did i find a steal?
>>
very yes
>>
That's a once-in-a-lifetime deal anon. Take it.
>>
I wouldn't call it a "steal" exactly but if it's something you're looking for that's a very good deal. I couldn't find the listing. It says they have several so be sure to share it after you get what you want from them.
>>
yes, first thing on the agenda is now to order bnc to scart adapter. get scart plugs for all your consoles and enjoy gaming in glorious RGB.
>>
cheers anons, i've emailed them to pick one up

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/pho/6159187931.html
>>
There's a NEC XM29 in my area for $100 but the person who has it listed isn't responding to emails -_- life is suffering
>>
>>4041174
DO IT
>>
>>4041174
If money isn't tight atm, you would be a fool to pass this up op.
>>
>>4041285
>live right near a place with mountains of PVMs but nothing better than an L2
>would kill to get an L5 for this price
>it's as far away from South Florida as it gets without crossing oceans
Why god
>>
>>4041360

I live in a rural area and I know this suffering. Honestly as lame as this is the best thing to do is just stop caring about RGB and bleeding edge pixels and just play games on a regular TV in s-video. It sucks and internet elitists will call you a pleb but the truth is that a consumer set with s-vid is like 90% as good for 10% or less of the price.
>>
>>4041375
S-Video is huge jump up from composite so you're not doing terrible
>>
>>4041174
>go to flea market
>found old CRT used for video editing
>has SCART and RF connections
>be happy it's just as good or even better than PVMemes and less expensive

Why make it yourself harder if you can get around the same thing for almost 100 dollars less?

>>
yeah yeah flea markets are flooded with Tv production grade PVMs and BVMs
>>
>>4041375
You're correct. Stop worrying about perfection and play some fucking video games.
>>
a lot of the 16bit and up consoles have native RGB, no modding needed. If you have the consoles and the screen, all you need is the cable. usually only a few bucks on ebay. Being born in Europe where scart has been the standard we have been blessed with RGB as standard. Not like OH WE HAVE RGB WE ARE MUCH BETTER THAN YOU LOWLIFE FUCKFACES. But like DUDE YOU HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO FULLY EXPERIENCE THE GAMES IN THEIR FULL GLORY, FUCKING GO FOR IT! S-video is good too. Retro gaming is about having a good time, not having the most expensive games and gear. Might sound contradictory, do what makes you happy
>>
This is probably a stupid question but is composite the only thing the nes can run through?
>>
I found a 35" professional video monitor (Toshiba, not Sony) with BNC RGB/Component, Svideo, and Composite for the low low price of "please take this off my hands, I'll even help you get it in your car"

I had to pass on it because it was fucking 275 lbs, and my game room is on the second floor, and I have no furniture that could bear the weight of it.
>>
>>4041375
>the best thing to do is just stop caring about RGB and bleeding edge pixels and just play games on a regular TV in s-video.
No, the best thing to do is just stop caring about video signal and play video games.
>>
>>4041663
natively yes. but you can emulate it on the wii with component/rgb. modding coasts too much
>>
>>4041695
Don't you get it? Back in the Eighties, the ONLY thing we played our games on were PVMs. Every household in America had them, at least.

after i posted the link here the guy said he got lots of people asking to buy all of them, kek
>>
>>4041174
nice marketing thread faggot
>>
>>4041360
I know this, it is the same here. All the PVM and BVM monitors are already taken. The only one available in my area is dead from the caps popping. The seller is asking no less than $600 for the remains. Why god indeed.
>>
>>4041174
No. You fell for the PVM meme. If you live in a shoe box where you can even read text on a 14" screen from across the room and are willing ro spend $100 for hipster cred then I guess it's a good deal.

>>4041375
Nah. There are plenty of ways to get a decent RGB display for a reasonable price. If you're too pleb to manage that then you're too pleb to mod all those consoles that don't have s-video. jk. You're to pleb to have anything except a SNES. lol
>>
Imagine what kind of posts we would see here if USA had RGB SCART cables, and Europe didn't.
>>
>>4041891
Oh they would be salty as fuck. At least they have to deal with PAL.
>>
>>4041779

>>
>>4041375
The actual truth.

Just got a PVM. S-Video literally already looks so good I've held off on buying RGB cables, and may very well not even buy them at all.

is a working Sony FW900 at 100 euros a steal ??

Don't fall for the RGB meme.

You don't want emulator sharpness on your retro game.
>>
>>4041727
>>4041695
Not so much the 80s, but in the 90s we knew composite was crap because we also spent time on PC monitors.
When my roommate and I finally pooled some money together in the late 90s to buy a TV with s-video to hook our Sega Saturn up to, it was a glorious day.

Forget Craiglist, eBay, etc. Go talk to some people, call up some places that used these. A little bit of calling around and a courteous attitude got me a 20" pvm from a local hospital that had been pulled from their radiology dept. and was just sitting in storage for the no more than the price of gas to drive over and pick it up myself.
>>
>>4043064
still overpriced for a meme monitor.

who fucking cares why the fuck would you want to play PAL

Not that anybody cares about my personal blog but the guy answered his emails and I now have an XM29+ for $100.

Multi-standard is the ability to display NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. Multi-format implies 15khz as well as 30khz.
>>
>>4043438

To expand on that, 'multiformat' was just Sony's special snowflake word for multisync. Meaning it can deal with PAL, NTSC, VGA, SVGA, etc.
>>
>>4041779

Haha haha haha hah, you could have got a free Trinitron from the early 00s on CL instead.
>>
"multiformat" = 480p option via Component, that's all you need to know.
>>
>>4043418
Dreamcast, unless you already were using a PC monitor for that
>>
>>4043419

he picked the 15khz only
>>

>>
>>4043419
The retard is you, my friend. It's a good thing the Multiformat went to someone who deserves and appreciates it instead of your underage ass.

CRT can be rebuilt through a process going back over 50 years. Slow vacuum release to not disturb the phosphor, new electron gun. Right now, it's only done to restore irreplaceable early TV tubes, but it could be used at some remote future date when most of the CRTs are used up or lost to time.

i wish PVMs kept track of hours like BVMs do, i have a 2005 20L2MD and the picture is just stunning compared to my 8042Q and 1354Q so i highly suspect it has extremely low hours. (likely used as an endoscopy machine which i would assume wouldn't be left on all the time.)
>>
>>4045592
It is b/w. Oh well was 3 bucks.
>>
>>4048335
B&W tvs are actually really cool for retro games. Monocrome is underrated visually
>>
>>4049107

>>
>>4050241
You aren't gonna make shit from flipping consumer CRTs that aren't FV310s. Leave the vintage sets for the autists who like the really old stuff (me). Anything older than the late 80s is near impossible to acquire anywhere due to the deadly combination of rare (due to e-cycling) and worthless (to the point that literally nobody tries to sell them, and they get tossed instead)
>>
>>4050273
Just sold it for 10 bucks. So made a ok profit.
