So, 'bout to go to college, and one of the consoles I know i'm taking is my Dreamcast. It's one of the models that allows burned disks.
I was wondering if you guys knew of any really underrated/obscure games for the console lying out there on the internet somewhere? It can be from any region.
>it's a "babby wants recommendations for his first retro console" episode
>>4160146
I've already gone through and gotten some of the bigger titles, like Code Veronica, Yakuza, Sonic Adventures, etc. Hell, i've even gone through and gotten some more obscure middling games like Nightmare Creatures 2.
I've done some research. But I figure I won't find the really obscure stuff just by taking a browse at whatever top 10 dreamcast games lists IGN has mirrored.

According to Nintendo:
>There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy.
>The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic.
How can I legally keep a backup/archival copy of my game if game copying devices are illegal according to Nintendo?
>inb4 "Who cares? Just download them off the internet like everyone else!" I'm simply interested in the legal aspect of it.

>How can I legally keep a backup/archival copy of my game if game copying devices are illegal according to Nintendo?
Desolder the ROM chip and design a circuit to pull the raw data off the chip itself.
For real though, with cartridge games it's a bit of an issue. Although backups are legal, most methods of actually creating those backup copies aren't. With CDs on the other hand, you can legally create a backup with any CD drive, so that's not an issue.
When the man knocks on your door show him your carts. Compare carts to your roms. All will be well.

>How can I legally keep a backup/archival copy of my game if game copying devices are illegal according to Nintendo?
It's simple, you can keep it as long as you want. However, you're only legally entitled to use (or, "play") the copy if the original is lost, damaged or stolen.
>tfw 2D Metal Gears are better than 3D Metal Gears
>>4160009
you olny say that because nobody really remembers the 2D games
MGS is essentially a 2.5D remake of MG:SS and it's the best one, so
Dunno, but Snake's Revenge has the best track in the series. This should be Snake's Theme.

Symphony of the night worst game edition
Opinions?
OP is still a faggot edition. It's a good game, even if it's not the "best" castlevania game
>>4159837
Decent, a bit overrated by hipsters.
>RPG
>best party member in the game statwise is temporary
Yeah, it's a bummer, but you can keep Teddy on your party and beat the game if you never enter the house on Mt. Itoi. You will never get Lloyd back though.
Anyway, Teddy is very useful for the cave leading to Mt. Itoi, where enemies have anti-PSI shields, so strong physical attacks and good speed is required.

Why were Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons only playable on GBC? Was there a reason the games couldn't work on original game boy, or did they just want to sell more GBCs?
There were some color puzzles in Ages, but I imagine the games probably make use of the extra memory and other features of the gbc.
>>4159372
That's like asking is there was a reason SMW didn't work on NES.
>>4159406
Not really. There were games which worked both on GB and GBC, with the extra colours on GBC only, like Link's Awakening DX which Oracles game are based off.
Anybody ever finish this?
I'm pleasantly surprised how much I like this game already. Aside from the title character and the whole first town getting cucked at the very beginning of the game. I really like the prerendered backgrounds, the voices, and the combat. Does this game stay fun throughout? What did you think of it? I like how his wife looks and sounds like a literal pornstar.
Own it for DC but it really weirded me out back then by looking so much like a late 90s Square game but playing nothing like it. I've been told in other threads that it is pretty good although I guess the plot meanders a bit much?

Started the GOG version last year or so, but got distracted as I bought more and more /vr/ from the slavs... It was pretty fun. But I've only played it up till the castle and library part.I heard the latter parts of the game have really annoying puzzles.
