Depends on what you want.
Sentai teams had been covered a ridiculous amount of themes, from ninjas, construction workers, magicians, treasure hunters, etc...
I think there's a super sentai PbtA if you just want to focus on the purest essence of the genre.

Neither was in the wrong, this was just a thing that happened.
Perhaps the players weren't that clever or were used to playing with a GM who paced things very differently or the GM didn't understand the kind of game his players wanted to play/were used to playing or didn't communicate with them very well, but there's no inherent fault here on anyone's side.

I'm thinking of starting 40k and would like some help picking an army. I enjoy playing ranged armies in wargames but would like something a bit more versatile than the tau. What would you recommend? I'm already considering the imperial guard but would like a second opinion

Its all dependant on money. Guard is awesome but its a bit expensive, specially these days. Maybe a Scion army could be fun, but they are more close quarter ranged fire fights. And they are not exactly versatile, as they have at most Ogryns to compensate for CC.
Necrons are a good and resilient army if you want. Dark Eldar is fun, but hard to play and master.

'BBEG seeks to destroy the world' nor complex political dramaugh
I've been volunteered to run a game in the near future and I'm having difficulty come up with a plot I'm happy with to anchor the campaign.
I'd like to avoid doing a typical 'mysterious evil person wants to blow up universe' story because 95% of fantasy boils down to this, and it's what I did in my last game. I get why it's so common, but I'd like to explore something else.
Problem is: the only other plot I can think of that really has the weight to carry a whole campaign is a fairly political one - one with multiple fleshed out kingdoms vying for control of [something], with back stabbing and army movements and plotting wizards guilds etc etc etc. The issue with this of course is that it's a very hard thing to do well, and anyone who's read enough fantasy should know how easy it is to turn the necessary 'worldbuilding' into a slog. It's difficult to exposit how the northern Kingdom Gala is known for its knights and seeks to retake country taken from it by the Kingdom of Brolo in 1246 blah blah blah blah without everyone's eyes glazing over. Personally I've given up on several books and live plays because of this exact issue.
I've googled around for 'RPG plot ideas' but I haven't found anything appropriate to a Campaign-level thread. Heaps of great ideas for micro or medium level zoom, but nothing that I feel I could build an entire arc out of.
So, /tg/, what would you suggest? If you were going to run a fantasy campaign next month, what would drive the narrative?

We were searching through a wood for someone we were supposed to be hunting, to show a bunch of useless fucking Werewolves that our Cabal of Mages weren't pussies.

I do it frequently to spice up the combat, in d&d making it a spell means there is a bit more players can do about it (counterspell, dispel, break concentration etc.).
Though similarly to vancian casting, usually after the session the spells are gone from my memory.

Because many people mistake freedom of action with freedom from consequences. I make sure to let my players know that if that act like retarded murderhobos in game they'll be treated as such by people in game too.

Next session my PCs will assemble in front of a Teavern in Baldurs'gate and depart the city this way. What sort of things should they meet on this path? How do I reflect Baldurs' Gate just with this short journey?

But places like /tg/ can give you such splendid ideas. I'd like go beyond "vendors, groups of Glaming fist, groups of adventurers, flirty wench on a doorstep" cliche.
One of the things I have already is a druid with a bonsai growing out of his neck and shoulder with his pet boar size of a small house. Such things.

Now I'm sitting here feeling really weird and guilty. I haven't had a D&D book since 3.5, and my friends don't want to play with me, as they cite a few "That-Guy"isms that I pulled like 3 and a half years ago. I appreciate the gift, but now I have a constant reminder of how I lost one friend permanently and lost the respect of a few other friends.
