Thread 4 cont. from >>2818958
>Last emulation thread hit the limit. Lot's of knowledge was shared. Let's keep it going.
>>2861468
Just reposting this here for people to see. I needs the helps anons
There are 3 main things you need in order to emulate decently PS2
CPU with instruction setSS2 (If you have SSS3 or SS4.1 even better)
CPU Single-threaded performance
Graphics card with dx9 and pixel shader 2.0 support (dx10 or dx11 is even better)
If you want to emulate most games at 60fps get a desktop desu
It there an an already set up amiga emulator image ready to play floating around anywhere? Trying to set that shit up is a bitch and a half.
Just got a SNES. Can we get a SNES general thread. Any reccomendations for someone who is just getting into the console?
So far i only have 5 games for it. What are some good games I should try?
Games I have:
NCAA basketball
Mortal Kombat 3
NHL Stanley Cup
Tetris 2
Battleclash
Also my second controller doesnt work, so ill have to replace that. . .
You've got to play the classics:
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
The Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past
Kirby Superstar
Donkey Kong Country
And others:
If you like fighting games, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2 are on SNES. They might be better on other consoles, though.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
F-Zero
Super Star Wars
Battletoads
Megaman X
Talk about
>MJ
>Jetzons
>SHAMELESS COPYING
>kiddly diddling
>the last good sonic soundtrack besides sonic CD
>>2870983
I'd like to start by saying sonic 3 has the best soundtrack of any game from the 16 bit era besides streets of rage
>>2870983
MJ quit before the child abuse accusations began, he didn't like the way his voice sounded when he sampled it on the Yamaha's sound chip.
Lava reef act 1 and hydrocortisone act 2 flying battery act 2

Posting again because I never got an answer, but where should I start with Wolfendoom?
I tried Astrostein, it's prologue level specifically, but I can't get music. I then realize these are from the late 90's, so I guess that's why.
All these threads are about good games or kinda-good games for some reason.
How about a shitty or shittiest game thread?
Pic related.
the NES has alot of shitty movie games, but this is THE shittiest.
>>2877364
Is that Gunnac? Are you calling Gunnac shitty?
>>2877364
Is this game good or bad?
>>2848135
>is this game good or bad
yes
I'm sorry?
good.
Some of the time attacks could've been slightly more lenient though.
can we get a thread about decent PAL ports ?
anything /vr/ goes, not just PSX
(speed optimized, no giant borders)
pic very unrelated, but the art is cool
>>2882468
>PSX
Colin McRae 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGACXzEjgw4
This is just my opinion and sorry to be of little help but PAL sucks ass 99% of the time I had to restart my collection before I had heaps of games, It happens to people used to PAL and then discover what they've been playing there whole lives was the shit format nobody wants :D Awesome game and art too btw
King's Field General? Why not. We have a dozen other useless generals clogging up the board. May as well try a different subject for a change of pace.
>What is King's Field?
KF is a medieval first-person RPG series by FromSoftware. The series is known for its hellish difficulty, complex dungeons and murky atmosphere, which players either love or hate.
>FromSoftware. Isn't that the same company behind Dark Souls?
KF is often considered a spiritual precursor to Demon's Souls / Dark Souls, and there are some references to KF to be found in the Souls series.
>Which games are available in English?
The first and second KF games for PS1 are actually the second and third games in the series, due to the first KF game never being (officially) localized. There is nonetheless a complete fan translation patch of KF1 for those interested: http://agetec.yuku.com/topic/1827
>>2881568
Which one is considered the best to play first?
>>2881572
The plots seem fairly independent from one another, so I guess it doesn't really matter where you start with the series. The gameplay elements are also generally the same, including the selection of spells and equipment available. You're more or less just exploring different environments in each game.
KF1 (Japan) is more of a dungeon crawler, and comparatively short. KF2 (KF1 outside of Japan) takes place in an isolated island region. You spend a fair bit of time exploring underground labyrinths, but occasionally explore the outside of the island or various above-ground villages. KF3 (or KF2 outside of Japan) seems to take place mostly above ground, although there are a few dungeons to explore.
