be The Creators
>>44097986
I will take the first fact for myself:
The world was created by now defunct/dead/forgotten gods known only to antiquity as The Creators.
I will now periodically bump with art
Everything is a cannon. Except some humans I guess.
What's up? I'm working on a world building project for both a campaign and a book/graphic novel at some point in the future, but I'm a little stumped on how I can go about including magic without it being a clusterfuck of fantasy tropes.
Anyone have some ideas? I feel like this has already been done from every angle.
>>44097785
Magic is the biggest trope in fantasy, don't worry about your ideas being original or fresh, because there's no such thing as new ideas.
>>44097785
Magic is a finite resource, the leftover scraps from when the gods created the world. Every time you use it to change reality that bit of magic is gone for good. Some day it'll all run out.
>>44097785
You should have some consistent rules for yourself on how magic functions/interacts with the world.
That isn't to say you should be exhaustive with those rules, or that you should even really explain them to the player/reader in depth. They should be just vague enough to do what you like, and allow the player/reader to feel like they can suspend their disbelief.
>This is a quest taking place in an alternate version of the Naruto world during the same time period as the story, with a few notable differences. You will be playing as Kon Karagowa, a young Leaf Jonin. Your character is defined by your choices, so write-ins are always encouraged. And remember to have fun!

Game plan, we know the Akatski want all the tailed beasts, lets get a sample of all their chakra bar 9 tails and stor eit, one we get a sample of his we call a meeting of the 5 kage and implant a sample of each into Kon, whom will now have a sample of each tailed beast resulting in a fraction of Ten tailed power, but a fraction of infinite is still infinite, BOOM Kon is really powerful and can stand up there with the best of them
Talons and Cyclops dart through alien waters as they hunt and chase away packs of Kryssers in the seas of Rukor. The predators were dangerous nuisances, nearly dragging off several unwary Reconstructed into the depths. They were cunning beasts, laying ambushes hiding in the holes and crevasses that looked too small to hold them. The reefs and rocks of the atoll Nekris chose to construct his outpost provide many hiding spots for the tenacious pack hunters but your new amphibious soldiers were deadly on a completely different level.
Agona's bunker is well under way, the beginnings of tunnels and rooms to secure a proper Cauldron and armory being hollowed out by tireless diggers and soldiers. The rain was heavier than normal, the lightning flashing often in the clouds above. Her ships were landed to avoid any potential strikes, relying on Gargoyles and Cyclops sentries to keep watch along the slopes of the rainslicked mesa. Thunder rumbles through the peaks and then through the stone under their feet. The still terrified Stonestar saying it was the Lavafather stirring in their sleep.
Sitting on your throne you look over to the group of Ructu, your astral form teaching them more and more. Only three of the four still holding contact with the sigil carved stone, the fourth sitting in stubborn dismissal of the truths you revealed. Elsewhere on Horizon's Drop in the large plains of swaying grass Red-Leaf-Strains argues with her sisters about the lessons she'd recently started sharing with the younger members of the herds, the matron firmly standing by her decision to continue them.
By your hand a fledgling empire grows.

Jumpers, at what point have you had to take a step back, and admit you've gone too far and need to stop?
>>44097257
> Constables face when they realize all my dialogue during criminal jumps is comprised of Cypress Hill or Notorious BIG lyricsCOPS, COME AND TRY TA' SNATCH MY CROPS
>>44097013
Well, I mean, why the fuck should I care what i look like? I spent my last jump looking like a bear woman Anon.
Weird iris and white hair could only be an improvement.
I'm pretty new to miniature painting, so when I started, I started with Citadel paints, figuring that they make the figures, their paint is probably good too. Recently, I picked up some Reaper paint though, and it is working much better for me. The citadel stuff just doesn't flow as nicely. I'm not sure if this is because it's old (To be honest, my FLGS only has a few people who do minis, so it almost certainly was old), or if Citadel paint is just crap. I did order the Reaper paint directly from them, so it was pretty fresh.
What brand of paint do you prefer, and why? Is there any brand I should specifically avoid?
>>44097107
Ciradel paints need to be thinned for best results.
I personally Love Revell Aqua for painting without thinning
>>44097292
Ah, did not know that. Do other brands of paints need to be thinned as well, such as Reaper(My only other paints)?
>>44097343
Depends on thickness. Thin them until they can be used well... more a thing of personal preference
How did your last session go /tg/?
Any system

