Tell me why I might actually like FFIX more if I gave it a chance.

Pretty much, FFVIII vs FFIX thread. Lets duke this out.

i'd say replay 8 with a different style, like no card mod or different party members.
>>
>>4046085
no card mod would make ultimata at the end so much harder. I don't know if i have it in me to not cash in all my cards before going against the boss. Those 100 megaelixirs are amazing.

This game takes the term "Cash in all your cards" to its near complete literal translation.

I don't think you will. It's gonna be a real let down. It's just not very good.

BUT, if you keep playing 8 over and over it'll get real stale and wouldn't it suck to get sick of a game you love? How's that for incentive m80?

Hey, /vr/. Can somebody RedWing me on FF ports and remakes?

I realize most would be not retro except for the PS Anthology stuff, but I'd like to know at least which original releases would still stand as the best/arguably best way of playing each game and why

That's not against the rules. I prefer seeing people making fun of that Reddit meme instead of using unironically.

OP, the PS Anthology games are generally hated. They have frequent and horrible load times that kill the flow of the games.

I'm not going to lie: there's something very satisfying about beating a Green Dragon to death with the Staff of Thunder.

old thread died, people claimed to have been enjoying it, here's a new thread.

everyone who wants to tell me i'm a terrible human being for using a tripcode for its intended purpose or for not using your favorite emulator, feel free.

everyone who wants to listen to the extremely slow story of Elani murdering her way to Hargon, here we go!

hooray! glad people are glad.

well, as predicted, level 24 was (barely) enough for Elani to survive the sprint to the valley. currently i am grinding XP in the tail-end of the cave in hopes of earning a Mysterious Hat.

monsters give better rewards here but i also run out of steam a lot faster. oddly, levels 25 and 26 are closer together than 23 and 24 were ... weird.

and now i'm the proud wielder of the Chance spell, whose mystery is only exceeded by its power!

I beat Mega Man Legends for the first time on ePSXe yesterday, and finished the jet skates while doing a little post-game completion. Problem is, they don't work? I can equip them and take them off, even start the race challenge at the TV station, but Mega Man just runs the entire time and holding the circle button makes him walk like usual.

So obviously this is a bug, but I was wondering if this is normal when emulating the game and is there a trick to fix it? Google brings up nothing except a single person who may have had the same issue on Legends 2 if he didn't post it in the wrong GameFAQs forum.

I can't believe I'm about to suggest this, but are your bindings correct?

Other than that, it might be an emulator issue involving how the button press is executed.
>>
>>4058921
>I can't believe I'm about to suggest this, but are your bindings correct?
I beat the game with them, so I believe so. Circle is the interact/walk button and that's the button the game tells me to use.
>>
Stand still, just press and hold circle and they'll rev up and go. Or should. Takes a little time, about 2 seconds or so.

Why is the most powerful spell in every Final Fantasy game named 'Ultima'? Is there a specific reason for this?

It's time to discuss Sega. Let's make this interesting: if you had to give Sega three tips during the development of the Saturn to make it not flop, what would they be?
30 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Don't release before Playstation....
>>
>>4057487
This, and alternatively: don't release it in the west, at all.
Saturn survived in Japan but there's no way it could survive the west any way you look at it, the reason is the PS.
So I'd say, release the Saturn in Japan and Asia only.
Focus on your arcade scene in the west instead of the console market.
Sega missed an opportunity with many of their games and series. Daytona USA is probably THE most popular arcade game in many countries, even more popular than SF or KOF games. Keep the franchise alive and promote national tournaments. Sega-sponsored tournaments would have been a hit in many places where tournaments were regular but never official. Some of them were televised (in Argentina they had monthly televised Daytona tourneys, I think they did over 100).
Make more Daytona games, people kept playing the 1993 one until the 2000s, and Daytona 2 went so under the radar that many people don't know it exists.
Release Dreamcast in 1999 and hope for the best against PS2.

Probably the outcome would still be the same though, PS is too big of an opponent.

In this thread post underrated or overlooked PC games.
I'll start with Vangers, Though it has a cult following I feel like it is often overlooked.

Chasm: the Rift is pretty good. It came out soon after Quake and was very similar so it was overlooked.

>>4057340
Played that one.
It's an okay game unfortunately brought down by boring enemies and way too boxy level design.
>>
>>4057296
I tried Vangers. It is very difficult, confusing, and slow. It might be fun once I figure it out. I keep getting killed on the way to the incubator or whatever.

Yo /vr/

I've just bought this little thing right here, which i was planning to use for my Famicom.."was planning" since this shit barely works.
Basically, it LAGS; it's not just a small delay, it's a 3 or 4 second delay with every input, which makes it impossible to play stuff.
My only options right now are: play in black and white on an old TV, or play on a flat TV getting an huge headache in the process since it looks like shit.

Is there any way to fix this delay thing on this converter?

Not really. Many don't support 60hz, especially if they're from the 80s.
