The lens is apparently more reliable on the PSOne Slim than the original PSOnes.
And also, some say that the quality of RGB is slightly sharper and clearer on the PSOne Slim.

Also, the "audiophile" sound quality on the RCA models is just a meme.
But they are convenient if you don't want to use a SCART audio breakout box if you want to plug your PSOne into a surround amplifier.

I personally prefer the PSOne Slim over the original PSOne mainly because it's more convenient to carry around and it has a more reliable CD lens.