>>2881568
Are the PS1 games worth playing? I love the concept and the art style, but it seems to run at a low FPS
/vr/ I need to know if this board is a repro. I know NES games have multiple chip manufacturers sometimes but I've never seen the chip with the circle. Game is Mega Man 1 for reference. Thanks
Not sure bro, that a 64K CMOS Chip from Fujistu that you can easily order. I checked my copy and it's the same as on bootgod. Here's a pic for reference. Gut feeling would be yes.
>>2880936
The one with the big circle is a Fujitsu SRAM, and the other one is a mask rom (either manufactured by Nintendo or subcontracted out, it's normal for it to not have a manufacturer label). Date codes are 1990 but Mega Man was popular enough that it probably got multiple print runs, so it's probably legit.
>>2881015
i agree with this post here.
Taco Bell had the greatest kids toys.
Prove me wrong.
Sure thing.
>>2879379
>implosive
How does that even work?
>>2879383
The more you shit your asshole closes in on itself. From there you can no longer have have a proper anal evacuation and the feces builds up until it leaves your other holes.
So, who here had a chance to try this?
Also dedicated arcade hardware & oddities general I guess
>>2879234
>dedicated arcade hardware
This is now a Bemani thread
I need to build me a Pop'n PC controller someday
Is there any information on Sega of Japan's side of the story about what happened in the 90s?
This book makes Kalinske and his team out to be demi-gods, while the Japan team was a bunch of retards. And while going from a <5% market share to a >50% share is very impressive, I can't help but feel that a lot of information was swept under the rug to make him look better, or that his faults and mistakes were twisted to make it seem like SoJ was at fault.
>>2879004
>I can't help but feel that a lot of information was swept under the rug to make him look better, or that his faults and mistakes were twisted to make it seem like SoJ was at fault.
This. The fact that neither side wants to take full responsibility for the 32X is a sign that SoA were responsible for as many fuckups as SoJ were.
shit tier console, made by a shit tier company, fails. shocking
>>2879049
We are all tired of your stupidity on this board kid.
Hey /vr/
Not sure if there is a general for questions like this but I was interested in buying an arcade stick for use on the PC
Now I'm not sure what to get or what would be compatible with PC hardware since most are aimed at xbox and PS3/4 users.
Anyone have any advice what I should get.
>Buy literally any stick
>Buy cheap chinese usb adapter for the stick
>Play
Something with a decent layout (aka not American-styled) like Sega or Vewlix. Something with decent buttons like Sanwa switches.
>>2878869
>>2878854
Well I was looking at the HORI Real Arcade Pro.V Kai Fighting Stick which is working on a pc according to amazon.
Would that be good enough to start with, it has Sanwa switches and has a Vewlix Layout.
I got me this from a flea sale, it has a db15 pin male conector and Ive been looking online for some adapter, they few I found are really expensive, any experiences or idea to make one? also it seems when used you adjust wheter you use the whell, the pad or the joystick I would like to use them all (it would work good as n64 controller) any advices?
I've never been able to find this type of converter reasonably priced. I just ended up counting my loss and trashing my old gamepads.
On the plus side, generic USB gamepads should be very inexpensive these days. You can also buy a PlayStation-to-USB adapter so you can use your PS1/2 controllers with your computer. The ones I've purchased worked fairly well, but may not last longer than a year.
fancy 15pin pads like that essentially fall into 1 of 3 categories:
generic - not really multi-button, just standard 4axis+4button with some of the buttons doubled up. would need a generic active usb adaptor, but dont expect more than 4 buttons.
dual input - natively supports usb with a passive adapter, the chip in pad does the work. i believe some microsoft and logitechs can do this
propriety - uses an improvised digital protocol for multi-button thru 15pin, required a driver that probably only works for old versions of windows. requires a specialized active adapter - if it exists and even then its probably a fan made project. i believe some of the early microsoft sticks have these?
>>2878501
This. You really may as well trash it at this point. It isn't worth the hassle
Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
>>2878363
the devs of this game
>>2878363
I did
What, playing a 4:3 game in widescreen? I agree, that's awful.