The game took a dive into Area 88. There was an exchange of high valuable prisoners and I think I got a Silver Star for my actions during the session before this
We passed from 2 players to 6 so I didn't do much this time
>Be me True Neutral but evil aligning Archivist 3/ Walker in the Waste 1
>Go into the sewers after hearing rumors of things in the sewers... this is after we've been constantly attacked by ghasts with vampire bites on their necks
>Suddenly hear a noise
>Fucking skeletons and ghasts come surging at us
>Then a Huge ass Feral Vampire appears and tackles our fucking Large sized Lizardman Ranger(who is a NPC we have hired on)
>I cast Sunbolt
>30 Damage and it's next turn the vampire immediately goes Mist Form and flees through a crack in the wall of fucking course
>Fight ghasts and shit
>I use my Dessicating Touch roll a 1
>GM has me roll to confirm get a 10
>Ghast rolls to bite and hits and gets max damage
>It bit my middle finger off
>Next turn I use Command Undead on the near full hp Ghast nearby and Direct it to fucking maul the Ghast who just bit my fucking finger off
>Fails Save
>Rogue and it tear apart the ghoul
>Retreat to the church after losing my FUCKING FINGER
>Bugbear Paladin(Player) is there and goes apeshit over this new sword our rogue found
>I get patched up and rest
>Get my level 3 spells after I leveled up from the encounter(Animate Dead, and Bestow Curse)
>Return to sewers the next day
>More skeletons and ghast charge us while my Ghast opens up the crack in the wall by moving rubble
>What a surprise more undead! Raptor Mounted paladin mows downghasts and after combat finishes he is paralyzed and his mount flees out of the sewers(Player had wife aggro)
>Ghast gets tunnel open I rush in ahead of the team ready to fucking up that vampire
>Its not the vampire its an entirely new one
>Use Sunbolt and hit him for 24 damage
>Mist form and awaaaaay
>Leaves ghasts and skeles for us to fight
FUCKING VAMPIRES FUCK YOUR MIST FORM SHIT

Have you ever played an old character?
>>44097034
Sweet Jesus what happened to Kes?
I had a Lazy Warlord who I fluffed as an old retried General.
Almost all of his abilities were yelling at the Whippersnappers that they were doing it wrong and telling them what to do.
>>44097034
Yes, i played an old fighter.
It was very enjoyable, i think I may do it again in the future.
>Six-sided die
How do we fix it?
>>44097026
(1d6)d(1d6)
>>44097026
What's broken?
Use smaller pools of larger dice for things that should have a lot of random variation (ie 1d20) and use large numbers of small dice size for things should trend towards the middle (ie 4d6)
Have you ever played a character that hid their power? Or was their strength just unnoticed due to their appearance/activities/personality?
Every rogue ever.
My current character is a crab man with six arms, but he hides four of them under a cloak because that would scare people. It doesn't make him any stronger in the game mechanics, but I only have him take it off when shit gets serious so it`s kinda like that.
Once played a Champions game online where I was a skateboarder with telekinesis and a lot of skills. Since I only used the thing for distractions and had a fuck ton of skills the party (and the Supervillian we were followed by) thought it was fairly weak. Didn't show until we went face-to-face with the Supervillian that I could actually move the Empire State Building if I tried.
Why wont the elves let any of the orcish refugees settle on their lands?
Diversity is code word for human genocide
Is this thread about FATAL or Racial Holy War?
>>44096651
We should do the same as the elves and not let any orcs into human kingdoms. Why don't other orc kingdoms help?
>>44096651
Why won't John Snow let the Wildlings in? Oh wait...
Tell me about that time you played with megafauna in a game, /tg/. Did your druid have a field day?
>Dinosaurs a shit
Dumping mammalian megafauna for interest.

My setting has indricotheriums as beasts of burden, used much like tamed elephants are.
Jesus fuck
How did I not notice this before
I don't even play 40k, but it's spelled "Gellar".

Banachek reference when?
>>44096176
what is the "real thing" the text is referring to?
ITT: best time you've had playing D&D?
>be me
>playing 3.5 with best bro
>I play half-Orc barbarian named G'wreg w/ nat 18 strength, and nat 8 int. (not certain about charisma, but it was 11-13.)
>bro plays middle aged female wizard named Debonara (Deb for short.) w/nat 15 int an nat 18 charisma.
>group's pretty chill, occasional weird characters are welcome.
Side note: we started at lv. 5/6, can't remember. DM wanted to get to the meat of action sooner.
>anywho, we've never met before IC, except for Deb and G'rewq. As Deb put it, "I've been taking care of him for a long time."
>party just mehs it off
>we leave town
>first combat
>3 Goblins jump out at us, typical stuff.
>G'rewq makes high pitched squeal
>everyone covers ears
>G'rewq wins initiative due to goblins not knowing what satanic anus just shat that noise out
>G'rewq grapples nearest goblin while making little burbling noises and pissing himself
>Deb shouts "NO, G'REWQ! BAD!" And then proceeded to hit goblin with fireball, distressing G'rewq and causing him to drop the goblin, but he was unharmed.
>Deb runs over to fiery, agonized goblin muttering a hasty "I'msosorryI'msosorry" before blasting another goblin with a fireball while shouting "NO G'REWQ! BAD!"
>group has no idea what to make of this.
>goblins have no idea what to make of this
>G'rewq has no idea what to make of this. The goblins were a little distracting, very fun to hug.
>Bro and I go down the line hug-searing everything
>MFW bro and I made a tard and wrangler combo meal.
Games stories are like dreams. They're not really interesting, except to the people who experienced them first hand.
I actually laughed out loud at this
